Batman: Gotham Adventures #8

More than the scenery is strange when Batman and Batgirl go to Paris on the trail of the League of Assassins. In the shadow of Notre Dame Cathedral, they clash with a dark and grotesque gargoyle-like creature.

This is the eighth issue from the Batman: Gotham Adventures series. I love the Batman Animated Series in the 90s and this is a comic book based upon that. The story here in this issue is titled “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and in this adventure Batman and Batgirl is in Paris because a French detective Anton Legere have asked Batman for help. The detective wants to get to the bottom of whether or not the League of Assassins are operating in France. It is up to Batman to interrogate a criminal but as the criminal attempts to escape several times he runs into a monster looking creature and we learn more about this creature and his origin. This story would continue with Batman going to another place outside of Gotham that is continued in the next adventure. I really love the illustration and the attention to details with the Parisian background.

“Chapter 2: The Hunchback of Notre Dame” I’ve already read from the “Batgirl: A League of Her Own” collection. I gave it 5 stars. I think the art is a real standout in how to do ‘Timm’ but make it more suited to comics. Incredible use of varying panel layouts.

Felt like it shoehorned an unnecessary detail related to Clayface.
