When You Make Your Assignment Your Obsession, Wrong Relationships Will Die. Right relationships will be born. The best way to disconnect from wrong people is to become obsessed with doing the right thing...Fight For Your Focus.
Battle hard. Build walls that guarantee your concentration. Ignore the jeers, laughter and criticism that you are "obsessed."
Only The Obsessed Succeed.
Remember: You Will Only Succeed When Your Assignment Becomes An Obsession."
(Mike Murdock, 7 Signposts to Your Assignment)

This book covers 7 Signposts to your Assignment. They are:

"1. Your Assignment is any problem you were created to solve on earth.

2. What you love is a clue to the gifts and wisdom you contain to complete your Assignment.

3. What you hate is a clue to something you are assigned to correct.

4. What grieves you is a clue to something you are assigned to heal.

5. If you rebel against your Assignment, God may permit painful experiences to correct you.

6. Your Assignment will require seasons of preparation.

7. You will only succeed when your Assignment becomes an obsession."

A lot of this book had principles from the Author's 4 part series on the topic of The Assignment: The Assignment: The Dream & The Destiny Volume 1, The Assignment Vol. 2: The Anointing & the Adversity, The Assignment Vol.3: The Trials & the Triumphs, and The Assignment Vol 4: The Pain & the Passion.

The Author doesn't tell you why he choose these 7 Signposts; however, out of all the signposts he could have focused on, my guess is that he thought these were the most important.

The chapter that spoke the most to me was Chapter 7:You Will Only Succeed When Your Assignment Becomes An Obsession. He says, "Focus Is Magnetic. When you focus your attention and time to achieving your Assignment, you will experience Favor." He gives examples of Jesus rebuking people in the Bible for breaking His focus, as well as Paul the Apostle when he said, "...one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (See Philippians 3:13-14). I agree. I have seen this happen many times in my own life: People, distractions, conflict, or opportunities not from God coming to break my focus. We would do well to ask the question?: Is this going to take me closer or away from my Assignment? If not, then perhaps, we should not do it.

I'll leave you with his 6 Keys For Developing An Obsession For Your Assignment:

"1. Identify Any Distraction To Your Assignment.

2. Be Ruthless In Refusing Any Responsibilities Unrelated To Your Assignment.

3. Become An Expert On Your Assignment.

4. Avoid Any Conversation With Those Who Disrespect Your Assignment.

5. Prepare For Uncommon Adversity.

6. Disconnect From Any Relationship That Does Not Celebrate Your Obsession.

Interesting concept about what my gifts are and what my purpose is - I like the way he identifies that what makes you angry is what you were sent to 'fix' for the Lord. However, he reads like a stereotypical 'strict southern republican' who bashes people over the head who don't agree with his version of God and religion. A bit too angry and passionate for my taste.
