Note : 5 étoiles ⭐

Omg !

I have yet to read an action/fantasy manhua that I don’t like. Jungle Juice isn’t my all time favorite, but I love the premise and characters. I love getting to know the characters. This is only the second volume but I’m hooked.

Hi-flying action. Love how in depth & well-thought out the power systems are. Hard to keep track of action tho sometimes.

An assignment to hunt for Jungle Juice ends with students being hunted, as a second mysterious organization of human-bug hybrids steps into the narrative as the main antagonists.

But we get tragic backstories for both Huijin (we find out what her complex is) and Dohwa (scorpion girl) and also for new character Junhyeong (Goliath Birdeater Tarantula... which just sounds epic) And all this conflict means that Suchan's dragonfly complex starts...evolving.

I still love the concept but I don’t know if the back to back to back action is my thing. I would love for the pacing to be taken down a notch so the story has room to breathe.

I don't know how the author came up with the storyline but, damn is it good!. Suchan is by far the ✨best✨

Oh, this volume passes where I left off in the web comic! It... also goes in a different direction from what I thought I read last. Hmm.

That said, the "twist" makes sense; . Then again, it's not like Suchan took on a completely dragonfly palette when he gained his mutation.

Anyway, likes:
+ The artwork (gorgeous... even IF bug-themed!)
+ Yerim :D and her !

Dislikes:
- The group test: Yes, the reason for giving them the made sense after the fact, but in the meantime, [shit happened].
- The (BARF).
- The abuse flashbacks... yes, I know they're important to her character [both instances where this statement is true], but that doesn't mean I have to LIKE them.
- Junhyeong. Don't care if he .

Neutral:
⋅ The "shounen"-style action. Like, I get into it on the first read, because action is exciting! Upon a second read, though, I feel like I roll my eyes a bit, since it gets into the same "tried and true" formula that becomes ridiculous as it goes on. It's more tolerable animated, mostly because at that point it's like watching twinkling lights—you watch just for the experience of it, not because it's intellectually stimulating or anything.
. Some of this is from a spoiler comment I accidentally read on a different web comic because they're linked, and that's why I'm even reading Jungle Juice in the first place. Point being is it feels "sus" and I'm not really looking forward to that thread panning out.

Recommended for readers like me who get a little motion-sick reading "scrolling" comics.

Suchan and his fellow students are assigned a new group project to find more cans of Jungle Juice, which are now incredibly rare. It turns out that Jungle Juice is an essential component in making Cinderella. Suchan is grouped up with Huijin, and their search leads them to the hidden warehouse of the manufacturer. But this hidden stash is too good to be true, and a carnivorous scorpion is waiting for them, hoping to devour them and absorb their power. After learning the origin of Huijin’s insect powers, the quest leads Suchan to an orphanage where a powerful adversary is targeting Dohwa and other children. There, they learn how Dohwa, the scorpion, their new bad guy, and Jungle Juice, all have connections that go back to childhood.

Eun is spinning some intricate plots and webs that are getting really interesting, and it’s only volume two! There is also a slow build up of characters surrounding Suchan that I appreciate because we can get attached to each one of them in turn as the story progresses and be introduced to and learn about their unique powers. Volume one gave us a great opportunity to learn about Suchan and his backstory, and volume two wove in three more characters but gave bits about their powers and backstory while driving the overall narrative forward.

The coloring and artistry of this series stands out and adds a lot of dramatic moments with action sequencing but also beautiful complementary color palettes. Even though this series is about insects and meta-humans, it is visually beautiful and striking.

There is some cussing and violence with blood on the page, so this series is better for older audiences.
