There’s a lot in life that comes hella easy for me. Turning heads with my stellar looks, strutting like a peacock with my smooth moves and adorable charm. Heck, need ideas for party shots or fresh recipes to make your friends jealous? I’m your guy.
It’s not even a front—my epic modesty—but that doesn’t mean I’m not a lying liar who lies.
What is definitely not easy is holding so much of myself back from my friends.
Or from myself.
It’s a truth that sucks.
But I can’t do that anymore, and it’s absolutely 100 percent my best friend’s fault.
Since our first college basketball practice, Bentley’s been by my side. He’s sweet, understanding, supersmart, and absolutely smoking hot. What’s more, he’s too good for me.
What I should do is keep our friendship platonic, but apparently patience isn’t my strong suit. Go figure.
Cue me starting something with him that I find impossible to stop, walk away from, or admit aloud.
But loving him… heck if that doesn’t become the easiest thing I’ve ever done. I just need to find a way to be worthy of his love and for him to stay patient as I pull my head out of my ass and give him the world he deserves.

Sammy and Bentley have been the bestest of best friends and teammates all through college. They live in each other's pockets, there are no boundaries between them, they are codependent. Sammy has been hiding something from his past, he's secretly gay but when he was 15 his dad caught him with a boy and beat the boy nearly to death and is now in jail. Sammy hasn't done anything sexual since. Bentley has always thought he was straight but his closeness with Sammy is making him rethink it. In junior year, Sammy while drunk loses his control and makes a move on Bentley. They hook up. Sammy who was really struggling with his sexuality and past trauma, can't confront what they're doing, he can't talk about it. But Sammy keeps getting the two of them drunk or at least making them seem like they're drunk so that he can have the excuse to hook up with Bentley and pretend it didn't happen or that he didn't remember it happening. They continue this circle into senior year. But then they finally start talking and addressing what's going on and how they feel. But Sammy's dad is up for parole and the dad has threatened Sammy's life because he's extremely homophobic and wants to scare Sammy straight or punish him for being gay. So they have that to deal with.
This was an okay book. There were things that I liked about it and there were things that I didn't.
I liked the codependent friendship that Sammy and Bentley shared, I like characters that are as close as they were. They had a really deep friendship, they loved each other so hard before it was even sexual. I liked elements of them having a secret relationship. The tension of sneaking around, the reveal when people finally find out that they're together has payoff. The reveals to their close family, their friend groups, their coach were great. They got married in college, and in a moment I'll say why I didn't like that but in a way I also appreciate the early commitment to their forever love. I liked the supportive characters in their family and friend groups.
What I didn't like... - I was uncomfortable with them hooking up while drunk only and never talking about it for a whole 7 months. That was so long. That was so toxic and unhealthy for them to be doing, and it wasn't fair to Bentley that Sammy played this charade. Granted Sammy was doing it because he was struggling with his sexuality and he mentally was not ready so I understood that it wasn't that Sammy wasn't a****** or a player or a commitment-phobe. - I hated how fast they moved the first time they really talked about deep s**** and acknowledged that they were in a relationship and wanted to be in that relationship. In that very first conversation, they said I love you and Sammy asked Bentley to marry him and Bentley said yes. I'm a person that has sensitivity to mental health issues and I'm protective of people who are vulnerable. So as I was reading this, my gut reaction was that this was very inappropriate, Sammy was not in a good place and him leaping from one extreme to another is dangerous to indulge. I thought Bentley should have said not now and they needed to talk more and maybe Sammy needed to see somebody professionally. - I was disappointed that their first time together was completely fade to black/closed door. For me, the first time that two characters have sex together is an important culmination of the sexual tension between them. And with us not getting to see that moment where the sexual tension between them finally broke, it just feels like we missed out. - A minor thing that bugged me was that the tropes of this book listed virgin MCs, and only Sammy was. I was slightly disappointed that we didn't get two virgins equally pining over each other for 3 years. Don't label your tropes incorrectly, I would have been happier reading it without that mislabel creating an expectation. - I liked that the epilogue took us to them at age 35, but I wish we'd seen more of their lives at 35 than just their career development. I'd like to have seen what their friendships looks like because found family with their roommates and teammates were so important to the book series.
Also I'm not putting this under the positives or the negatives but this book gives off really strong fade to black vibes in the sex scenes. Some things are completely fade to black. There is some on page sex but be on page sex is over very fast, it's not that sensual. So if good smut is important to you this is a low smut read.
Some notable moments:
Funny "“The whole fucking household is riding the queer train.” A smile pulls up my lips, feeling so fucking good. “How epic is that?” My brows shoot high when I think about what Tyron said in the car. Fuck, was that seriously just a couple of mornings ago? “Tyron’s got that statistic he spouted about so damn wrong. Five of us on the team.” I snicker, falling into the familiar sensation of ease. “He’s going to lose his shit and compile his own study or something.”"
Their poor coach has been through it lol. "“Fucking hell.” Another headshake. “Married? It totally makes sense… that’s the thing.” He doubles down with amusement, a wide grin forming. “It’s a shame you’re going to wait till graduation. I swear, missing out on Coach’s reaction is a pity.” I snort. “Screw you, man. It may be the final queer straw that breaks the coach’s back.”"
*FYI about steam: I rate steam based on a combination of quality & quantity. I note kink separate from steam because I don't want to underrate steamy reads that don't have much kink.
**Note about spoilers: I like to comment on the plot of a book in reviews, so I almost always mark my reviews as containing spoilers. But I try to avoid spoiling the big dramatic moments! As a reader, I personally like to know what I'm getting into before I read a book so I know more about the content and if it's to my taste/mood, so I try to give that information in my reviews for myself when I'm considering rereading and also for other readers.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I've been waiting for Bentley and Sammy since they were introduced and I absolutely loved their story!
There's a lot going on throughout the story, but I love how they're just there for each other no questions asked.
What did bother me though is that the scene where they tell Bentley's parents that they're in a relationship is classed as bonus content and only available on Ream. This feels kinda icky because it's part of their story, not additional content? There's an additional bonus scene that doesn't seem integral to the story which I'm not bothered by, but gatekeeping this part of the story when we got to see Sammy's parents' reactions as well as their housemates reactions 'included' in the book just feels weird to me. There was all this build up about how they'd react but then we're told after the fact that it had happened, but if we want to know exactly what went on you have to subscribe to another service. 🤷🏻♀️
***** I received an ARC of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review
Bentley and Sammy have been best friends for over three years, they are affectionate, gosh Bentley wishes they were more, no chance, Sammy is straight. Little does he know.
Sammy is scarred and traumatized and because of what happened he can never be with Bentley. Imagine if history would repeat, no he can’t! Until he can’t resist the attraction any more. Only, it has to stay secret, nobody can know!
Bentley is happy with what Sammy is willing to give. They dance around each other, yearning and pining, when there are people around, and hot encounters when it’s just the two of them.
Around Thanksgiving they give each other something precious, read for yourself! They fit so well, supportive and loving! Let’s say Sammy needs all the support!
This read was quite on the heavy side, not all the time, there’s enough fun, but sweet Sammy has a bunch of stuff to overcome! There’s a lot of banter, I did scroll a bit, I wasn’t in the right mind for it. The family matters were sharp, and a good counterbalance to all the sweetness. Both guys are endearing and deserve their HEA, thank goodness they got it!
Overall a nicely written story, with a good plot and lovable characters.
It's always a great sign when you don't want the book to end. In this case, I also didn't want the series to end! I love well-developed groups of characters, and I especially love when you get to spend time with all of the characters in a series within each book.
I will always love any enemies to lovers tropes, but this best friends to lovers story is incredible. The first half of the book has so much plot and story, considering that this one runs concurrently with Leon & Tiller's book #3 that I was surprised, until I finished the book and realized that the build up to their physical relationship wasn't nearly as important as them realizing their emotional and lasting connection as the story continued. With any great romance, those spicy moments are always incredible, but for Sammy & Bentley, it was just a "perk" of their solid friendship and relationship.
Sammy & Bentley are the epitome of best friends, and it was funny to see how many of their friends knew that their connection was more than that, but it took them so long to realize it. I loved that Bentley supported Sammy fully, even before he knew the "whole" story of Sammy's past. Sammy is really run through the emotional gamut in this book. In particular, the incredibly tense scenes from the climactic basketball game and after were difficult to read, but it wouldn't be a happily ever after if the outcome is wasn't perfect.
I am bummed that the Fast Break series by Becca Seymour is over, but I can fully recommend the series to anyone who loves fun basketball stories with quirky and protective characters. Easy, Schmeasy! is a great finale and I love that Sammy & Bentley's epilogue really gives them the life they earned and deserve. ❤️
I received an advance copy of this book and am volunteering my honest review.
Trope: Basketball college Teammates Bestfriend to lovers Secret relationship Bi awakening Virgin Closeted gay with past trauma
TW: Homophobic parent Hate crime
It's been a long time since a book scotch me in this place like that. I absolutely love it. It was a rollercoaster of feelings. I went from giddy, to love, frat biy dynamic, bypassing hate, doubt, understanding friend and so much more.
Love the characters, their personnality and their complexe unsolve emotional bagage. The author have a way to make us fall hard. At first I thought maybe I will found it too long and dragging since it was way more pages than I'm use to, but she manage to balance it all perfectly and the page just flew so fast. I wanted soooo much more. ( And I will... *Bonus scene) I was not ready to say goodbye.
Quick note on the side character who everyone though was kinda clueless but is soooo much clever and play big part to accept all of this. AmAzing!
The team. The friends. The college thought. The impulsivity. The coming out. The publicly accidental coming out. The family. Love love love! Only negative point for MY part, there were a LOT of sexy time. But I understand that for some its a positive point.
Both characters knows what they were in for and even if it was heartbreaking at some point (my heart was aching with the character when he was doubting about the outcome of this relationship) as we understand the trauma, it still have step to accept it and pass over it. It was part of accepting the thruth, his true self, and admit to his family the big secret he was keeping all this year.
Easy, Schmeasy is a low-angst, best friends to lovers (and idiots to lovers 😅), interracial romance. I am honestly glad I found out about this author because the author’s writing is right up my alley. There is low-angst between the couple (the title is very much fitting, at the beginning the men struggle with their feelings though), some angst outside their relationship and very interesting relationship development that took me by surprise. I normally do not read contemporary sports romance but the hurt/comfort won me over and I cannot complain. It delivered.
The two MCs have such strong feelings for each other that they will do anything to be together. I loved their worries and their communication. It made sense even if they changed their mind about things. They really felt human and… normal. There is no miscommunication or evading a problem. I love to see that in a romance - when they deal with issues as maturely as possible.
There is tons of spice. In the first part of the novel, most of it is off-page. But oh boy. Once we get to now… it just kept on coming (no pun intended lol) and it was just so hot and on-page. Tons of dirty talk, tons of detail and I was surprised I did not get bored by the spicy scenes. The last chapter did feel rushed but the bonus content is available so I think it compensates for the missed scene or two.
Despite this being part of a series, I had no problems reading this as a standalone. There are established couples but nothing spoilery so even if the reader decides to read the previous books, they will not be robbed of the experience.
I received a copy of this book from Gay Romance Reviews, and this is my honest review.
This was a cute story and I loved how they were for each other no questions asked whatsoever but I do have some complaints.
I was really frustrated alot during the book. How are they best friends but hook up only when drunk and then don't talk about it for so long?!?!!?!! Ummm huh 🤔 I did not like that we didn't get Bentley's parents reaction when it was built up so much, we got everyone everyone. I felt like that was just as important to the overall story as the others reactions.but we have to subscribe to somewhere else in order to get it. I mean I get it from the authors standpoint but it was a major ick.
Bentley and Sammy are BF's on the same college basketball team. Both want more and Sammy will pretend to drink too much to follow through but his Dad is in prison for beating up a past boyfriend so Sammy pretends it's not more. It's a long journey for these two to finally be free to be with each other. Filled with sexy times and love shown by friends and family round out their story with all it's angst. You even cry a time or two but it's a HEA for the guys. I received a copy of this book through Gay Romance Reviews and this is my honest opinion.
I have really enjoyed this series! Sammy and Bentley were so cute together. I did find the first third of the book to be a little slow but once they were really together I loved it. They have to deal with a few issues but get through them by supporting each other. They also received support from their families and friends. The story is pretty low angst and has a very happy ending. I recommend this book and the series.
I love Bentley and Sammy, so cute together and you can feel the love by how they support each other. I didn’t read the previous books which now I will have too because I loved the other characters and very intrigue to find out their stories. The only thing I found missing was when Bentley told his parents, it would have been interesting to see the dialogue with his parents. Also the parole, we only got the end result from years later, it would have been nice to hear more about what happened, you can find it a short stories for both situations found somewhere else, but would have been nice in the book. Besides that I really enjoyed this book. Highly recommended.
This book pretty much had everything, friend to lover, family issues, bigotry. Becca as made this book the perfect end to the Fast Break series. Bentley and Sammy were fantastic characters with great depth, and you can feel their struggles on the pages. Love the support they have around them from family and friends. Both incidents in the book are handled with compassion but don't hid anything. Fantastic story and series.
What a beautiful best friend to lovers romance. Sammy & Bentley have been each other's rocks from the moment they met, and as they grow older, they see each other as something so much more. Sammy has a past that makes it hard for him to even consider being his true self, but with the love and support of Bentley and his teammates, he is able to do just that. Both men show their strengths when the other needs it the most, just showing more how truly perfect they are for the other. Bentley never pushes he just lets Sammy take his pace as needed to feel safe and comfortable. Truly an endearing relationship that I hope everyone has in their lifetime. This is one of those series that just improves with each installment.
This was the perfect ending to a series. It including everyone in the household and had so much MEAT to it! So much happened in 400 pages with multiple plot lines and situations. Sammy and Bentley's character development from book 1 to present was fire. And loved this was crossed over with books 2&3 a bit. The beginning was a bit weird as it did jump a bit all over and I was getting aggrieved with Sammy and why he was doing what he was doing in the first 6 chapters, but it all made sense and pieced together plot/character points. The fear of danger was a good touch and one that is still very real even in 2024 on the court and in life.
3 scenes were missing and definitely needed. She wrote 2 of them and are on Ream but you have to subscribe. That is my only complaint for this book.
What a wonderful way to end the Fast Break series. Sammy and Bentley have been best friends since their first year at college after meeting at basketball practice. Both of them just clicked and so begun a very strong friendship that after a few years, as the edges blur, morphs into something more. It takes some time for them to fully acknowledge that they are no longer friends having some fun and are actually in a relationship. Sammy has valid reasons for wanting to keep their change in status to themselves and the ever patient Bentley fully agrees.
Their relationship is filled with plenty of witty sassy banter that had me giggling as well as plenty of steam balanced with plenty of sweet. The circumstances of Sammy and his teenage trauma with it’s ongoing ramifications made my heart hurt but it was quickly filled with happiness when there was a totally unexpected surprise twist along the way to their HEA.
I loved every moment of this engaging and enjoyable book which made me fall in love with Sammy and Bentley. I was invested in their story from start to finish and very reluctantly put the book down when life interfered.
This book is a delightful romantic comedy. This book is perfect for readers who enjoy light-hearted stories filled with humor, charming characters, and heartfelt moments
The plot of "Easy, Schmeasy!" is engaging from start to finish. Becca Seymour masterfully combines humor and romance, creating a storyline that feels both fresh and related
The MCs are well-developed and instantly likable. Their chemistry is palpable, and their interactions are filled with witty banter and genuine emotion. Seymour does an excellent job of fleshing out her characters, giving them depth and personality that make them feel real and relatable.
What do we get: - Sport romance - Idiots to lovers - Fast read - Low angst - Tons of Lmao moments - Spice - Interconnected couples universe - HEA
This series has been so fun! I have loved each of the couples and was eagerly awaiting Sammy and Bently’s story. It did not disappoint. They are just the sweetest together. They are best friends who know each other so well that frequently they don’t even need words to communicate. Because of a past trauma that seems to promise possible future harm as well, Sammy is loathe to act on his feelings for Bently or to let anyone know he is gay, even his out friends. He just doesn’t feel safe from his past. But after a drunken hookup with Bently, he can’t go back to ignoring his feelings, yet for a long time, he can’t admit to them either. And throughout this time, Bently understands and doesn’t ever push Sammy for more. And when Bently can no longer continue their unacknowledged hookups, Sammy understands without Bently having been explicit that things have yo change, one way or another. I love that even though they can understand each other, once they decide to have a real relationship, they speak openly and honestly about everything—they have no secrets between them.
This story had a turn of events that surprised the heck out of me. I did not see it coming. I found myself speeding ahead to find out what they would do, especially considering Sammy’s fears about coming out and being in a same-sex relationship and how that affected the early part of their romantic relationship. I just love that they never for a moment doubt each other’s feelings or their own. Their commitment to each other is absolute. I love how the relationship he was afraid of allowing himself to have because of his past ends up being the thing that gives him the most strength and confidence to face. That and finally getting therapy—thanks to his mother’s encouragement.
I loved seeing all of the other guys from the previous books. They really have a lovely friendship that truly feels like something they will keep and value their whole lives. And “yay!” for an epilogue that is so far in the future 😀 That is one of the best things an author can do, imo.
This book was a touching, sweet end to a wonderful series. Becca Seymour does a great job developing loveable characters and we get to see a bit of all the series MCs in this final book. Though, I do hope Becca gives us a bonus novella or something to show us where they all end up and that they are still close years later.
This story is about Bentley and Sammy, best friends and teammates for the last few years. Sammy has been through some truly traumatic things at the hands of his bio dad. While the book never goes into great detail, it still might be triggering for some readers who have experienced physical assault or abuse, so tread carefully if that is an issue for you. I felt that Becca wrote it with as much compassion and gentleness as possible.
Bentley is an all-around amazing guy. He was great and so patient and understanding with Sammy. The way these two men understood and loved each other was truly epic. I felt their love for each other intensely.
My only complaint was that I felt like the book could have been longer. Some scenes were glossed over that I would have liked to read fully, for example, when they meet with the attorney in TN about Trevin's parole. I would have also liked to see the scene where they come clean about everything to Bentley's parents.
That small issue aside, I really enjoyed this book. I haven't read every book in this series yet, and I will definitely be going back to read the others. I loved all the characters and am sad to say goodbye!
Easy, Schmeasy has one of my new favorite tropes: Idiots to Lover. Sammy and Bentley have been best friends since freshman year, and slowly the lines between friendship and something more blur before they can even give it a name. I always enjoy Becca’s books. There’s banter, steam, and a rollercoaster of emotions. Sammy is the kind of character it usually takes me a while to warm to. He’s self-confident/cocky and doesn’t miss a chance to let you now how awesome he is. But, in his own words, he’s also a “lying liar who lies”. And once you find out what he’s been hiding… Oh, Sammy, you sweet broken boy. Bentley, I loved him, his steadfastness and loyalty. And the way he supported Sammy was everything. The MCs are in college so there’s plenty of humor and silly shenanigans. But there are also moments of lovely caring and communication. You see their growth as a couple and it is everything you’d hope for. Plus their families and teammates give them such a strong support system that you know they’ll be ok when they are outed before they are ready. Sammy has a lot of unresolved emotional baggage from a horrible incident when he was a teenager. It was so cathartic to see him get some closure with Bentley by his side. Sammy confronting the truth of his past is handled with such compassion and sensitivity. I loved where Sammy and Bentley ended up - their HEA was wonderful. A sweet and satisfying end to the Fast Break series.
🏀 In the fourth installment of the Fast Break series, we see Sammy and Bentley get their story finally! They'll get their HEA, but it's a struggle to get there.
🏀 Bentley has been in love with his best friend Sammy since day 1. Sammy has been in love with Bentley since day 1, but hasn't told anyone he's gay because of a traumatic (incredibly traumatic) experience in his past. Bentley knows a little bit about it, but Sammy has never told anyone the full story. When they finally give in to their feelings, will they stand in their own way?
🏀 It's been a long time coming, but ooof this was worth it. What a great installment into the Fast Break universe. I just wanted to hug Sammy the whole time, he has been hurt so bad. Luckily he had Bentley to do the hugging 😉 Their relationship is built on years of friendship and trust, and it shows. I'm glad they had each other to go through the hard times with.
Pick up if you love: 🏀 Idiots in Love 💎 Secret relationships 🏀 Basketball 💎 "Marry me?" "What, now?!" 🏀 Hurt/Comfort 💎 Dumbasses who think they're being subtle 🏀 Found family
🎉 Thank you to @authorbeccaseymour And @neonrainbowarcreviews For the chance to read and review early!
I have enjoyed the Fast Break series and am sad to say goodbye to the boys from the Brixham Bears college basketball team.
Running alongside the same time period as Facts, Smacts! and Regular, Smegular! I really enjoyed catching up with all the guys from the house and their partners.
From reading the other books in the series I always knew (well, hoped) that Sammy and Bentley would get together and I enjoyed seeing their friendship smoothly roll into romance even with Sammy's initial reservations about dragging Bentley into his drama.
These two are perfect for each other and it wasn't much of a leap for either to take their friendship further, they just needed to trust in themselves and the strength of their friendship.
Sammy has had a traumatic past with his biological father doing some awful things which he is now in jail for. These events haunt Sammy and the time is coming where he will have to confront his past and deal with it if he wants to be able to move on and live a happy life. Bentley couldn't be more supportive and his friends are all there for him too. This group are such solid friends there was really no doubt they wouldn't be.
With plenty of spicy scenes, and some humour along with the more serious parts, the final book in the series was a great one to end everything on.
EASY, SCHMEASY is a friends to lovers, sexual awakening, college, coming out read. It is the fourth book in the Fast Break series. It can be read as a standalone without issue (as I haven't read any other books within this series.
Bentley and Sammy are the best of friends. They have a very co dependent relationship. Nothing is off limits to them. After a night of drinking things happen that never of them expect but neither of them are surprised. While Bentley is all in. Sammy knows he's gay but getting caught when he was fifteen and his dad almost beating him to death and going to jail leaves scars on someone. Sammy's secrets run deep and feel the only way he can be who he really is and be with Bentley is when he's drunk or at least while he's pretending he's drunk. The relationship between them is meant to be and builds very organically.
Sammy has a lot he needs to work on and damage to get through before he can fully commit to Bentley and be the man he needs to be. Their chemistry is easy and explosive between them.
While I haven't read the rest of the series and after meeting these characters I am definitely going back to the beginning to see all these characters fall in love.
Sammy and Bentley were PERFECT together!!! Although the move from best friends, with all the precious pining, to “more”, took a while for Sammy to gather the courage to be all in, it was actually almost effortless—they were both so secretly in love with each other that it was almost a natural progression to them being a “them” together.
Truthfully, it wasn’t so much a lack of courage; Sammy had trauma from his teenage years to overcome but Bentley was right there for him, no questions asked, no matter how he himself felt, he was just happy to be a part of Sammy’s life at all and that’s the part that just made my heart swell in my chest, I wanted to hug them both so dang hard.
Although the book is almost completely angst free, that doesn’t mean that there were no problems at all, I particularly enjoyed how it ended, it was SO. Satisfying!!! For readers who enjoy best friends to lovers, this book is a must read. And for those who like seeing the bad guy getting what’s coming to them, it’s downright imperative! 4.5 completely satisfied stars!!
I received a copy of this book for free but this is a voluntary review.
MM basketball romances have been missing from my annual reading until I came across Easy, Schmeasy. This was a really enjoyable best friends to lovers, fast-burn romance.
3.5/5
This book also had great subtle representation with an MMC POC. The spice was also frequent and spicy! Especially since the couple have an affinity for throat f*cking. I particularly enjoyed the characters internal struggles with self-acceptance and love after trauma. Make sure to check your triggers if you have them.
The beginning of the book felt quite rushed and the fast burn was lightening paced but left lots of time for the action-packed plot. I was disappointed that the bi-awakening was glossed over as usually this is one of my favourite tropes. For a relatively small book, a lot happened and was pretty well fleshed-out.
Sammy and Bentley had to overcome a lot of trauma in this book and found the most beautiful queer found family.
- College - Best friends to lovers - Queer found family - Brojobs
I read this in one sitting, it was a quick and spicy romance that I would recommend.
This book was provided to me as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
It was clear that Bentley and Sammy loved one another and that that love went a lot deeper than being close best friends. Their attraction grew over time and because their friendship was so comfortable that they drifted into more without effort. Despite that Sammy had some unfinished business with his past and Bentley needed to reassess his idea of his attraction to be able to move forward in the relationship they were building over time as housemates, teammates and friends. This was the final book in this series and it was by turns sweet, difficult because of the difficult secret from his past that Sammy was grappling with. It was also wonderful as their community came through for them as the truth unfolded, spicy as this pair came together physically and deepened their relationship and positive as they got their happy ending by being willing to do the work, accept help and lean into the love of one another and the support of their found and actual families. I will miss the characters from the basketball series. All of the stories kept me interested and wanting more time with these guys. I received an ARC from GRR and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Overall, this is a story that I enjoyed very much. It is well written, easy to read and entertaining. My only criticism is regarding the pacing; some parts were just a little slow, and then there were parts that were so fast that I feel important story elements were omitted (I won't say what, as those would be spoilers). I love Sammy and Bentley, the MCs, who start off as best friends. They are loyal to each other and support one another through thick and thin, making each other brave enough to do what they need to do. The side characters are just wonderful, both family and found family, and are there for the MCs when they really need the support. The relationship between Sammy and Bentley may be easy (although why did it take them so long to talk about it??), but some of the outside factors are not, which creates the angst in the book. This is the last book in the series, but it can successfully be read as a standalone; if you do that, you will end up wanting to read the series from the beginning, just a warning! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Oh wow!! What a fantastic end to an amazing series! We are treated to best friends to lovers, a secret relationship, coming out, family drama but also a trigger warning for past physical assault, homophobia, and a sports injury that requires hospitalisation. Bentley and Sammy have stolen my heart with their emotional and long awaited romance. Sammy is definitely in need of that comfort and support when it comes to some tough moments he has to deal with when it comes to a painful part of his past and a family member he would rather didn't exist. Bentley is perfect in his role as understanding best friend but also with how their relationship changes, he can then offer physical and emotional support, something Sammy is definitely not turning down. It's clear that these two were made to be together and it becomes such a heartwarming read with a great team beside them and wonderfully supportive parents on both sides. A huge thank you to Becca for such an entertaining series! I can't wait to see what's coming up next. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
This was a good story to end the series on. Though you can definitely read this on it's own, the previous couples do make up a fair amount of the side characters are they're all teammates and involved in each other's lives. It's fun to have their background going into this one. While I loved seeing a new side of Sammy, I will be honest and say that I kind of expected more drama from either him or Bentley. Sammy's bio dad is not a good person and he's been afraid of him for ever. Bentley takes the next step in their super close friendship without any question, which I like, but also I think we lost something when we never see him interact with his parents. While the dialogue between these two is great, and they are great communicators, I felt that the middle dragged a bit. I kept waiting for some tension to test the bounds of their new dynamics and it really didn't until the last few chapters and even that was a bit out of left field. I think the last three or four chapters were some of the best and I loved it when these guys were finally able to live the way they wanted.
I loved Sammy and Bentley’s story, and catching up with the rest of their team, and friends. I’m going to miss this series. I loved the undercurrent of Sammy’s fear of his past catching up with both of them, and the twist in what actually happens to bring everything out into the open.
I liked how Sammy’s fears drive a lot of the story, and how it’s something he can’t easily get past. His and Bentley’s love for each other shines through, as does their frustration of hiding their relationship, and pretending to be best friends after becoming much more than that.
I love both their families, Sammy’s bio dad definitely excluded of course, and how supportive they, and their housemates are. The banter, and their scenes together are a highlight of the story. Their mothers rock!
I didn’t see the events of the final game and aftermath coming! Fabulous plot twist, with consequences. Love it, and the phone call Bentley intercepts.
The epilogue and glimpse into their future is a sweet coda to their much deserved HEA.
Bentley and Sammy are best friends, attached at the hip, and wanting more. Their housemates are all queer and paired up, but Bentley thought he was straight.
Sammy is scared to death because when he was 15, his father brutally beat up a guy he was hooking up with when he caught them, and Sammy didn’t come out then, but knew he was gay.
Trevin, his Dad, went to jail, but is coming up for parole, so when he and Bentley start hooking up, it’s all in secret. Eventually they admit their feelings and get married on a spur of the moment. They tell Sammy’s family, then their housemates and Bentley’s parents.
Then Bentley gets injured at a game, and all Sammy’s attention goes to him, so that he inadvertently outs them as husbands. They deal with that and are glad to have things in the open, but Trevin sends some threats to come after Sammy.
There’s a chance to set the record straight about what happened when Trevin hurt him and his friend, so that brings Sammy peace.
Great story with lots of past demons for Sammy and plenty of love for Bentley when he’s struggling with his concussion too.
I received this ARC for free and am providing my honest review with appreciation.

Love these two best friends. They are something special, with such a strong and sweet connection. In some ways, it's like they’ve always been dating, but going from BFF’s to lovers to boyfriends is a slow affair, for reasons that are integral to Sammy’s story.
They each have their strengths that lend to the other and make their relationship stronger. And when they finally realize what they are to each other truly. Beautiful! They are young and hopeful, but still old enough to have seen some things and have some life maturity. I love that combination.
Mix it with Becca’s combination of banter, sweetness and steaminess, and you have an incredible finale to the Fast Break series.
