WANTED. THAT'S THE LAST THING ZILLAYAH EXPECTED when she escaped from the C-SAFE facility. After one week, her face is on every notice board across the continent. Right next to Elijah. He's a distraction, and she doesn't need any more of those. Zillayah's only goal is to get to safety, reunite with Aunt Emrie, and find her parents.

In order to do that, she needs to get across the ocean and to the Northern Kingdom of Ryesyl. With her memories haunting her, a giant chasing her, and pirates with their own agenda, chaos is inevitable. Betrayed and captured, Zillayah must adjust to her new life. Turmoil erupts when Zillayah meets an old friend with an older secret. One that changes everything she knew about her parents and herself.

New enemies, allies, and danger await her at every turn. Her mother always said it's best for her to avoid water. Maybe it's time to find out why. With any luck, she might come out of this unscathed.

Might.

1. This sequel (To Silent Sounds) , IS SEQUELING
2. Why haven’t you read Silent Sounds yet ?
3. The plot is once again had SNATCHED me out of the depths of the infamous reading slump.
4. YES there’s SLOW BURN and this couple is SO CUTE. To me it’s reluctant Alies to lovers BUT in the first book is was more like enemies to lovers? Y’all just gotta read it.
5. Also this book takes place on a PIRATE SHIP and let’s just say how they end up there is wild and the journey on the ship made me wanna throw hands with some of these new characters. Just read the book 😀
6. This book kept me on my toes and the action is always entertaining. The plot twist were exciting and had me yelling at the book more than the last book. I love the execution of the story. Because in the first book we met everyone but in this book we get to focus on two of those characters now that we know them. then towards the end of the book y’all she doesn’t forget the other characters from the first book and that’s all I can say without spoiling it.
7. I love love love the writing style so much. It’s simple enough to be easy on my brain BUT interesting and well thought out enough to still be beautiful and hold my attention. When I tell you those words are like PAINT ON A CANVAS. It flowed so well and it was so interesting and cured my headache with 💫escapism💫 but also some insightful lines, worldbuiling, and complex, interesting and layered characters.

Wow – talk about a letdown. Not only did I have high expectations for this one, but I was so excited to dive into it, especially after reading Book 1 - Silent Sounds. However, there were so many disappointments with this sequel. First, I did not understand why we needed to derail Zillayah’s and Elijah’s journey by spending majority of the book on a pirate ship of all things. Second, the causal reveals of some of the secrets and mysteries in Book 1 was both anticlimactic and unsatisfying – especially the reason behind why Zillayah was different from others who spoke the Old Tongue. Third, I felt like Zillayah was watered down as a character, she lost some of the badass appeal she had in Book 1, and her romance with Elijah wasn’t my favorite. Also, where was Emrie’s POV?? Not sure if the author planned to break off their POVs in separate books, with Emrie’s being the main POV in a potential Book 3 (which if there is one – I don’t think I’ll be partaking in after reading this one). Whatever the case, the absence of Emrie’s journey was unfortunate and surprising, especially since she appears towards the end of this book.

In conclusion, this one was definitely heartbreaking. I thoroughly enjoyed Silent Sounds and was sorely disappointed in this sequel, which greatly pales in comparison to its predecessor. I wouldn’t recommend, unless you simply want to finish out the series.
