This is not a totally new series, but rather a continuation of our fantastic story. However, making this the start of a newly titled series was a good decision, since this volume feels like an introductory volume. In fact, it is more like one of the side story volumes, especially since it does not involve Kamijou Touma.
Accelerator and Hamazura Shiage are becoming situated with their new and peaceful lives after the war, only to find that not much has changed. Accelerator still has to deal with his "brat," as well as Misaka WORST of the Third Season. Hamazura is now a proper member of the newly formed ITEM, but they still treat him like adoringly as their slave. All is well. That is, until the darkness of Academy City resurfaces under a new name.
The first half of the volume features the familiar comedic atmosphere, and enters a high-tension conflict of almost unreal Academy City technology in the second half. In other words, it is much like Volume 12 (Academy City Invasion Part 1) of the first series. I found this volume harder to invest myself in because of the technical details; I had a difficult time picturing all of the complex technology. Perhaps those better-versed in science will find this volume more interesting. However, I did enjoy the subtle character struggles and am still pumped for what's to come.
