Whether you are already a seasoned director or simply a film fan, this comprehensive guide features everything you need to know to make a digital film: from the basics of capturing footage and planning a shoot, to the more advanced aspects of editing and post-production.
This book gives a great brief insight in to all areas of the filmmaking process you will definitely need to further research a lot of the techniques mentioned to gain a better practical understanding. But overall for learning the basics this book is good even if it’s a little dated in places eg the 2 pages on compact 3D cameras made me cringe.
Don't pick up this book looking for the be-all, end-all when it comes to digital filmmaking. It is exactly what it says it is: a "guide." Nice, glossy overview exploring all levels of digital videography, from making home movies to indie films. This is just a starting point for further research and exploration.
Too broad. Skims a million topics. Some obvious, some interesting, but none in depth. Might be an OK starting point if you know absolutely nothing about video. Even if that's the case, you'll need to proceed to other resources to learn more detailed, practical tips.
