Comprehensive and convincing

Argubright gives a thorough account of the more recent archeology that confirms the biblical narrative. However, his accounts are filled with references to the Bible and the gospel that seemed a bit "preachy." While I found these references affirming, many, I fear, may be offended by these in a book on the science of archeology.

Bible Believer's Archaeology is an excellent introduction to some of the main archeological finds related to the biblical text. His survey of ancient connections intrigues the reader and points to various scriptural texts that possibly connect to secular archaeology.

However, his references create mystery when he only summarizes them at the end of the book and avoids modern footnotes or endnotes. For this reason, connecting his quotes to a specific reference makes for another archaeological dig for the reader.

Good, to the point, but can drag.

I liked this book a lot and it really got straight to the point showing off some really impressive archeological finds that do more or less confirm the historicity of the Bible. That being said, this book would often drag towards the end of chapters, (I blame the overuse of the KJV) and I do wish some of the sources were a bit more academic, but nonetheless, this is a great starter for biblical archeology.

Good resource for the serious Bible student.

The author takes us on a journey relating archaeological finds with the well known people of the Bible. The information is very useful in silencing skeptics.

Interesting

Fascinating and full of research, this first volume gives readers anticipation for the next. Time frame estimations combined with archeological finds are thought-provoking.

Hi, I am the author of three volume book series Bible Believer's Archaeology. Since 1997 I have received various letters sent to my ministry which I would like to share. This is what a few had to say.

"Hi, I just read both the books. These are wonderful books that for believers give strength and for non believers provide the truth beyond doubt. The peace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Peace, Mark"

"Hello, my name is Faith. I am a born-again Christian; 20 years old. I always hear people questioning the evidence and history of the Bible and its events, so I happened to look for a site where I could get this information. I came across yours and it was very helpful to me. It just gave me a new reassurance in my faith in God, and His son, Jesus. I just want to tell you that I enjoyed reading this. God bless and keep you. Your sister in Christ, Faith G."

"I enjoyed reading this book, it's very intriguing and enjoy the history. Kelly P."

"A friend of mine lent me the book "Bible Believer's Archaeology" and I would like to have a copy for me to use in my ministry. I read some of the book and what little I read so far I really enjoyed it. So if you could let me know how I can get one. Deborah K."

"I received the book "Bible Believer's Archaeology" and enjoyed it very much. Bro. Jackson"

"John, what you have done is so extremely important that I am lost for words to describe it. Why so, because how many times have you tried to witness to people and they say, "Ah you can't believe that stuff in the Bible - It's so old and out of date that its meaningless. Now more than at any other time in my life, and I'm 73 years old, when I get that kind of response I feel fully armed to welcome the challenge by giving them a copy of your book so that they can see and convict themselves as to how terribly wrong that they were and that we serve a living God - not just some ethereal whatever way out there somewhere. My wife is in Chicago taking care of some family business and will be back on Labor Day and I can't wait to hand your book to her. She's been on fire for the Lord anyway and she'll be jumping up and down waiting to share this with her ladies group where she volunteers. I'll have more for you later but wanted to let you know how excited about your book that I am. You've done a tremendous job. Praise the Lord. Gene B."

"Just a few words to say that I really enjoy your book, Not only is it informative but it is laid out in grand fashion. Rev. George M."

"What a great work you have done. The time you have taken, the effort, and the cost to present Jesus Christ as Messiah, Saviour, and Lord to people who are lost is really awesome. Thank you for providing me with some much needed encouragement at this time in my life. Harold C."
