Luna is eleven years old when she finds her parents murdered by the Hunters. They have been hunting her kind for centuries, causing much death and destruction along their way.
After years of preparation, Luna sets her plan in motion to avenge her parents. She does so by going to a camp for Elementars. There it quickly becomes clear to everyone how special Luna really is. She might be an Elementar, but her power goes far beyond that. Everyone assumed that the power she held had died along with her ancestors. They were wrong.
Luna has spent her entire life in the shadows, but that time has come to an end. After years of waiting, she finally gets her an encounter with the Hunters. But does it go as she had planned?
There's an interesting idea buried in The Elementars, but it’s smothered by underdeveloped writing and characters that felt more like sketches than people. The tone leaned heavily toward middle-grade, but without the charm or cohesion that makes those reads work. I kept waiting for the story to click or build momentum—and it never really did. Definitely not the worst thing I’ve read, but a missed opportunity for sure.
The Elementars is a fantastic read about Luna, who is the last of a long line of powerful elementals. Luna is an extraordinary character that wants to avenge her parents’ death, but as the story goes on there is so much more to her that I really enjoyed. This story involves magic and it really made me love reading this! I’m a huge fan of fantasy books, especially when they’re written like this one is. There’s a mix of adventure, love, and conflict and definitely a perfect read for all fantasy lovers!
I cannot wait to see what Lyan writes next, because I’ll definitely be reading it!
From someone who isn't wild about YA this book was actually really good. It's fast paced and doesn't focus solely on world building but characters instead! This was a thrilling fantasy adventure following Luna an elemental. But not just any elemental, the last of her kind. This book gave me all the Divergent, Harry Potter, Maze Runner and Avatar the Last Airbender vibes and I loved it! There was excellent banter and some flirting and tension too. There's magic and magic animal companions too (who doesn't love magical pets?) This book ends on a cliffhanger but rest assured Lyan is already writing the second one.
If you love magic and action this book will keep you on the edge of your seat! Give Lyan and Luna a chance and check out this book! You won't regret it.
Just amazing! I got carried away in this beautiful story from the start! It’s a good enemies to lovers fantasy book with lots a magical creatures and a rebellion independent woman as the lead role! Definitely worth the read, highly recommend it! Can’t wait till the next book!
Great story, so different to what I normally read, more about surviving, revenge and friendship. I really enjoyed this book. I hope there is a book 2 soon because that cliff hanger off a ending was something..
Love the idea and the storyline of The Elementars, but its just not complete. i couldnt love a character or hate them there is just no depth in the character creation. The writing is okay its easy to read.
