When I finished this book, I had one hell of a book hangover - I felt ruined, incomplete, I wanted more and I wanted it right that second. I even went as far as to post a status about how I was thanking God that book 2 in this series has already been released. M.M. Koenig to me is an undiscovered talent - her ability to draw the reader in is unbelievable. The plot moved along fluently, the writing style crisp and unique. This book has it all - suspense, a little danger, intrigue, deception and holy hell were the love scenes hot! Conflicted was everything I wanted it to be and more, well surpassing my expectations,
Mia Ryan is certainly unlike any character I’ve come across before. We meet her in a rather unconventional way, in the middle of a scene where she is kicking out the latest treat of the week so to speak, from her bed. A boy whose name she can’t remember, and she couldn’t care less. Sex was an escape for her, and who her partner was for the night didn’t matter as long as they got the hell out of there in the morning. Living off campus from the University with her fellow roommates, their house was notorious for its epic parties, and even more epic cleanup disasters. The 5 occupants were more like family than just roommates and Mia relied on Bri, Jackson, Trey and Shane to always have her back. I loved the connection between all of them, with multiple personalities like they are all living under one roof, you would think there would be a ton more drama - but at the end of the day, they all loved each other and that always came first. Mia is spiraling down a dark path after an unforgivable betrayal by her ex boyfriend lands her expelled from University. The place where she held the esteemed position of editor in chief of the school’s magazine. Mia is a brilliant girl who prided herself on excelling at every task, at challenging herself to always rise to the top. Seeing her dreams of journalism go up in black cloud of smoke devastates her, especially since she was framed by someone who claimed to love her.
Opportunities never knock just once, and when the chance arises for Mia to gain not only some of her dignity and self respect back, but to also take the position of Editor in Chief of a high profile magazine, how could she not jump at it? The catch was, she would have to infiltrate a financial company back in her hometown as a spy. A mole placed with the sole purpose of reporting back to one man. A man with the intent to destroy the company - claiming that they were a front for illegal activities. I know, red flags right? Spying? This book couldn’t have had a more appropriate title. When Mia’s ex returns to town, the very one that ruined her life, things get even messier. Micah is determine to win Mia back, and prove that his actions were done with good intentions. Mia and Ethan slowly being a cautious relationship together. Tension arises at home as the house divides over what Mia is doing. And at the center of it all, what is the driving force behind the spying that Mia has agreed to do?
The twists and turns and the shocking ending will leave you reeling, this is a must read for any romance fans that love a little danger mixed in.

Okay, I did love Mia and Ethan in this story. I have to say, this book is totally a romance with some evil villains thrown in. I thought it was well written and that all the sub characters were perfect for the story.
This is one that I do have to read the next book. I'm kind of shocked at myself because as HOT as Ethan is in this tale, he's not the aggressive over the top kind of alpha that I love so much. By the way the story ended he may be working his way to getting his Alphaness going.

This book is like a big cat, slowly stalking your mind. You know something Is there infiltrating your brain, but you aren’t sure what it is until all of a sudden…wham! You’re being pounced on, and fighting to tell which side is up or down. Let me tell you, the title is very appropriate, because it leaves you conflicted to say the least.
In the story, we meet our main character, Mia. She’s in a dark place after being kicked out of college—and betrayed by her long time love. Now, she lives with her best friends, and is trying to figure out what to do with her life. That all changes with one phone call, a meeting, and an offer that she can’t refuse—even if it doesn’t mesh well with her morals. However, she takes the offer and is hired as an inside mole to bring down a big financial company. In my opinion, she takes this dangerous offer in an attempt to feel something again, risky or not, she wanted to feel alive after being in the dark for so long.
Enter Ethan, the very swoon worthy male lead character, with that alpha charisma that no woman could ever refuse. I’m not talking fake alpha, I’m talking the kind that gets deep into your soul, and makes you want to do all those naughty things that you read about in those sexy books. Like everything in life, it isn’t’ fair that this man ends up being Mia’s new boss, the boss of the company that she is hired to find dirt on, and bring down.
Their attraction to one another can’t be sidelined. It’s as if there’s some force pulling them together. No matter how much Mia tries to refuse it, it only keeps getting stronger and stronger. But what happens when everything she thinks she knows about why she was hired comes crashing down? When her past catches up with her, and she’s left questioning everything? You’ll have to read to find out!
Let me tell you, this one has a slow start, but it’s worth it. It’s building you up for the blow that hits you in the end. All the little clues, and hints, mean something—so pay attention. The twists and turns have you flipping the pages fast as you begin to get some answers, and your world is rocked. Also be prepared to go out an immediately buy the second book, because this one leaves you on a cliffy! You’ll need to—because the suspense will eat you up inside. I have to know more, and I’m looking forward to getting even more answers to this romantic thriller.

This book has the perfect combination of suspense, hot sex, and and mystery. I really fell in love with this book. The characters were fun to read and the book itself was perfect!
After being kicked out of college and hurt by her long time love, Mia is not feeling like herself. She’s now living with her best friends and trying to figure out what to do next with her life. Then she gets a call for a job, she’s going to be a mole to try and bring down a financial company. Ethan then walks into her life and he’s hot, super hot! Their chemistry is off the charts and there’s no denying this between them as much as they try. But then secrets start coming out about why she was hired?? Will their relationship survive this mess or will she let it all go?? I loved this book, the ending is crazy, and I need more now!!!

I have to admit that I at first found this book a bit slow but as soon as Mia met Ethan I was sold and ate the rest of the book raw and now I am completely aching to read the next installation cuz wow what a passion and what raw heart breaking battles Mia must go through :) On top Ethan is damn sexy in hie domineering but loving ways <3

I hated this pain. I hated being numb all the time. I hated that my life's ambitions vanished because of him. I hated myself for allowing him into my heart, only to have him break it so badly that I barely found the pieces. I'd never be able to put them back together. The damage was so severe that any attempt to fix them was useless.
Mia Ryan may not have had the best family life growing up, but she was well on her way to achieving all her dreams when it all gets ripped away from her as a result of the worst kind of betrayal by the one man she trusted most in the world. Her ex destroyed her, tore away her future, and abandoned her all in one fell swoop; to say she now has trust issues would be an understatement. Never again will she lay her heart on the line and she lives her life hiding behind the walls now surrounding her heart; the only people she allows close to her are her roommates who also happen to be her best friends and the closest thing she has to family. When an opportunity arises to get herself back into journalism, it comes at a price and with a huge risk; but the payoff just may be worth it. She jumps in with both feet, but with a necessary cautiousness and even a little bit of guilt at the lengths she will go to to get back what she lost. When she meets Ethan Fitzgerald she knows she is in trouble; he is the first man to banish the numbness from her soul, awakening a part of her she thought long dead and turning her on with barely any effort... he is also the one man she needs to avoid getting involved with at all costs. It's to bad for her that Ethan has set his sights on her and when he wants something, nothing stands in his way. He pursues her with a relentlessness that both excited her and scares her, but what will happen when he discovers the real reason Mia entered his life in the first place?
It took everything in my power to walk past him, acting like what he said meant nothing whatsoever to me, when on the inside, I was a bloody mess. He wasn't going to back down. I wasn't sure if it turned me on or tormented me.
I cannot even begin to explain how much I loved this book, in so many ways, for so many reasons. Yes- it is a romance, but it's so much more than that. It is a known fact from very early on that Mia is getting herself into a situation that may be more dangerous than she anticipated, but as the story goes on it also becomes clear that she really has no idea just what she was signing up for or why. Everyone is hiding something, everyone has a secret agenda, and no one is what they seem. Each and every chapter is steeped in deception, danger, and a lust so thick you will choke on it. The chemistry between Mia and Ethan will burn up your kindle, the insta-lust is quite evident, but don't take that to mean they jump in the sack right from the word go; oh no- there is a build up that will leave even the readers a sexually frustrated sopping mess as the cat and mouse between these two last for at least 50% of the book. But when it finally does happen.... just dayum. Seriously explosive and hott-as-hell and so totally worth the wait. And as a side note; FINALLY someone else sees the yumminess that is peanut butter on pancakes!! there really is no other way to eat them ;)
I also loved the relationships between Mia and her roommates, it's easy to see how much they all love each other and they really are their own family with a history stretching most of their lives. Each with their own personalities, each with their own quirks, and each of them bring out a different side of Mia that you wouldn't see without their interactions. The only thing that could have made this book absolutely perfect for me was a little bit of POV jumping; the book is told entirely from Mia's end and I would kill to see just what the hell Ethan is really thinking. Ultimately what really did my head in, what laid me out and screaming, was the freaking ending. There will definitely be some WTF's flying around here, but take comfort in the fact that book two 'Complicated' is already available ~ yes, I checked!! I CANNOT WAIT to get my greedy little hands on that one, I'm dying to see what else is in store for this fantastic couple, and hell-everyone else in this story. M.M. Koenig has secured her spot on my One-Click-Addiction List with this gem and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Conflicted was the first book in the Secrets and Lies Series. I would give this book a solid 4 stars. This book will blow you away with the twists and turns it will take. I literally was begging for the second book Complicated. This story is told in one person POV of Mia. It unfortunately ends in a cliffy. But the passion and determination of this couple make it worth the wait. This is the first book I have read my M. M. Koenig but I have become such a fan that I will be following not only this series but whatever she puts out there. You will get your steamy sexy scenes and also its a mystery with tons of angst. Im not gonna lie Ethan I think has made it to the top of my Alpha Male ego loving list.
Mia lives with her best friends who all were in college until unexpectedly a scandal broke loose at her college newspaper and Mia found her self expelled from school. She was deceived by someone she always thought would never tear her heart apart but always hold it dearly. She is finding herself still trying to pick up the pieces when one day she is offered a job that she would be crazy to refuse. But that job will come with a price and she will get Conflicted with what is right and what is wrong. And of course there happens to be the sexiest man she has ever laid eyes on that she has found herself drawn too.
When he looked up, it stunned me. His eyes ran along my body causing his expression to change somewhat. His scowl gradually transformed to a timid smile. His eyes didn't leave mine as his brows wrinkled as if he was trying to piece something together. I didn't have much brain space to think about what was going through his mind. I was too busy attempting to contain my own impure thoughts. My body reacted in ways that I'd never experienced on the first encounter with someone. It flamed to attention as I soaked him in. Heat rushed to my cheeks while my heart started hammering loudly in my chest. I had never felt anything this strong. It was potent.

This is a suspenseful, twisty plot that keeps you guessing. Mia is one kick ass sassy lady, getting through the tough times the best way she can. Kicking off with a refreshing table turning scene I admired her back bone from the first chapter. Her life is on pause after her previous childhood sweetheart destroys her career, reputation and her heart all in one go. The reasons are not yet revealed but he does reappear to air the past with a bang. Mia is given an offer she can't refuse and finds herself undercover at the most notorious business in her childhood neighbourhood. Insinuating herself within the business can she find out the truth and score herself a career in journalism?
Oooh her house mates are her family and the bonds between them strong. Her BFF Bri is adorable and a light in her darkness. I loved the boys; Jackson, Shane and Trey...phwoarrrr how do I get a house share with those damn fine men? They provide emotional support and stability for Mia, they are her rock and I loved each of them. I would love to be part of their wild parties!
Moving onto Ethan...he is an enigma wrapped in a puzzle tied with a pretty bow! He is a strong alpha character oozes sex appeal and control. His mood change quicker than a British summer blowing hot then cold within seconds. He has his own demons that are yet to be revealed but in Mia he finds something unexpected. They are the Conflicted...boss/employee relationship, secrets and lies...the past weighing heavily on their actions preventing a happier future.
This does end on one hell of a cliffhanger so if anyone wants me I'll be lost in my kindle.

I really loved this book, the story keeps you on your toes and keep guessing what will happen and how things will unfold. Ethan is a strong alpha man but some of the stuff he says will just make you swoon he's the perfect package. Mia is a young woman with a lot of insecurities who doesn't let anyone in but she's not annoying about it.
Some parts were a bit too long to my liking but that's just me being impatient and wanting to know how it goes as usual. Loved the interaction with the other characters and the background stories, and the link all the characters have with each other one way or another.
Really can't wait to read the next book to know what happens to Mia and Ethan but also with the more quiet characters that I feel have a HUGE part in what will unfold!
I would rate this book as 4 1/2 stars but as Amazon and Goodreads don't allow for half stars I would round up to 5 stars!

Left with all the pieces of her life to pick up and try to put back together will leave her nothing like she was before. Her life has been hard even before this happened. One choice has now put herself and her family, her friends in danger and her heart. Ethan is an Adonis. Ethan and Mia are drawn to each other and finally Mia gives in to her heart and confesses her secret to Ethan. The next day he's gone, but leaves her letter with an apology and a promise. These two characters bicker, laugh, cry and love. They are both on a journey but not all the pieces of this puzzle have been found. When Ethan tells Mia he loves her and she finally gives into her heart and tells him she loves him too, I thought I would combust with all the lovemaking going on. This book has mystery, love, loyalty, betrayal, suspense, friendship and HOTTNESS! I give this 4.5 stars.

The rug was pulled out from under Mia Ryan's life and she doesn't know why. She was in love and working toward a degree to fulfill her dream of being a journalist, then it all went away overnight. Now, months later, she's offered a chance to get herself on track, but it's dangerous and morally questionable. Her life doesn't get any simpler when she falls in lust at first sight with her new boss, Ethan Fitzgerald, who may be more problem than solution. There are a lot of mysteries in this book and it reeled me in like a fish. Mia's an interesting and frustrating character worth reading about. She has wonderful, supportive friends and possible ties to her difficulties in every direction, maybe going back farther than she's able to remember. This is the first book in the completed Secrets and Lies Series and I'm excited to start the next one.

"Conflicted" by M.M. Koenig was a great book. It's one of those pieces of fiction that sucks you in and doesn't spit you out until the end... and when it does, it makes you want more. I was very happy to learn that this is the first book in a series and that the author is going to be writing more. There are times that when I read a book, I want more and then that book doesn't end up being part of a series... this one, thankfully is part of a series. This book is a must-read for summer. It has everything a lover of romance would want: action, drama, romance, and some comedy. Check out M.M. Koenig today!

This was a very hard book for me to get through.

This one was both a Suspense and a thrilling ride.
I really had no idea where this one would take me as it started. Mia is hurt by what a person so close to her heart did to her and destroyed not only her love but also made her a spectacle in her being expelled from school in such a disgraceful manner.
So when an opportunity lands on her lap to make something of herself she takes it. Even if that involves making a deal with a man who makes her feel suspicious of him. When a higher up person of a renowned offers you a lucrative offer, you can't deny it even it sounds fishy.
Working as a mole by getting a job in the F. F. Sweeney and Fitzgerald firm was simple. Don't get attached to anyone and get the information you need and get out.
But everything gets complicated when she starts feeling the attraction for the young VP of the company, Ethan. Also when Ethan can't seem to stop staring at her and the burning chemistry is equally on both sides, she feels it more harder to stay away from Ethan.
I was like so hooked to find out what would happen next. AND OMG... THAT ENDING. 😳😳😱😱.. Sort of Déjà vu but more horrible what happens and Mia.. How's she going to handle such a thing once again. AHH.. I can't wait to find out in the next book. 💗💗💗💗💗

Oh, where do I even start? I had no expectations when I started this book but, I can honestly say that I was not disappointed. This story grips you right from the start and doesn’t let go. Honestly, I was a little frustrated because I don’t want to have to wait to find out what happens!! However, it gives me something to look forward to and I can’t wait to see how Mia’s story plays out.
Mia, oh poor Mia, was kicked out of school and had her dreams of being a journalist ripped away from her by the person she trusted the most…her ex-boyfriend. With no direction in life, she is just floating through the motions, sleeping with random men trying to feel anything. When her former advisor asks her to come in for a meeting, she didn’t know how much it would change her life. She is asked to be a mole in a company in exchange for her dream of being editor-in-chief for a prominent magazine. After much consideration, she decides to do it and is shocked to meet her new boss.
Ethan has taken a role in his father’s company, not out of need, but more out of obligation. However, his life is about to take a turn into the unexpected when Mia steps foot into his office. He is immediately drawn to her and knows she feels the same way. He is determined to make her his.
Once they start working together, it is hard to deny the chemistry they have together. It seems that Ethan is the only one able to make her feel at peace, truly wanted and she is not sure how to handle it. She took the job with his company to be a mole and knows she can’t start a relationship with him. But that doesn’t stop her from craving his touch. When she finally breaks down and gives in to their attraction, the fireworks start flying!! HOT, HOT, HOT!!
However, nothing can be that easy. When Mia tries to back out of her deal to be a mole, her life and the lives of her friends are threatened. When she starts getting followed, she knows she has no other choice but to stick it out. Her best friends and roommates are the only true family she has and they are so sweet and protective of her. I am really looking forward to the next book and seeing where Mia goes. I absolutely love when an author pairs an amazing love story with lots of suspense. It evens out the tone of the story and always keeps you guessing. This is EXACTLY what M.M. Koenig did with Conflicted.
So Mia.... After being completely destroyed both personally and professionally by the boy who made her believe he would always keep her safe, she entered into a really dark place. (I mean, who wouldn't, right?) But by a twist of fate (or was it something more sinister?) she is offered the deal of a life time. All she has to do is leave her morals at the door and gather information on company that may or may not be involved with some shady (to put it lightly) business dealings. But the reward she was offered is totally worth putting herself in danger. She has already lost everything, how bad could it be?
Well....
Ethan.... Being born into a wealthy family that owns one of the most powerful finance companies around should make him the winner of the DNA lottery, right? Wrong... He grew up with a philandering, abusive father (but he's dead now so that makes it a little better..) and a mother who left him with to fulfill her dying wish. A wish that could become lethal. But Ethan bides his time and busies himself with the daily operations at F.F. Sweeney & Company. This is where Mia and Ethan's lives collide. (I say collide because when the two of them come together is like a freight train of emotion and sexual goodness!) This is where the story gets good...
This is also I am going to say about the actual book say because I will not ruin this amazing book for you...
So M.M. Koenig... She has weaseled her way into my list. See, I read A LOT... and I also keep a list of authors who's books I will buy, recommend, gift, whatever. This book just sucked me right in. I quite literally read it in 7 hours. I missed my bedtime and read straight through the night. I just couldn't seem to stop. I kept saying "One more chapter Melissa...." but then something would happen and I HAD to know what happened next. The plot was really well done and the characters, well I fell in love with every single one. Except for Harrison. Yeah Harrison is terrifying. Mia's roommates are amazing, loyal and uber protective. They are exactly what she needed. (I wonder if M.M. Koenig mirrored these 4 after the people closest to her? If she did, she is one lucky chick!!) Anyway, she kept a good balance of emotion through the whole story. She never let the heavy moments get too heavy and most of the time you ended up laughing at Mia smart mouth or panting over the absolute scorch of Mia and Ethan's chemistry.
Like I said before, I totally think you, (yes, you!) should one click this book today. But make sure you get a nap before you pick it up because you will not be able to put it down! Ok, I could go on and on but I'll leave you with that because I have an ARC for Complicated (that would be book 2... Yes, this book is a series... How did we get so lucky?!?!) on my Kindle and its calling my name...

Mia, Bri Jackson, Shane and Trey are close friend and like family all around. They share house together and love to throw parties. Mia is the only one that is unable to finish college. Still fresh in her mind is the betrayal that she feels from ex-boyfriend Micah. He set her up to be expelled from college. When the opportunity of a lifetime comes by that she could run a department for a big publishing company. What she doesn’t realize that she would be spying on a company and what happens. Ethan is senior vice president of the company that Mia is told to spy on. When Mia meets Ethan she feels a instead connection to him. There relationship is hot and steamy from the start. Can’t wait to see what happens next with Mia and Ethan. What will be revealed about all the characters?

Conflicted is the first installment of the Secrets and Lies series. Let me know tell you, there are a lot of secrets and lies going on. Ethan and Mia are not at all what I expected but that's not a bad thing. Involved in some shady dealings, both of them are struggling to get what they need/want and make it out unscathed. Ethan is definitely an alpha male. Mia is lost, lonely, scarred and broken but trying to put herself back together. The characters are well developed. However, I did have a hard time picturing Mia. There just wasn't enough description of her for me to get a mental image. Ethan and his dimples came through pretty clear though. LOL There is a lot of push and pull between these two as well as other characters in the book. The scenes are set fairly well. I did feel like the story dragged just a little bit. The interactions between all of the cast of characters makes up for the slowness. This installment does not have an HEA and is not a stand alone. Complicated brings the next phase of the series.

She definitely has issues with trust and who could blame her when her life is destroyed by the man she loved. As I kept reading I was intrigued by where the mystery of the story would go and the author did not disappoint. When the opportunity arises to get back into journalism Mia decides to take it even though it could prove to be very dangerous, tangling with the Irish Mob. That’s just crazy, but what does she have to lose. Then she meets Ethan Fitzgerald Ethan is her boss, and devastatingly handsome, which is fine because Mia has sworn off relationships. But she can’t resist the pull towards him. The more time she spends with him the harder it is to keep the lines drawn. They both eventually give in to the sexual tension and passion follows.
The book title really says it all, between Ethan and Mia they both had a lot of conflicted feelings. Especially when Micah the ex who betrayed her comes back into Mia’s life, making it all the more messy. Micah is determined to get Mia back, to prove that his actions a year ago were done with good intentions. Mia’s relationships with her friends/roommates begin to suffer as well as tension and conflict ensues because of what Mia is doing in her life. Everyone has an opinion. Lets no forget the fact that Mia is there to get information to bring down Ethan’s company down, not really the best way to begin a relationship of any kind.
There are surprises, twists, turns and an ending that will leave you with questions and a need to read the next book immediately. If you like your romance with a bit of danger on the side give this series a try.

I hadn’t read the first book when I signed up to review Conflicted. I am glad I took the time to do that because I think I would have lost some of the intense story plot and understanding of Mia. It is one thing to say she lost everything she valued in life and felt betrayed; it is a whole new story when you experienced that drama with her.
Conflicted begins with her second chance at a career and life. Lost not due to her own choices, is her college education, a dream career in journalism, the chance at finding true love, when this chance was offered she really couldn’t pass it up. Now we all know in life that nothing comes without strings attached and there were a bunch of strings with this offer. Her goal is to obtain information for her new boss on Ethan Fitzgerald and his company.
Once that is done, she will go back to her new boss and take a long term position in his company. Now I wondered why the red flag didn’t start waving when he didn’t need a copy of the signed contract but then I am not sure she would have cared. She had a second chance and nothing was going to get in her way, especially a man or love.
I am sure by now you can assume Ethan is one sexy man who is going to make this not getting involved with the new boss difficult for Mia. At the interview she is worried about presenting herself in a manner to secure a job at Ethan’s company, but wow did his looks distract her for a bit. What is a rich sex God if he doesn’t have mommy baggage? Yes he has issues, promises that he made and the focus in life to ignore everything that gets in his way of keeping that promise, until Mia walked in his office.
So you think you know where this is going right? Well buckle up because the author takes this chance to throw in some suspense, danger and a lot of drama. Just when I thought we were over a rough patch and could see the end coming, she would throw in a new plot twist and it was saddle up for the ride all over again. Mia is still going to have to deal with her roommates and Micah, excuses, truths and through all of the angst of sorting things out, she is going to be conflicted, see perfect title, regarding her fears and feelings for Ethan and the job she set out to do so she could reclaim her life.
I felt the writing was smooth and enticing, it kept my attention and me on my toes for the whole book. Ethan was hot and the sex was passionate and steaming, best part it didn’t take away from the plot, it enhanced the story. Conflicted did end with the expectation of yet another book in this story to come, but I didn’t have that intense anger like I do with cliff hangers that leave me in the middle of a scene. The characters were well developed and I could feel a connection with each of them. I would recommend this series, but will warn you that you won’t get the full experience if you read out of order.

What Mia didn’t bank on when she accepted this job was the breathtakingly handsome executive Ethan Fitzgerald. From the first time she laid eyes on the man, he has caused feeling and emotions she didn’t think she would ever feel again and much more. Her plans to stay far away from Ethan slowly become harder and harder when he apparently has a different plan.
Ethan is such a mystery. He is closed off and distant when he is working and pulls off the unapproachable business man very well. It is apparent early on that he has taken notice in Mia and takes her by surprise on taking her from the office when she is having a very bad day. Slowly he starts to show her parts of him that exist outside the office which only draw her in closer. As much as Mia is falling for this man she can tell he is keeping things from her making him very dangerous to her.
When push comes to shove Mia finds herself between a rock and a hard place. Ethan or her friends. How will she proceed? If she tells him her secrets will he leave her or blow her cover? Are his feelings strong enough to forgive her for her secrets? Where will they go from here…?
I felt a strong connection with the characters from the very beginning. Mia has the ability to be a strong confident woman if she can work through her past and finally take that step forward. She is blessed with solid friendships to help her along the way with Bri, Trey, Jackson and Shane her roommates. Ethan is so very secretive and disconnected but he seems to be honest and open when he is with Mia. I hope that he is being truthful with his feelings and not just using Mia as a pawn to get what he wants. I like the suspense of the story and found myself reading just one more chapter to see if anything happens. Before I knew it I was at the end of the book only to have to wait for more.
I can’t wait to read Complicated to see what is next for Mia and Ethan. Will they stand strong together or has the secrets of the past tore them apart? Will they get there HEA.

I’m not the one to root for a romantic suspense but it’s hard not to like this book! M. M. Koenig knows how to set each page with fire and intrigue that will place every reader in a nonstop read-a-thon. The plot was unpredictable and deliciously tarnished with a mixture of emotions and suspense that will satisfy a reader’s taste for a heart-stopping romance. Her writing prose was a thick breath of sophisticated genius that will take you inside the book and make you feel each part of it.
I loved the dynamics of the characters in the story. The secondary ones (I totally loved Bri and Trey, even Jackson and Shane!) were a thrill and a source of entertainment throughout the book. M. M. Koenig sure knows how to keep readers intrigued with each character she builds.

Mia Ryan was an interesting mix of sophistication, intelligence, angst, and mystery. I loved exploring her mind and drowning in her words. M. M. Koenig did a flawless and thorough job in writing her mind. Mia was a woman driven by the need to put her life back on track after having it crashed by her ex boyfriend. Expelled from school and left broken by the love of her life, Mia sought strength to move forward. So when she was called by an opportunity that could haul her up to a position on one of the most influential magazines, Mia grabbed the opportunity. Only, she didn’t know that that opportunity included a drop-dead handsome and smart businessman...

Ethan Fitzgerald’s initial impact was mindblowing. I didn’t see that one coming. I guess this is what I get for not reading the teaser but my, I didn’t regret it because I loved the thrill of his appearance. Ethan was a puzzle that I totally loved exploring in this book. He exudes an aura of dominance and authority yet manages to send tingles on my heart when he surprises me with his sweet nothings and time to time softness. I would admit getting really pissed off with his bossiness at times I’ll reserve my emotions until I’ve finished the whole story.

Together, they were a couple sparked by instant attraction but distanced by their own secrets and lies that are meant to keep each other safe, but always threatens to keep them apart. The tug and pull between Mia and Ethan has kept me craving for more of them!

I really looked forward to picking up Conflicted. When I was offered to read the book for an honest review, I was more than happy to do so. I will start out by saying this book was a little difficult to get into for me. There were a lot of unanswered questions within the first two chapters, and I was really lost as to what Mia's back history was. But, M.M Koenig did not disappoint as she quickly explained what was going on with a flashback to Mia's life several years prior.
We meet Mia as she awakens from a crazy night, torn between figuring out how to remove the hunky stud that is in the bed next to her. She pulls her classic move, that she has something going on later that day, and after a quick round of under the sheets fun, he's out the door, and she's well on her way to getting her day going. Where is she heading to exactly? The college that she was expelled from for the newspaper article that plans on getting leaked about the board members of the school. She is told to leave campus immediately, and heads to her apartment that she shares with her boyfriend only to find that in ruins as well. A setup. It hits her like a ton of bricks that he betrayed her.
Flash forward to her life now. She heads back to the college where her counselor tells her that she needs to come to speak with him. Little does she know that he has an offer that she cannot refuse. She is conflicted with the offer that is given to her; be a mole for Inside Out a large magazine that uncovers businesses that do shady deals in turn of being editor and chief of one of the magazines that Inside Out prints for. She sits on the deal for a few days, and takes it without hesitation. What meets her at F.F Sweeney & Company is not what she expected.
Ethan Fitzgerald is not what Mia was expecting when she entered into the workforce at F.F Sweeney & Company. Twenty-six, gorgeous, and completely in control of his life she falls for him within days of working under him, and doesn't know if she should keep her mole persona under wraps or not. The passion that erupts between Ethan, and Mia is HOT. I really enjoyed the outstanding chemistry between the two characters. As I stated, I was a little confused in the beginning of the book, but was well rewarded with her background story.
I would give Conflicted a solid 4.5 stars. I really enjoyed the conflict that occurred throughout the book, and will be interested to see what Complicated brings. Thank you for the chance to review Conflicted!

Was the reward worth the risk?
Mia Ryan knew what it was like to struggle. Growing up in a rough part of town, being raised begrudgingly by her lone living relative, Mia knew that life wasn’t going to be easy. With a close circle of friends, their families now her family; she made it through to college to pursue her journalism degree. Excelling in her studies, editing the prestigious college’s newspaper, and being loved by Micah was everything she could hope for. A stunning betrayal had her second-guessing everything she knew as her academic career was devastated by the love of her life and her hopes of pursuing journalism became an impossible dream. Months later, Mia is still drifting through her days with no real direction while her nights are spent having loveless sex. I couldn’t help but feel for Mia as she struggled with heartache, betrayal and the loss of not only her only love but her future career as well. Spiraling downward, her friends rallied around her and I couldn’t help but cheer the way they continued to be there for her every step of the way. Mia didn’t listen when I kept telling her “don’t do it, don’t do it!” but her friends were always there regardless of the choices she made. There is delicious tension that seems to be woven throughout the pages. So many nuances and undertones as secrets hinted at are slowly revealed. Micah, the love that had betrayed her so cruelly, came back and acted nothing like the cold-hearted rat I thought he would be. So many things should be black and white but quickly the grey takes over. Suspense and love are an equal mix here and I can’t wait for the next in the series to find out what the heck is going on!

Was the reward worth the risk?

This book is aptly titled for it is a look at the conflicting feelings that reek havoc on our lives. Mia has been dealt a devastating hand, being betrayed by someone she loves has her on the verge of collapsing, and her only relief is her friends and roommates. This betrayal cost her what she thought was everything. She was expelled from college and now feels her dream to be a journalist is gone. When this happens she begins to lose herself and who she is. To try to regain a balance Mia accepts a deal that knocks her down in ways she didn’t expect. While on assignment for her new job she meets the man that blows her away but is also the one in the end she is to betray.

You feel her betrayal and feelings of being confused and lost. You also see her passion and determination. V. You will get your steamy sexy scenes and also its a mystery with tons of angst.
Ethan, the man she is spying on. The man she may ultimately lose in the end is just to good to be true. He will have you wanting to know every aspect of him inside and out. He is rich, handsome and crushworthy. He wants Mia in a bad way and the sexual tension between these two is palpable. It’s fun to watch Mia struggle over her attraction to Ethan as he divides and conquers. When they finally get together watch out your kindle will heat up.
The book and plot flows nicely and Ms. Koenig leaves you wanting more. The book is filled with angst, suspense, danger, betrayal deception and attraction. An attraction that just as it gets going a twist is put into the story and Mia’s ex adds some conflicting emotions and mucks up the waters. Why still wonder what her ex was thinking and seriously dude you did like the unforgivable do you really think you can waltz in and have all that you had back? Dream on bud at least I hope dream on??As this is happening, Micah shows that he did things for a reason and all that Mia is doing causes tension at home. We are left with so many questions to have answered and a love story to unfold in a intriguing romance that has a cliffy that leaves you wanting more.

Her ex ripped her world apart, destroyed her in every sense. She has severe trust issues because of the hurt she suffered and keeps a close guard on her heart. She fortunately has fantastic roommates who are ultimately her family.
Mia is determined to pick her life back up and a golden opportunity comes her way. But is finish line worth the risk she will take for this job? She dives in determined but cautiously and even a little guilty knowing what she has to do. Putting herself in an unknown situation that could potentionally turn dangerous and it seems like everyone is hiding something, secrets are flying all around.
Insert Ethan Fitzgerald. One of those guys that you just know you're in deep the minute you lay eyes on him. Hot, sexy and demanding. He turns her on, torments her at the same time without even trying. He has his sights set on Mia, even though she knows she needs to avoid getting involved with him simply for the reason of why she is there working in the first place and in his world. Will Ethan find out the real reason shes there and what will happen when he does?

This book is a romance and so much more. Mainly told from Mia’s point of view, I would like to hear what Ethan is thinking this whole time. The fire between Ethan and Mia, is wow. They have such an attraction and explosive chemistry. The connection she has with her roommates, just makes me want to have roommates like them. Each has a completely different personality which brings out different parts of Mia. This book will definitely have you saying WTF and keep you on your toes, not mention melting your panties off at some point! I can’t wait to see what else is in store and also see what happens with everyone else in the story. 4 out of 5 stars!
