When your name is Dante Divine, people expect great things, and Dante wasn’t one to disappoint. The successful entrepreneur knew how to put on a show and help men and women alike explore their most decadent fantasies. So why, after hosting thousands of freak parties and coordinating hundreds of hookups and happily-ever-afters, was she single?
Kenshin Sato didn’t miss a Divine party. During the day, he enjoyed the competitive world of finance. But after five o’clock, he distanced himself from the traditional and stringent reality of his accountant’s life and disappeared into the realm of delicious fantasy where pleasure pulled him ever closer to the edge.
When Dante Divine, tells him she’s done with freak parties, he knows he has to act, for, it wasn’t the parties that kept him coming back, it was her. Party after party, he’d witnessed life extinguish her flame, but tonight he meant to relight Dante’s flame once and for all.
RaeLynn Blue is the author of numerous tales of erotic interracial romance and speculative romance. With an imagination that's varied and diverse, her tales explores love in all its many shades, situations and scenarios. She fell into romance stories at the ripe age of eleven and has been writing stories ever since. A humble scribbler of tales, RaeLynn is actively writing another story of lust, love, and romance.
Remember those days when romance books were the size of bricks or doorstops and you could spend days, or even weeks, immersing yourself in the breath and scope of undying love? Well, save for a few instances, those days are over and more's the pity, especially for a book which features my favourite IR pairing--Black Woman/Asian Male (damn you Shiree McCarver, LOL!).
Divine Party was too damn short and I am not pleased, hence the four stars. I loved Dante Divine (so many wonderful connotations with her first and last name), who represents the kind of brassy, in-your-face, unapologetic sexuality that I love to see in my heroines. I mean, I loved the idea of her running erotic parties as a legitimate business. How did she get into such a business? What was the reaction of family and friends when she announced this was her calling? I don't really want to read a whole bunch of short stories for background. I want the details and the angst and the passion right then and there. Not to mention RaeLynn Blue is a hell of an author who's got the chops to pull off a full-length Dante book.
Then there's stud-muffin, melt my panties Kenshin Sato. OMG, I wanted more of him and then some. It is just all kinds of awesome that asian males are slowly starting to get more love in the romance department because I have always found them attractive and fun to be around. Kenshin's been attending Dante's parties since Day One, knowing that he's got man-candy written all over him. But he's a one-woman man, and the luscious Ms. Divine is that woman. Kenshin is the kind of alpha whom too many authors FAIL at crafting well. He doesn't belittle, stalk or behave badly towards the woman he loves. He is incredibly patient, because he knows Dante's got to bury some ghosts in her past. In spite of how badly he wants to make love to her, Kenshin pulls back to give her time to decide their love is worth taking a risk on.
Even the peripheral characters--Dante's bodyguards who keep her parties safe, sane and consensual--were awesome and another reason why this needed to be a bigger book.
The last reason why I'm mad at Ms. Blue for not making this a longer and juicier tale: the sex scenes were scorching HOT! Again, a woman who knows what she wants in bed paired with a man who knows how to bring it. And you only give me soimething like seventy-five (or less) pages? So not cool, LOL!
Having said all that, if you're in the mood for a quickie and aren't a big, epic chick like me, Divine Party will whet your appetite. For all who need their Asian male fix, you can feed the need here.
