This book was probably the most exciting out of the ones I have read so far! it was a rly cute read, I'm sad they didn't add any romance between Abby and Hugo 😭😞😭... I rly want to get some newer books on my tbrrr butttt I can't at the moment so I am sticking with my older ones!!!! 🫠🫠🫠😁😁😁
Very good. I really enjoyed this one. These are the favorites of the three series I am currently reading. They are definitely a "better quality" read and aren't quite as fluffy as the other two series, although I end up staying up far too late reading "just one more chapter" with these ones.
The story was entertaining. It seemed to bounce around a lot, without the aid of smooth connections, but I liked the writing, the cleanness of the story... no immorality, profanity, etc. which is not easy to find these days.
I would classify this book as a christian mystery. Think Murder She Wrote with spirtiual undertones. The story moves slowly and in some places is quite predictable, but a good clean read. Orinthologist and amateur sluth Abby Stanton has returned to Sparrow Island, a fictious island within the San Juan Islands, to take care of her sister after a car accident. While rummaging through her antique desk at the island Nature Museum Abby found a very valuable necklace which she turned over to the athorities without any thought of keeping it for herself. She then sets out to find the rightful owner of the necklace. There is a curse attached to this necklace and strange things start happening on the island and the islanders believe the curse is responsible. Abby sets out to prove to the islanders that there is no such thing as a curse and that God is always in control.
As I was reading this book I gave my 14-year-old son a summary. His response was, "So Mom, it's kind of like a Christian Hallmark movie or something?" He might be right! There was mystery and tragedy, with a touch of romance, but there was also hope and the theme that God is in control. It was a fun, friendly book with actually a lot of action. It is Book 5 in a series but works perfectly as a stand alone too. I wrote down one thing to add to my Keepers journal: "Just in case of what?" a small, interior voice questioned suspiciously. She refused to answer it. Small, interior voices never seemed to ask helpful questions, just annoying ones.
Nicely written, solid Christian mystery. I got this from the library because I enjoyed the first two books in the author's "Ivy Malone" series and wanted to read the rest of them. But this was the only book the library had by her and I didn't even know it was from a series until I got on here to write my review, so I'm guessing that the other books from this series are stand alone too. While I liked it well enough, I don't think I'll be searching out the rest of the series.
This mystery has a lot of great things going-the setting is on Sparrow Island-a San Juan Island, the main character is a amateur sleuth, and there is a rare blue diamond missing.
A light read, but it kept my interest. It's one of those where the older lady solves the mystery, and somehow that appeals to me. The ending is bit "pat" but then it's not real life, it's fiction.
I have read this again recently having enjoyed it so much the first time. It was lovely to read a mystery which had me guessing to the end. Is there a crime or not?
