Back in the US, Megan finds herself in a prison of another kind; her money- loving husband who plans to exploit her.
Excerpt: Alone with Reed, I look at him in disbelief, my eyes brimming with tears. ‘How… how could you, Reed? How could you love someone else so …so quickly?’ ‘Megan, I don’t understand; why are you so upset? You left me!’ Feeling like I’m in a really bad dream, I turn and drag myself out of the apartment. How could this happen? When did it happen? How could Reed let my baby call another woman ‘Momma’? When I get to the parking lot, to steady my trembling self, I sit on the kerb and hold my head in my hands. ‘Megan!’ I look up into Reed’s face. ‘What the hell is going on with you? I mean, you don’t want me. She does, Megan!’ ‘Reed, this is crazy. How can this be happening, Reed? We went through so much. You risked your life for me. You found me. I live for you and Wyatt. How can things go so horribly wrong, Reed?’ ‘Megan, I asked myself those same questions when you left. I loved you. I needed you. We needed you and you could so callously leave like that? Without a solid reason? Everything you said to me in the past – I doubted after you left. Now, I’m moving on and you come back and you get upset when I find someone, who took all that you threw away? What is wrong with you?’ ‘I love you, Reed,’ I sob. ‘I love you!’ ‘Don’t say that!’ he yells, his face scrunched in pain.'Dont! Please ...' ‘I do! I do! I do!’ ‘Reedwan!’ Abeeda appears behind him with my baby on her hip. My baby. ‘Come inside. Now.’ I take in her long, modest, almost traditional Muslim dress, her scarf around her face that draws back her hair, the righteous indignation she has on her face, and wonder: is this the same girl I used to down tequila’s with? Reed glances at Abeeda then at me. ‘Go home, Megan and please… stay away.’ ‘But you love me, Reed.’ He stiffens and in a cold voice says, ‘I don’t. Sorry. I don’t love you. I don’t want you.’ Those words cut so deep, I want to die. Curl up on the pavement and die right now. ‘Reedwan, leave her alone,’ Abeeda says in a calm voice. ‘She’s a big girl. She’ll work it out. Let’s go.’ I expect him to listen to her and leave, but he remains where he is and looks at me, a blubbering mess. ‘Reedwan!’ she calls again. Still, he remains where he is, swallowing hard, his Adam’s apple bobbing away. I finally get up, run to my car and speed off, my heart splintering. Video for Captured : http://youtu.be/yhVAFZs4YmI

I have not read anything close to this plot line...ever! I am an avid reader and this is one of my top 10 favorites! I also LOVED her Gringa book. I think this author is wicked intelligent and has a gift for the craft of story telling :).
All in All, this is on the top of my list of favorite reads. I highly recommend that anyone that likes romance with a twist, purchase this book, then after that, read her "Gringa" series. You won't be disappointed, I guarantee it!

Eve Rabi is the author of 29 crime and suspense novels, three screenplays and more than half a dozen short stories. Inspired by the likes of Sidney Sheldon and Gillian Flynn, her tales are bold, scandalous, controversial. They’re also peppered with romance and humor. To quote an Amazon reviewer: “When you pick up an Eve Rabi book, forget sleep. She writes gripping page turners that will keep you reading till the very end.” In her spare time, Eve likes to dance like no one is watching. In fact, she also likes to eat like no one is watching.

This review is from: CAPTURED - Held as a Slave by Iraqi Militants - eBook Two (Kindle Edition) This is an account I share with my wife Harini. Here is her review of "Captured".
As I raced through the two volumes of this book at breakneck speed, I kept wishing I was an editor at a big publishing house. No, not because of the typos, though there were a few; but because I'd love to 'discover' Eve Rabi and hand her a million dollar advance. Because I feel in my gut that this could be the next big thing, the funny, female, 3rd millennium version of M*A*S*H.
Eve Rabi is an honest, natural story teller with an amazingly strong voice. Her characters are real people, so alive that the externals of setting and historical events seem unimportant. Her style is so natural, she seems unaware of the risks she's taking. For one thing, the whole story is told in the present tense, a tough stunt to pull off. It's like she's your best friend confiding in you about the terrible time she had and the sweet guy she met in the middle of it, and the even more terrible things that happened after that, not pausing to breathe or divide things up into convenient chapters so you can get a few hours sleep, for heaven's sake. But no, apparently she's never heard of chapters. Nor of giving the reader a rest between periods of suspense. On the other hand, what are you complaining about, when the heroine, an American POW in Iraq, has to endure months of incarceration, terror, and worse? I loved her ability to see both points of view, love with all her heart, and be funny about it all.
Book 1 is relentless in its action and hilarious one-liners. Definitely 5 stars. I'm giving Book 2 4 stars, because it's slower, less funny and more harrowing than the first book.
As a piece of literature, this probably has a million flaws. But who cares? It's a terrific story, told by a terrific story teller. And isn't that what it's all about? I have t add that this is not my usual read. It's full of four-letter words and really explicit violence and sex. But it's very very human, funny, touching, likeable, absorbing, heroic, and altogether fascinating. Can't wait to start on "Gringa"!
I was skeptical when I started this book. I wasn't sure if I would liked it as much as the first one, but I loved it! Megan and Reed went through so much because of Megan's evil, bastard of a husband, Damien. Damien was the devil incarnate! He used Megan to get money until she literally went nuts. She lost her husband, her lover and her child. I don't know if I could have been as strong as Megan in that same situation. I teared up at a couple of parts and at others, I was flaming mad. Every time, Megan experienced a little bit of happiness, Damien ruined it for her and she was pushed two steps back. Megan and Reed deserved peace and happiness, but Damien was hell bent on doing everything in his power to break Megan down and to destroy Reed. The moments where Megan lost her mind were sad, but one in particular (parking lot scene) was freaking hilarious and just when I thought all hope was lost, Megan found a little bit of strength to fight back for her family. I laughed, cried, wanted to scream and I wanted revenge. The ending was awesome!!! Eve always surprises me with the endings. Wonderful book! If you haven't read any of Eve Rabi's books, you're missing out!
Megan Saunders thought that all she wanted was her freedom. With her husband threatening to divorce her, she thought that she would come home, find her happily-ever after with Reed, and raise their son together.
What greeted her when she came home was not what she expected. Her husband, Damien, holding her hand when she woke up in the hospital with Reed and their son nowhere to be found. Threatening to use what she had done against her, Damien forced Megan to do fashion shoots, talk shows and modelling jobs. But all she wanted to do was find her long-lost, beloved family. Battling depression and almost suicidal, she meekly did what Damien demanded of her.
Until the day she was approached in a beauty salon by an unfamiliar face. Reed and her son had travelled to America and wanted to see her.
But what will Damien do when he discovers the whole truth? And how will Megan finally get her freedom with Damien threatening to harm her?
I love Eve Rabi's books and believe she's incredibly talented; that's why it guts that I have to rate this book as unremarkable. Truly, book one was a solid 5*+ but this, not so much.
I barely contained incredulous laughter while reading this book and for the sake of all that is holy, fried and baked, there is no way a US soldier would be so pathetically lacking in combat training.
Moreover, the plot had holes the size of craters and Megan was beyond stupid. Don't even get me started on that ridiculous "band-aid on a bullet wound" ending. All in all...un-freaking-believable. And what on earth is "shaddup" and "mff"? This provincial dialect has been used in all her books and me thinks, the author ought to refrain from using them in future books.
Would recommend book one and ask that you suspend logic while reading book 2
I enjoyed the first book, however the second book just was plain old ridiculous. I was so annoyed by this weak and pathetic female character (Megan) that I had to skim some of the pages because I can't deal with reading her stupidity . No one is that weak and pathetic, it just annoying to read.(less)
31/2 stars. Now I found this one a bit more interesting than the first one. We get to see Megan's inner despair and turmoil and being separated from Reed and her baby and not being able to apeak to anyone about them. We also see her discomfort with the life that Damion has forced on her and how she has become this empty person just going through the motions of different appearances to please her husband. When she is reunited with Reed, its one of the high points of the book and we see get a deeper look a their relationship. But always in the back of your mind, you do wonder when the other show will drop Seeing her forced to walk away again and Reed's rage at this is disheartening especially Reeds hurt. But the shocking betrayal of a close friend is what will leave readers with their mouths open. But at last , Damon seems like he gets what he deserved and it is so good!
I really gave this book a 3.5 (but I can't rate in halves) and that's just because Megan is so stupid. I understand the need to make the plot exciting but some of the stuff she allowed Damien to do, some of the stuff she did, it was just intolerable and frustrating when reading it.
I loved these 2 books though, first one was a 4 stars for me and that because of typos and I'd have liked to see a few more romance scenes.
4.5 stars! The missing half star is because I loved Megan's strong spirit in the first book but here, she is so weak at the first half of it that I really wanted to shake her up! Over all, an amazing book with twists and turns. I was on the edge and shed tears of happiness and sadness. I highly recommend that you over look the terrible cover (again) and enjoy both books!
Okay, so I'm now a fan of this author. I loved it. Played havoc with my emotions but a great, original story that will make you want more. Sad though and sizzling sex scenes so be warned. recommended and can't wait for more from this author
Loved it!! Another page turning sleep depriving book ~ Well done Eve!! between book 1 and 2 , i haven't slept the past 2 nights but did get a catnap in only after i finished each one lol.. Eve's books are addictive , i really don't know what i will do when i run out of eve rabi books..
Definitely pulls at your heart. But I just wish that Megan had been a bit stronger. Especially with her husband. But her easy submission to Damien could have been left over from her time as a POW, so I did cut her some slack. Overall, an enjoyable series with a happy ending.
