This important book offers us a process for unlearning our ego-based search for perfection and uncovering the inner beauty, guidance, and grace that already exists in our lives. It enables us to honor others and establsih healthy boundaries that prevent manipulation and co-dependency. Most importantly, it helps us to practice forgiveness moment to moment so that we can discover the place of peace within.
Reading "The 12 Steps of Forgiveness..."was a peaceful experience, replete with reminders of the personal habits which can, and do, pull me away from achieving that peace daily. There was nothing particularly new in the book, but I found myself eager for the last 15 minutes of each day and the reward that this book was during those 15 minutes. A couple of memorable thoughts from the book comes following a short discussion on charity; "There is nothing mysterious about what opens the heart. Acceptance does. There is nothing mysterious about what closes the heart. Judgment does."
This book changed the way I look at situations that would ultimately hinder my life otherwise. Forgiving is a very important factor to life if you want to live a more peaceful life. After reading this book, I have been able to make more positive decisions on difficult situations that would occur in my life. I've been able to forgive those who need to be forgiven and to those who have personal issues that reflect through their actions. I've learned to be more patient with others and not to expect anything from others. I've learned that everyone is human and we all make mistakes but learning to forgive someone and move on gives you peace within and peace is something we all strive for. Great book!
Very good book. Been applying it to my life and it works. Easy to read took me a week. Lost my son and have been suffering a lot of negative thoughts and feeling overwhelmed but now I’m okay with feeling and think deeply as to where it comes from. I allow myself to grieve.
Extraordinary! Accessible, yet profound. Always timely, always relevant. I've read and reread several times and given copies away to friends of all ilks at different places along life's spiritual path. I believe it can help ANYONE whom it touches! I wholeheartedly recommend it!
Ferrini shows us that most of the forgiving comes from within. To forgive yourself is to help take the pressure and expectations off of others. The pain is perception.
