And the lightweight world champion is…Yu! With one weight division conquered, K sets his protégé’s sights on the next target: junior welterweight. This inevitably pits Yu against Yuto Takeda, a tenacious boxer who earned his belt through nothing but hard work―the antithesis to Yu’s natural talent. Will Yuto prove to be the first force powerful enough to derail Yu’s unstoppable path of destruction…?
My favorite webtoon I've ever read, even one of my favorite fictional stories ever. I cannot praise this enough. It's so beautiful. 90% I don't like "drama" genre webtoons/books/manga but everyone was reading about how good it was so I tried it and I'm so glad I did.
[4.5/5] Really good volume. I like that we spend some time with the different opponents backstory, training and motivations but I hope we get more about Yu soon.
"The Boxer 5" by JH is a captivating addition to an already favorite series of mine.
The transition between the original main character and the secondary protagonists showcases brilliance, providing the latter with distinct plots that make them the focal points. As the actual main character assumes the role of the Final Boss in their lives, this allows readers to explore the world through diverse and engaging perspectives. JH's masterful storytelling reminds us that there are no mere side characters in life; each person is a living testament to the beauty of their experiences, recognizing the extraordinary tales that shape human life.
The Boxer skillfully balances action, emotion, and suspense, ensuring that the story remains gripping from start to finish. The well-rounded characters with depth and complexity add a layer of realism—JH's ability to surprise and challenge readers' expectations by subverting traditional character arcs and flipping the roles within the story, "The Boxer 5" keeps readers guessing and invested in the characters' fates.
In conclusion, "The Boxer 5" by JH is a triumph in character-driven storytelling. With its inventive approach to character development and a plot that keeps readers hooked. JH's ability to breathe new life into the narrative while maintaining the essence of the original characters is a testament to the author's skill and creativity.
yuto. these five stars are completely, whole heartedly for yuto takeda.
this is hands down becoming a favourite series. this has such an interesting concept. everytime, the author builds up a protagonist only to sidestep it, and bring another one. it's heartbreaking, malicious, and i cannot stop reading.
it's one of those books which is realistic enough to portray that everything is not black and white. there is not a single inherently bad character which makes rooting for someone all the more difficult.
it sure does make you exercise your empathy muscle. i feel emotionally all riled up ready to lock into life, exhausted by its meaningless, hopeful about it's beauty and sad about it's meaning - all at the same time lol.
Heartbreaking. Loved Yuto’s backstory, but the start of his fight with Yu just crushed me, man. Kinda irritated me that the whole volume was spent developing Yuto as a character, just to quickly have his hopes of winning be crushed by Yu’s innate talent. I suppose the point is to make Yu and K seem more and more like the villains rather than protagonists, which it did - but it didn’t make watching Yuto the sweetheart being shown up by Yu any easier to read.
I truly believe Injae will work his way up and beat Yu to prove Yuto right, though! Copium for sure, but idc.
This series is beyond inspiring for anyone wanting to accomplish something in life. This series is more than about just boxing. It gives the reader hope in many more aspects of their life. The writing is phenomenal and with every page, I feel like I’m watching a movie. One of the best series I have ever read in my life. 12/10
Absolutely phenomenal, this series is really insane. Yuto is potentially my favorite character so far and I really appreciated getting his story in depth, as well as coach Misaki’s. This arc was a crazy cinematic experience. There were certainly tears… Yu really starts to look like a monster here as well, and coach K shows his colors more than ever
There’s something so ridiculously enchanting about this book. The violence is handled beautifully, and the craftsmanship of the storytelling & background tales is masterful.
The details, the characterization, and the art are all just about perfect. Love this manhwa!!!
