Dr Gillian McKeith (PhD) is the internationally acclaimed nutritionist. She helps clientele from all walks of life using nutritional evaluation and food energetics. Gillian was the presenter of You Are What You Eat, the hit Celador primetime television programme for Channel Four in Britain. McKeith is the author of the bestselling book based on the series, with over 1.7 million copies sold. She is also author of other books on diet. In the UK,she presented 'Feel Fabulous Forever' for This Morning on ITV. And her US radio show, Healthline Across America had a loyal following. She has written for a number of publications, including health journals and popular consumer magazines. Gillian graduated from the University of Edinburgh and received her Masters degree from the Ivy-League University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. After a severe bout of personal ill-health and recovery through nutritional medicine, she embarked upon a new path and changed her life. She then spent several years re-training for a Masters and Doctorate (PhD) in Holistic Nutrition from the American Holistic College of Nutrition (USA). She holds Certificates from the London School of Acupuncture and the Kailash Centre of Oriental Medicine. She is currently studying with The Australasian College of Health Sciences, USA. She is a postgraduate member of The Centre For Nutrition Education, England, and is a member of several health organisations in the UK and USA. Raised in Scotland, Gillian now travels extensively giving lectures and seminars to packed audiences. Her lifelong mission is to share her information, improve people's lives and make the world a healthier place.
I bought this along with Gillian McKeith's 'You are what you eat' book when I wanted to change the family diet and start to eat a little more healthily. I have tried only a couple of the recipes, but I think this is more to do with my family not liking a drastic dietary change rather than the quality of the recipes.
I thought it was very good. Concise and complete. Lots of good ideas and tips and information on different products and what they do. Even recipes for gravy and veg stock. Definitely good for a beginner.
Wasn't impressed with the recipes, they seemed just short and bland (not necessarily food-wise, but direction-step wise), you could barely discern what the pictures really represented--too many out of focus blurred out backgrounds and some weird unidentifiable close ups..food pictures should look delicious, not artsy....Just really didn't feel this one at all..the only part I liked was chapter 3 where she described all sorts of spices and products, that was educational on the exact level I need to boost up my knowledge.
este livro é o complemento ao livro 'you are what you eat'. ele é lindo e tem algumas receitas BEM legais, todas muito saudáveis. não tão inspirador quanto o primeiro livro, mas ainda assim muito bom! tenho tirado várias ideias dele, pra me alimentar melhor. tenho adorado :-) só não virou meu mais novo livro de receitas favoritas porque o livro da donna hay tem se mostrado imbatível nesse sentido! rs. e tb porque eu não gosto de sucos de vegetais, como a gillian :-P
My version was an old (small) paperback, color cover, black and white interior, no photos of the foods (if I recall correctly). Having said that, the recipes were probably a little "out there" for the average joe, but I tried a few, and to this day, I still use quinoa and millet in my own doggie food I make! Gillian McKeith DID make me think much differently about what type of food I ate for fuel...
Her recipes are so incredibly yummy that she made turning vegetarian again extremely easy. She's a bit of a wacko, and her t.v. show is insane, but her recipes are great! I recommend Shepherdess Pie.
My version is just a smaller paperback, no color photos or anything, but it's what's in the recipes that count I guess. I still make her cauliflower mash and I add quinoa and millet! Good protein there.
I love Gillian on TV and purchased this book because I was curious to try her recipes. I've tried a half dozen so far, and they've all been a success! Yum!
