Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

He Walks Among Us by Christy Barritt - 4 Stars
Book 2 in the True Crime Junkies Series

BLOG POST: https://bookloveramanda.blogspot.com/...

Members of the Arctic Circle Murder Club are BACK together to discuss their next case! Things get derailed though when 3 bodies emerge from an icy river nearby and a friend of one of the victims pleads for help.

I really enjoyed this one, it reminded me of a TV show you might see out there. Amateur detectives, crime podcast, side mysteries to solve - really liked it. Would like a bit more details to progress on the side mysteries but all in all - not bad. Also, if there is going to be a romance....hinted at, let's solve what needs to be solved to get the romance going LOL

I like the characters in general - the mystery was a bit unsettling with the POV of the killer. Who the killer was surprised me, as usual - since I never guess these things.

Enjoyed the faith elements sprinkled throughout. Looking forward to reading the next one.

He Walks Among Us by Christy Barritt returns to her world of would-be crime fighters who want to solve crimes while sharing all their findings with a podcast. The story idea is relevant to all the crime podcasts that are out there. However, I have never listened to one. Kind of like audiobooks. Can’t do it. However, I do enjoy that the story is longer than her previous novels. The plot is so engrossing that I fly through the pages of the story. I love a good story that features a serial killer. They are interesting, and I’m really glad that Barritt did not show who the killer was. They are left in their pronouns, so I had to guess the whole time. Readers are still wondering about romance in the novel between the main hero and heroine. A little more spark this time. Nothing over the top. There is a third book coming out in this series, so maybe Barritt will explore this a little more. I like the setting of Alaska. Wild. Open. Unexplored. Makes the killer idea a little creepier. Overall, He Walks Among Us by Christy Barritt is a little different than what she normally writes, but it still fits in with the cozy mystery theme that Barritt is known for. No horror elements or anything like that. I would recommend it to young readers who are fans of a good mystery.

I received a complimentary copy of He Walks Among Us by Christy Barritt, but the opinions stated are all my own.

This is an excellent page turner with non stop action. When the Arctic Circle Mystery Club members came together to investigate the mystery of the Missing Women of Dalton Highway, they get pulled into another case involving a serial killer and 3 women's frozen bodies pulled from a nearby river.
This story has a great storyline with some conflict among the members and some tense moments, but who the killer was surprised me.

The Arctic Circle Murder Club ride again in book 2. The podcast band meet up in Fairbanks to work the Missing Women of Dalton Highway, but get waylaid into working a case at the hotel where they are staying. Women are frozen and found in the river near the hotel.

I kept turning the pages and didn’t want to put it down. Definitely ready for the 3rd book. As a huge Lantern Beach fan, I’m not surprised Christy has another amazing series on her hands.

I am really enjoying this series. The characters are interesting and realistic. We are getting to know the characters as they are getting to know one another. The mystery is well plotted and keeps the reader on their toes. It is well written.

"He was going to kill her, wasn't he? Why had she allowed hopelessness to lead her to the worst decision of her life?"

They were back together again; signaling the first official meeting of the Arctic Circle Murder Club. Minutes after convening at the plush Grayling Lodge in Fairbanks, Alaska they were interrupted by a disturbance along the icy river bank along the edge of the property. Suddenly their focus changed, instead of covering The Missing Women of Dalton Highway on their first official true crime podcast, they began to investigate what they had officially dubbed as The Ice Fairy Killer. What kind of demented mind froze victims in an ice sculpture, dressed like fairies?

Former attorney Andi Slade and retired military investigator Duke McAllister both have their own agendas to pursue on this four day venture, their combined skills serving as an anchor for their podcast team whose amateur abilities filled in the gaps with tech savvy and knowledge of the area. When the members start poking around in the pasts of the three victims, they find very few connections. Meanwhile, it becomes obvious that the perpetrator is aware of their curiosity . . . . "What's really going on is that someone in this group is going to eventually be killed . . . . " . . . goodness, we hope not.

Prepare yourself for dizzying amounts of twists and turns, ups and downs, two steps forward, three steps back. . . . . a virtual escape room full of clues, but the key never opens the door. . . . until the very, very, very end. And for those wondering if Andi and Duke make any progress dismantling their walls. . . . . there's a glimmer of hope.

"Maybe together, that's what they found. Hope. Hope away from the secrets of their past. Hope in community. Hope in finding something they were passionate about. Duke would also say hope in God. Andi had prayed for the first time in what seemed like forever."

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First, if you haven’t read the first book in this series (Just the Nicest Person) stop reading this review and go find yourself a copy! They should be read in order.

“It’s creepy to think this guy is out there living life as a free man”. She shivered. “That he’s walking among us, and people probably don’t even realize the evil he’s capable of.”

After their first wildly successful True Crime podcast ,the gang is back together in hopes of investigating The Missing Women of Dalton Highway. They only have a few days together but their plans take a crazy turn when several missing women are pulled from a river running right by their hotel.
Nothing goes as planned. Threats are made. The killer taunts them. Someone knows they are investigating and is determined to sabotage everything.
When they stumble upon shocking new evidence, it threatens to tear the podcasters apart for good and let a killer on the loose.

•This book was even better than the first one! I loved how all of the main characters from the first book were a part of this one as well. Because of this, you get to skip the “get to know the character” phase and jump straight in.

•I couldn’t put this book down. It has lots of suspense and edge of your seat action. I love how she continues to weave the mystery from Book 1 into the 2nd book. After reading this one, I absolutely can’t wait to read the last book in this series to get the rest of the answers! 😍

Well done, Christy Barritt!

I'm not a "true crime" junkie, but this series ALMOST makes me want to be one. (Almost)

But what this story gives readers is a unique setting, Alaska, though not at the Arctic Circle for this edition, and an interesting twist because of the elements that you face in Alaska.

The Arctic Circle Murder Club formed out of a need of survival in book one of this series. After successful solving one murder they want to tackle finding out who's behind the missing women of Dalton Highway. Instead they find themselves thrust into a disturbing "case" where women are being frozen dressed in fairy costumes.

This story takes some great twists and turns with the substories that are playing through this series. I honestly didn't see it coming when it became clear who was behind the murders.

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series and seeing how things play out for both Duke and Andi.

If you enjoy Christy Barritt's writing this is another great one. A little "darker" than her Squeaky Clean or The Sidekick's Survival Guide. But this one is VERY good!

Disclaimer: I did receive this book from the author but was under no obligation to provide a review. All opinions expressed are my own.

The Arctic Circle Murder Club is back and trying to solve another cold case. This one is personal. Their efforts are interrupted, though, when a disturbing new case practically falls in their laps. They feel obligated to find and stop the disturbed individual who's committing these heinous crimes.

This was chilling, and I don’t just mean the temperature. The villain was truly creepy, and the chapters from their point of view gave me goosebumps and made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. They were such a twisted individual! I had my suspicions about who the guilty party was, but there were a couple of other suspects I thought it could’ve been, so I was never 100 percent sure.

The Arctic Circle Murder Club is a great team. Each one of the members brings something special and unique to the group. They may have their differences and arguments sometimes, but they work so well together.

There was never a dull moment. I was surprised quite a few times by some of the twists the story took. There were multiple mysteries, and while one of them was solved, the others are left for the next book, which I’m so anxious to get my hands on!

This the 2nd in the series. Andi Slade and her group of friends that formed the Arctic Circle Murder Club, is going to meet again to try to solve another murder. This one is the Missing Women of Dalton Highway. Duke McAllister, also a member, doesn't let anyone know other then Andi, that one of the women missing is his fiancee, Celeste. When the others join them at the hotel, they are instantly drawn into another murder. Someone is dumping women dressed as fairy in the river behind the hotel they are staying at.

Now they are approached by one of the murdered women's best friends and she recognizes the truecrime podcast group and asks that they help find the serial killer. Not wanting to leave the case that they intended to work on, they agree, but they are still going to partner up and try to solve both cases at the same time.

But will Duke admit to the group that he is personally involved in investigating the Missing Women murder because of his fiancee? Will Duke ever give up searching for her and see that Andi is falling in love with him. Can they solve another case because one of them is taken as a victim?

In the second book of the series, the new group of true crime podcasters gather to investigate the Missing Women of Dalton Highway, one of whom was Duke's fiancee. On the first day of their weekend together, three women are pulled out of a frozen river beside their hotel. The women are all dressed in fairy costumes. Now they are thrown into another serial killer investigation while Duke still looks into the disappearance of his fiancee and Andi watches the corrupt man from her past whom she wants to take down.
Great book! Read it in like a day and a half. Love the characters, especially Simmy. They're believable and intriguing. Awesome, unique plot with plenty of action and a lot going on. Sympathetic victims who led lonely lives (inspiring to reach out more to people who seem lonely). I was getting a little annoyed with Duke for getting jealous any time Andi so much as spoke to another man. Overall, great book.

I am loving this new series from Christy Barritt! I loved the first book being set in the wilds of Alaska and learning about the area. In the second book, all the main characters get back together in the city to discuss further the mystery of the missing women of Dalton Highway. But before they can dig into that mystery, another one is presented to them in the form of frozen bodies pulled from the river. As the groups splits up and goes different directions, distrust builds up in some, secrets are suspected, and the group begins to fracture. But they need to stick together to protect each other from a murderer. I got very invested in this book and could not figure out whodunit until the very end. I received a copy of this book for review but the opinions are my own.

Another page-turning story written by Barritt, brilliantly written with a surprise ending that startled me yet kept my full attention. I don't recommend this as a stand-alone. If it's possible this story is even COLDER than the last one because the victims end up being frozen in ICE, brrr. Could not figure out who the culprit was and there are still a few plot points that haven't been explained, including an incomplete investigation on Celeste (Duke's fiance) that leaves more questions than answers. There are four books in this series and none of them can be skipped if you truly want to get to the bottom of things. Ranger and Duke tried changing their minds in this one, knew that wouldn't keep. Gotta get Book 3!

He Walks Among Us: a Chilling Alaskan Mystery

Another fantastic mystery and suspense story by Ms Christy Barritt. The second book of the series follows the True Crime team as they investigate their most recent case. The team is back together again but instead of the Arctic Circle they meet in Fairbanks. They are suppose to be investigating the missing women of Dalton Highway where Duke’s fiancée disappeared. However, shortly after they arrive at the hotel a current case opens up for them to be entangled in solving. Will they be able to find justice for the ones who have died or will they die trying?

I had an ARC for this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Wow! Great series and another riveting book by Christy Barritt. This series has a brother and sister, and four other people who get together and try to solve murders. As they plan to look at disappearances of women along the Dalton highway, three women’s bodies are found in the river just outside their hotel so they focus on trying to prevent more women being taken. This book will keep you guessing at who is to blame and wondering who will be next.

An intense suspense read that will keep you engaged and wondering who is the serial killer. Set in Alaska amid the snow and ice, this psychotic killer uses the elements to aid his bizarre murders and treatment of victims. It’s morbid, but not so scary it gives nightmares—rather it pulls you in to the search for who is behind the ice killings in this clean thriller. The story stands on its own, but it does continue with the characters we met in book one of the True Crime Junkies series and their efforts to solve crimes. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Frozen in Time

Several podcasters gather to solve crimes. But what each of them don't know is that each of them are hiding a secret. They have traveled to Alaska to investigate women who have gone missing on the highway. But before they can even start to investigate, a woman is pulled out from underneath the frozen river. Investigating the Highway Killer will have to wait.
Danger lurks for the group as they investigate. Can they save the killers next victim? They have to hurry as it is one of their own. Excellent characters and good flow of book. Enjoyable read.

Murder Mystery without bad language

I love mysteries, but sometimes I don't like the language in them. This one has no bad language and even has Christian principles. The murder club meets again to solve a serial murder. This is one book I didn't figure out until the very end. There is also a hint of a budding romance. I can hardly wait to read the next book in the series. Christy Varsity is becoming one of my favorite authors. She is a very good mystery writer, and you don't have to worry about bad language in her books.

Loved this book

Another great Christy Barritt book! This is the 2nd book in a series, and I can't wait for the next one! All the characters mesh well together, which makes the story come alive. I'll be honest and say I don't read the parts of the book where the killer is talking out his creepy thoughts. It's a bit too scary. The author is excellent, and this book will keep you turning pages.

This book “He Walks Among Us”, in the True Crime Junkies series is full of suspense and twists throughout that have the reader guessing who the suspect is. Andi and Duke, the two main characters, in a group of very interesting “true crime junkies”. As dead women are pulled from a frozen river, the true crime junkies pursue solving the crime. The suspense in this story is outstanding. The ending is a shocker. A must-read book in this series!

If you haven’t read book one - do so. You’ll thank me later. Too much going on with these characters and story to be distracted with confusion. The storyline is disturbing and trust me you’ll recognize every little sound in your house while reading. More layers of the characters get pulled back which has me liking them more. There’s enough suspense and intrigue to keep you going all night. I can’t wait for book 3. Enjoy!

My thoughts: This is the second book in this series. Fans will want to read the first book, but the second one does standalone for the most part. I enjoyed reading it except for parts that were spooky and creepy. There is a good faith message, and fans of cozy mysteries will likely love this book. I couldn't put it down I had to keep reading and find out what happened next.  Ms. Barrett's books are fast paced.  I purchased a copy and was not required to write a review.

4.5/5 stars. The perfect combination between Mystery and Alaska. I loved how this book just makes you want to read it all at once. The mystery and murders that happened in this book were unique. I love how she makes the characters feel so real. The relationships between the characters was a little too fast, so it felt a little bit unrealisitic. Eaither way, I love this book and would recommend it to anyone who wants a murder mystery set in Alaska.

Whoa!

This is why I m not an author. I don’t know what to say! It sounds cliche to say, “Hold on to your seat!”, and “There are so many twists and turns.” But, hold on to your seat! There are so many twists and turns! Don’t worry. You’ll catch your breath a while after you turn the last page. What a ride!

What a consuming, twisted story which introduces new crimes to solve as well as a continuing investigation which stretches the group to the breaking point. Hope and interconnection battle frustration and fear on many levels. Book three is coming soon.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Great characters, amazing storytelling…kept me involved and guessing til the very end. Together people are stronger. “And if one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.”

He Walks Among Us is one of those suspense books that will have you questioning whether it was a story pulled straight from the headlines. Barritt pulls you into this one right from the start and she includes a little more creepiness in this one than others. If you’re a fan of true crime podcasts, you don’t want to miss out on this series!
