She vows to bring her abducted queen home…even if she has to work with the man she hates.
Knightmaster Nea Laurier is tough, dedicated, and lives to be the best Oronis knight she can be. All her life, she’s worked hard to live up to her prestigious family name. She will do whatever it takes to rescue Knightqueen Carys from their enemy, the vicious Gek’Dragar…she just wishes it didn’t involve the most cunning and dangerous man she knows. A man she detested when they were at the Academy, and a man she still detests—Knighthunter Kaden Galath.
Now she’s headed deep into enemy space, and the only person guarding her back is a man she’ll never trust.
Knighthunter Kaden Galath was born in the darkness and came from nothing. Being a knighthunter—a spy for his people—is the perfect job for him. He uses all his unique and deadly abilities to keep the Oronis safe, even the beautiful, perfect, do-gooder Knightmaster Nea. He’s vowed to always stay alone in the shadows…but Nea might be the weakness he never expected.
As Kaden and Nea embark on a mission to some of the deadliest enemy planets, they fight side by side, and uncover each other’s darkest secrets. Following the trail leading to their captive queen, Nea and Kaden will face their most dangerous battle yet, and a fiery passion that will engulf them both.

Any time I can picture the MMC as Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer is a good time!
This is Book 2 in this particular series, Oronis Knights, by Anna Hackett, but I must admit I don't remember much about Book 1, and I think that may have helped here. If I do remember correctly, Book 1 had a human FMC with an alien MMC, and I believe this Book 2 has two MCs from the same or similar alien races, so technically it's alien x alien. Looking back I rated Book 1 a 2 stars, so I guess I didn't care for it that much. But starting Book 2 fresh allowed me to be freshly reintroduced to the characters, and that helped, because I really connected with them. And having their moments of shared history peek out here and their during their current quest, it complemented all the buildup to their relationship, and made the insta-ness of it all feel a little more tolerable.
I had a fun time for sure on this one. There is a larger, overarching story happening that would be more understandable having read all books, but I was pretty much OK reading Book 2 without remembering Book 1. Anna Hackett does a good job at keeping the reader informed and not confused.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Eon series and couldn't wait to delve into the Orinis Knights with the sexy alpha men and women. Knighthunter is the second great book in the series and was as good as I had remembered from my first time reading it. The Knights are loyal, with a staunch sense of duty and right and wrong. Knighthunter Kaden and fellow knights will stop at nothing to find their beloved Queen who has been abducted by their mortal enemy. Kaden and Nea are teamed up to find the Queen but they find much more than they thought possible along the way. A great actioned packed read.
KADEN'S DEVOTION FOR NEA WAS PRICELESS, the persistent emotion that won my heart, otherwise I felt the series was still bland, or maybe it was just me.
I didn't like NEA from the first book, acting like she had a stick up her ass - a typical perfectionist from an affluent family. Beautiful, flawless and smart. Standoffish too. That was the vibe she was giving. But, I wasn't put off by it, in fact, KADEN knew the woman underneath and it was clear he was besotted with Nea even though he tried to portray otherwise. He was whipped.
If you like the opposites attract troupe, and a tsundere heroine meets cocky and charming hero who hides his emotions beneath a veneer, then this is your cuppa tea.
While I enjoyed their chemistry and love-hate tension, I wasn't wholly captivated. Let's hope Sten and Carys's story will be different.
We're back with the Oronis knights and their fight to find their Knightqueen before VERY BAD THINGS happen to her. This time around, we have Nea and Kaden and they do the big sparking thing against one another. Because they have attraction and some misunderstandings and some societal issues that need to be addressed.
So. Both Nea and Kaden are determined to do their part in their search for their Knightqueen. Even if it means teaming up with someone they might be a little antagonistic toward. The antagonism is on Nea's side, btw. In an effort to protect her when they were younger (and he was less trained), Kaden didn't treat Nea so well and she'd taken his actions to heart.
HOWEVER, soon things are smoothed out and without the buffer of seeming-hatred between them THINGS HAPPEN. Sex-ay things. Things that both of them very much want to happen once all the misunderstandings are out of the way.
More than a little danger, more than a few sparks (both of the emotional/physical and the power variety), a dangerous planet (or two), a Knightqueen (and her protector) with a lot of grit, a woman determined to do her duty, and a man with a whole lot of power. GOOD STUFF!
Sadly, this story only earns 3 stars from this reader
Action drives this story in this action-packed series. It's pretty non-stop. The romance plotline is endlessly annoying throughout about half the book. Then, the two leads can no longer fight the intensity between them. The romance entertwines well with the action after that.
The two leads are fairly well drawn and likable. Anna Hackett is a great storyteller, and her skills are apparent here. However, the romance between these two, while clearly consummated, feels unfinished. They are left hanging and still waiting to take another step in the rescue. It's as if they disappear as the story moves to the next couple in the series. Also, while AH typically writes smokin hot sex scenes, this one felt a little lacking. It was a bit hollow. I didn't feel the passion between these two, and it felt a little like going through the motions.
Everything leads to a cliffhanger, which readers hate with a red hot passion. Why do authors do this? I have no clue. This series isn't Hell Squad. This is just a kidnapping story involving the Knights. I don't get the need for a cheap device like a cliffhanger. Although I've been a huge Anna Hackett fan for years, I think this was my last book of hers. This series has no large overarching bad guy/species like Hell Squad or Galactic Gladiators. Yes, there's a species they fight with, but this series doesn't feel at all like there's a big puppet somewhere pulling strings. It's a bit weak, closer in style to the detective-type series she writes, which have never been as strong as her scifi books.
Still, this book is entertaining if you are ok with the unfinished romance and that big hairy cliffhanger.
I can’t wait till the next book comes out. This one came out I downloaded it and read it in one day. Anna Hackett has a style of writing that makes you connect with not only the main characters but also ones met on the way. You can see the world and can’t just stop in the middle you are invested in the story. I can’t wait to see what will happen to the knight queen and her dedicated guard. I hope that these destructive Gek’Dragar are stopped permanently from destroying worlds and civilizations. I loved Nea and Kaden’s story. So perfectly tying in their tumultuous past to current day. A heart filling love story amongst an one the edge, action packed novel. Well done Mrs Hackett, once again I can’t wait for the story to continue.
MY RATING GUIDE: 3.5 Stars. With more action/adventure and less sexy times, this could have been a 4 for me. But it was still good fun. 1= dnf/What was that?; 2= Nope, not for me; 3= This was okay/cute; 3.5= I ENJOYED THIS; 4= I liked it a lot; 5= I Loved it, it was great! (I seldom give 5 Stars).
Nea Laurier comes from an Oronis noble warrior family. Hard training, honor and respect for the family name got her through school, then the training academy with the highest scores. Now she is an Oronis Knightmaster, a unit leader, among the best in the Oronos military. Although she and Knighhunter Galath attended the academy at the same time, their interests and personalities couldn’t have been more different. Nea despised Galath and his seemingly carefree manner, and he seemed to enjoy needling her.
Kaden Galath was orphaned at birth, raised in a care center and trained at the Academy. He is a Galatine dark knight, one of 4 remaining from a legendary race of long ago. Galatine warriors have always possessed deadly and unusual powers and once comprised Oronis’ fiercest fighting force, placed on the frontlines during the worst of battles. In recent times, the Galatine race is remembered only as being incredibly deadly. Kaden has earned the position of a Knighthunter, one of few selected and specifically trained to acquire information behind enemy lines. Putting his life on the line for the good of his people is his job, his daily mission. Kaden has scars, both visible and not, which remind him of past tight situations. And now he is being sent on another dangerous mission behind enemy territory not alone, but with the the delectable, rule-follower Knightmaster Nea Laurier. They are to locate and rescue their abducted queen, Carys, currently bound to her Knightguard Sten Karrahan.
Comments ~ 1) KNIGHTHUNTER is a Second Chances trope story and bk2 in Hackett’s ongoing Oronis series (a spin-off off her EON Warriors series). KNIGHTMASTER, bk1, began the series arc and KNIGHTHUNTER continues it. The story arc concludes in the next/final book (I believe), KNIGHTQUEEN. Yet this particular episode - KNIGHTHUNTER - concludes satisfactorily with the locating of Carys, the abducted Oronis queen and her missing Knightguard, Sten Karrahan; and with the resolution of a long held misunderstanding between the 2 MCs, concluding with a HEA (for them). 2) I really enjoy Hackett’s world building, action-filled and adventurous story plotting but the insta-sex can be a bit much at times. (I end up skimming through these sections). 3) Rather than listening to the audio version of KNIGHTHUNTER, this time I purchased and read the digital copy. I found it as enjoyable as the audio (from bk1) and easier to skim, as desired.
READER CAUTION ~ Not recommended to YA readers or those who prefer Clean fiction. PROFANITY - Yes. Strong language is used, with occasional blasphemy as well. VIOLENCE - PG. Not dark or violent. SEXUAL SITUATIONS - Yes. Detailed intimacy occurs between the MCs quite early in the story, reoccurring several times (in case you missed it).
Knightmaster Nea Laurier and Knighthunter Kaden Galath
Searching for their kidnapped Queen, Nea Laurier and Kaden Galath have had to team up, and work with the human spaceship Helios. Their hunt takes them through enemy space, facing all kinds of danger as they search for the Knightqueen and her Knightguard.
We actually met Nea and Kaden in the previous Oronis Knights book, but only briefly. There is an incident mentioned in this book, which makes me think we may actually have briefly met one character in the Eon series, but I can’t swear to this, I do know we first meet the Oronis Knights in those books. Kaden is particularly interesting, because he is a bit different from the other Oronis Knights, while Nea is a strong woman, who has had to overcome her own issues.
Warning! Bookhook cliffhanger! The final section of this story features the couple set to star in the next book in series… and ends with a fairly big cliffhanger. If you hate them, it’s easy enough to avoid that section and save it for later. Otherwise, this isn’t a huge cliffhanger since it is a new story arc, but rates fairly high on the trauma scale 4/5 due to the content.
This is a quick, and enjoyable sci-fi romance story, for the sci-fi romance lovers out there, and the Hacketteers. It’s a good choice if you want a spacefaring adventure with monsters and aliens.
Good! Same issues as the first book though. Reallyyyy wish it had been more slow burn. And again I wish some things with their traumas and even their relationship had been more nuanced. Everything was very much "my dad was really hard on me so I have to be perfect" "you already are perfect he's crazy for not seeing that" like okayyyyy... (those quotes are paraphrased this time cause I don't feel like going back in and finding them).
Still, loved the characters, loved the plot, and loved the wound tending hurt/comfort. I just wish they'd been less sappy. Like. You can't be repeatedly screaming each others names mid-fight every single fight... It just makes it feel like young adult first love type of vibes, which does nottt make sense w the tone of the rest of the book (or, ya know, the smut).
This his the second book in the Knights of Oronis series and it was so good. Nea and Kaden have known each other since childhood. Nea was very studious and trained hard as a fighter. Her father expected and still expects perfection. From het. Kaden is very powerful and a rare spymaster Oronis knight. He has been I love with New since they were children. But he was abandoned as a child grew up in the gutters then in a children's home. He's never felt good enough for Nea and is afraid his power could hurt her. They are sent on the most dangerous mission to retrieve their stolen Knights Queen and her guard. There is tons of action that make this story hard too put down. But its the budding relationship between Nea and Kaden that beautiful to watch they are unraveling the layers that no one else sees and truly coming to understand each other on a new and deeper level. Their growing bond will be what saves them from a terrifying end. Highly recommend you give this story w try is well written the characters have tons of chemistry and they world building is as always top notch!🌟💖🔥🌟🔥💖🌟🌟💖🔥🔥💖🌟🌟💖🔥
That's an enemies-to-lovers I've never read and I love it!
I will not drone on about how great this book was - though it was amazing!
On the most important mission of both their lives - rescuing the Oronis Knightqueen Carys and her devoted guard Sten from the hands of their worst enemies, Gek'Dragar - Knightmaster Nea and Knighthunter Kaden will clash with each other a lot. They've known each other since school, therefore have a rocky past due to being the complete opposites. She was the studious, rule abiding Knightmaster with a last name of an elite - still is. He was the rule breaking troublemaker that came up from nothing to be a spy, a Knighthunter. He's still all that. But this adventure they're taken on during their search for their queen puts what they think of each other under question. The mission tests their endurance and their feelings for one another. And it's explosive. I absolutely loved it and I'm already testing my patience, waiting for the next book to come.
I have loved Anna’s books from the very first one I read. If by some chance you have not read all her books, then you were truly missing out on a Amazing author.
This story has everything you Could possibly want, action, passion, romance, science, fiction, really good science, fiction, and world building throughout the entire story, which is truly my favourite part.
I strongly suggest you read this series, and all the others, that Anna Hackett has written, Hell Squad being one of my favorites.
This story is so worth your time and money. I read it on Kindle Unlimited, which makes it even more wonderful. The only sad note is that the next book isn’t due till early 2024 and that’s a long time from now dang! Still, Thank you Anna for keeping these incredible stories on KU it mean a lot that you’re keeping these available to me as I’m on a disability & can still read such a quality story; For everyone else indulge, binge & enjoy, you’ll thank me.. Take Care & Be Safe
I'm not sure why, but the Oronis Knights stories just aren't really doing it for me. I can appreciate the world that is being built, but I just want a little more out of the characters. I was super interested in Kaden being Galantine, but they didn't really go into details of what that meant for him as a Knighthunter.
I wasn't a big fan of Nea. She was a little too aggressive at the beginning of the book. I understand why and where the author was going with it, but it rubbed me the wrong way. I felt this way with a few of the author's other "woman in a man's world" characters.
These are totally guilty pleasure books, and I will definitely keep reading the storyline because I want to know where it goes. I'm just hoping the next book has a little more world building and character development.
Anna has done it again. I just loved the story of these 2. there was so much action, romance, hotness, and excitement. It was go,go,go from the beginning . the plotline was a wonderful continuation of the 1st book, but Anna explains it briefly just in case you haven't listened to the first novel. Nea is kickass and a sassy, awesome heroine. whereas Kaden, omg, he's described as a perfect alpha. there was some light banter, steamy scenes, and a little suprise toward the end. Anna's sci-fi is always brilliant, and I'll always listen. as for Aaron Shedlock and Stella, always a pleasure.
Captivating from the first words, this story kept me engaged as the search for their Knightqueen continues. The passion sitting dormant, just waiting to ignite, between Nea and Kaden was hinted at in the previous book and I just knew it would be explosive. With a taste of enemies to lovers and secret longing, and a protective hero and just as protective heroine, their romance is everything. Plenty of action, danger, nand suspenseful moments as these two fight side by side against enemies as they simultaneously lose their hearts to the other. Stella Bloom and Aaron Shedlock do an amazing job with the narration as always.
This was a fab follow up to book one and I have to say that the chemistry between Kaden and Nea was smoking hot. They're on a mission to rescue the Knightqueen and it's a wild and adventurous ride for them. Expect fab world building as they hop from planet to planet, danger, more details on their enemy and a ton of steam ;D I loved how protective Kaden was of Nea while still respecting her many skills. The author always does a wonderful job matching a strong and sassy heroine with a protective alpha hero, and this story is no different. Well done!
Kaden and Nea were classmates at the Academy and antagonists. They both bear and bury emotional wounds from their childhoods. Tasked to work together to bring home Queen Carys and her Knightguard, they struggle to work together until they give in to their simmering attraction. Though reluctant to admit it, they also find the acceptance and love both long for. I really liked the first book in this series and the second is even better! Lots of action, sexy times in a heartfelt romance that leaves you wanting more. I cannot wait for the next book (the KnightQueen and her Knight), I don't want this series to end!
The 2nd installment of Anna Hackett's newest series is just as well written and entertaining as her others. The hunt to find their abducted Queen has Knighthunter Kaden and Knightmaster Nea working as a team for the first time. Nea is having a hard time letting go of her Academy memories of Kaden's pranks and harassment. Kaden is having a hard time keeping his hands off of Nea since she has been his obsession for years. Their mission is a priority for them both. You need to read the book to find out if it's successful or of Nea strangles Kaden!!
Oronis Knights book 2. Knighthunter Kaden is different type of alpha. A spy with some secret power. Knightmaster Nea is hardcore to the bone. She strives for perfection as she upholds the family name. The two are on a mission to save the Knightqueen and her guard. As the mission goes on these two battle evil alien creatures and their feelings for each other. They've known each for a long time but circumstances kept them apart. This book is action filled, angstful, dramatic, smexy and plenty of WTF craziness.
On the search for the abducted KnightQueen Carys and her KnightGuard Sten, Nea and Kaden continue the search began by Ashtin and Kennedy. With a Terran Skelton crew Nea and Kaden learn to trust each other as they get closer to rescuing their Queen. Kaden’s unique powers are revealed as Nea reassesses her reaction to him and his irresistible pull in her emotions. He is impressed by her skills and dedication and will not let her father disrespect her or him again!
This is the second book in the Oronis Knights Series, a Sci-Fi Romance. This is a series of interconnected stories, with an ongoing plot. I like this series. Nea and Kaden's story is entertaining, full of action, humor, and passion. Nea, a Knightmaster, is determined, and strong. Kader, a Knighthunter, is handsome, and protective. Looking forward to listening to the next book in the series, to know what happens next. This series is captivating! If you like Sci-Fi Romance, this series is for you.
I really enjoyed Knighthunter. It had plenty of action and romance. The growing between New and Karen made everything better. I am so looking forward to the Knightqueen and KnightGuard falling in love in the next book in this series. I recommend this book to everyone. They will definitely like the nailbiting excitement. The best, as always, to the amazingly brilliant Anna Hackett for another awesome asventure.
Wow! Action from beginning to end. The unfolding connection between Kaden and Nea was a delight to read. Their back stories of where they came from explained a lot about who they have become. I think Kaden is still full of surprises. The storyline is also so interesting. I love the way Anna Hackett focuses on the characters but never forgets the story. Great series!!
Received this ARC as part of the ARC team. And how I love to be among the firsts to read about more extraordinary worlds and characters. Nea and Kaden are 2 great fighters, a knoghtmaster amd a knoghthunter with a long history behind them. They keep annoyimg each other but a they go through together make them discover who the other really is. And I love there crazy quest to find amd rescue their queen. Another great adventure among the stars.
Didn’t think I would like this book, did buy it when released, finished 2 others on my TBR list, then started this one. It was very good. Love a kick@ss hH. Never ending action, adventure, humor and Romance! Lots edge of you seat thrills. The story ends but it also has small part of the last chapter of Carys and Sten’s adventure begins. Now have to wait (ugh) for the next book! Hopefully out this year!? What a great series of books.
I really feel like the quality of Anna’s books have not been as great as they once were. I don’t know if she’s rushing through them or what. I felt like the dialogue is not well developed and very teenager-y. (I’m aware that’s not a word!)
It was a struggle to get through this book. And I hate saying that because Anna is an author that I always buy as soon as a new book comes out.
These adventures just get better and better. Each time I start one, I'm instantly transported to another world where anything is possible, including love. Knighthunter is no exception, full of danger, bravery , courageous acts and deep passion. Kaden and Nea were meant to be together. It just took them a while to realise that.
Another masterpiece from Anna! I loved the way this followed on from Knightmaster and this group of characters are just continuing on with the search for the Queen. Kaden and Nea are both strong passionate characters and well suited for each other. Can’t wait for the next book!
Nea and Kaden are working together to rescue the Queen and her Guard. Nea and Kaden travel through new worlds. Each more dangerous than the last. They are getting close to the Queen and her Knight. As Nea and Kaden fight through many enemies they fall in love. Its a sweet story. Now lets go find the Queen and Guard!!!!
