This is the fifth issue from Batman: Gotham Adventures and I got the series on Kindle because my kids and I enjoy the Batman Animated Series on Television that first ran in the 1990s. We also enjoyed this series based upon the animated feature and this issue didn’t disappoint!
The story in this issue is titled “Polar Opposite” and it involves the villain Mr. Freeze. Bruce Wayne wants to help Victor Fries (Mr. Freeze real name) and while Bruce Wayne visit the medical facility to help a reluctant and bitter Victor Fries a man bursts the wall in gear that is similar to Mr. Freeze. This new villain wants to kill a scientist and Bruce Wayne attempts to stop this man but instead is frozen by this villain. To stop this new villain the Bat team (Nightwing and Batgirl) puts Mr. Freeze back into his suit to go after this villain whom Mr. Freeze knows personally. Adventures follow as they go about trying to stop the villain and just when Mr. Freeze thinks he can do whatever he wants a twists follow! I thought it was a fun read!

Just a note to say that all of these Gotham Adventures comics have pretty amazing covers!
”Polar Opposites” has Mr. Freeze’s head separated from his body.
”I refuse to submit to your butchery and probing, Dr. Brodie.”
Meanwhile Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake are accompanying Dr. Francis D’Anjou through Wayne Tech as the head of their new ‘Immortality Project’.
Bruce introduces Francis to Victor Fries.. head. Just then Grant Walker, in a Mr. Freeze outfit blasts into the lab. This could make you think that Wayne Tech security kind of sucks, but he actually did it with a hovercraft going up to the tenth floor.
Grant herds the scientists into the hovercraft. Grant was apparently frozen into an iceberg two years ago and transformed into a Mr. Freeze like being whose body will be destroyed just like Victor. He’s about to kill Victor when Bruce jumps on him. Grant then fires his own freeze gun, freezing Bruce Wayne’s head to the floor.
Tim removes the ice from Bruce’s head but he is still out cold. Tim calls Nightwing and Batgirl for help.
When they mention that Francis was kidnapped Victor insists he go with them because his widow, Nora married him.
So Nightwing, Mr. Freeze (head put back on body) and Batgirl go looking for Grant. Mr. Freeze knows Grant well enough to find him.
Grant is forcing the scientists he kidnapped to save his life.
”Back to work my science slaves…”
Mr. Freeze ditches Nightwing and Batgirl and goes to kill Grant.
That was a weird story and it would surprise if somewhere there wasn’t a backstory about Grant Walker and his evil plans.
The art was great as usual. The story was good though weird. 3 stars.
