I am a true romantic at heart and with a modern contemporary erotic twist to my romance novels, you had better fasten your seat belt, as the ride is always fun, exciting and fiery.
Living in Las Vegas, but a mid-westerner at heart, I find plenty of inspiration for my books in my own exciting life. I have always loved the arts and as a young girl, I took dance classes and spent the summers reading books from the local library. Fascinated with the written word and its power to guide the imagination, I started writing short stories and later took Creative Writing classes in college. I graduated from The University of Iowa with a B.A. in Journalism and an M.A. in Higher Education. I also have a Teaching Credential from Chapman University in Southern California.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the novel. You can email me directly at evecarterbooks@gmail.com and if you enjoyed the book, please share your excitement with other fans of women’s erotic romance. You can write a review by clicking here: Deceived Part 1 – New York

Enjoyable plot, definitely needs book two to continue the story, but at least it finished off a lot of the story raised in this book. It was pretty obvious in some points over what would happen next, other than the ending which reminded me a little of Agatha Christie, the kick in the teeth was something that hadn't previously been revealed in the book.

Dani makes a rash decision, knows it's wrong but does it for the right reasons, and puts her life in jeopardy. John isn't all he seems. It's an interesting introduction to the characters, there are some light hearted parts to the story, but I suspect we're in for a lot more darkness in the next book.

I think that John is a dangerous character, he may look like a god but he seems to have this deep anger and can't control his emotions, it feels like it won't take much for him to crack and end up killing someone.

Dani has her heart in the right place, she's a good girl deep down, and I suspect she's going to get hurt badly.

Good book, didn't leave me frustrated, but did leave me wanting to read the next instalment in the trilogy.

Ugh so predictable

I hesitate to write negative reviews, but in this case it couldn't be helped. The story was completely predictable, it was obvious who "John" was. No mystery there! Lots of grammatical errors drive me crazy, and this book has a TON. In one sentence the author spelled the name Michelle and the sentence before was Michele, as an example. Two sentences in a row! Besides that, the story is short and just leads you to a link to purchase the next book. It didn't even have a real ending, it stopped in the middle of a paragraph and overall just at a strange spot. I'm not against a series, but this was ridiculous. Needless to say, I won't be buying the next one. Disappointed!

This is the first book that I have read from Eve Carter and I can tell you it will not be my last. Pure temptation had me hooked from the beginning with Dani and Luke. It keeps you guessing and wondering what is going to happen next. The chemistry between Luke and Dani is FREAKING HOT!!! I so didn’t see the ending of this book coming, and now I cannot wait for the next book to come out… So worth reading!!

When Dani finds a briefcase full of money she's knows she shouldn't take it but it would help her and her grandmother. But she doesn't realize the money is connected to an underground street fighting cartel. Dani must run away and meets John, she didn't think she would feel anything for him but what is finally reveal will have Dani running away. Great story and the ending, I can't wait to see what happens in the next book

What? This book felt so confusing as in it didn't actually flow or work together. It was predictable and cheesy and the mcs language was very immature so I couldn't imagine this was adults. There were some nice moments and quotes but overall it was a miss for me

Wait. What?

* I received an arc of this book in exchange for my honest review*

2 1/2 stars and that’s being generous.

This book was just meh for me. The writing was odd. Not bad, just odd. The story felt disjointed the whole time. I could only dive surface deep. I like to immerse myself into the story, fall in love or at least like with the characters. I didn’t feel anything for any of the characters. Sorry, but I will not be continuing this series.

This was my second attempt at an Eve Carter book (DNF the other one) and will be my last. The writing feels very immature in that the scenarios and the way the characters are written don't create a believable story.

The heroine, Dani, is a walking contradiction. She claims she wants to stay out of trouble, focus on school, and not follow in the footsteps of her mother. Yet she does exactly that just a couple chapters later. I can excuse the stupid idea of her stealing money and skipping town, but then she meets "John", who anyone with a brain could figure out his real identity in 2.5 seconds. The two of them hit it off and sleep together and less than (two days?) later they're falling for each other. By the way, the sex scenes are awful. No substance and cheesy.

So then Dani finds out who John really is and goes ape-shit even though she did the exact same amount of lying about her own identity. And the explanation of how he found/followed her is creepy as all get out and she just doesn't think anything of it?!

You also get a subplot with an abusive husband that is cringe-worthy and maybe even unnecessary, which leads into a cliffhanger that you just KNOW is going to be dumb as hell because these characters and the situation they are in is already dumb as hell. HARD PASS.

What was I thinking? Should've been the question I asked myself when I got this book. I tried to finish the whole thing and give it a chance despite all the terrible reviews that it got, but unfortunately it couldn't keep my attention long enough for me. This book has got to be the absolute worst book I've ever read. It was cliché and extremely predictable which I found very disappointing. It left me with nothing to be excited about, and each time I picked it up I couldn't wait to put it back down again. The characters in my opinion were bland and it was really hard to connect with any of them. The writing style itself I didn't particularly care for it, and there were just no moments at all where I was left on the edge of my seat. Overall this was a terrible book, and I'm actually glad that I didn't finish reading it.

Pure Temptation is a pretty good one sitting read. The plot itself was enjoyable. Although there was a lot going on throughout the story the plot didn't seem to far fetched even for fiction.

I think that the writing itself was great and it made the story better. Let's face it no one enjoys finishing a book with terrible writing just because the plot is decent.

With that said I can't wait to see how things develop in book two. I didn't know what to expect from this story, but the author delivered good writing and solid plot. Usually I'm on the money with plot twist but I didn't think the story would turn out this way and I'm glad it did.

Thanks Eve for another awesome book. Love the mystery and chemistry between Luke and Dani. The beginning chapters may seem slow but they were so important to the building of the story. Just keep reading and you will be quickly sucked into the mystery and suspense. I can't wait for the next book. The ending caught me off guard and desperately wanting the continuation of this story. Look forward to learning more about Luke and seeing his relationship with Dani grow stronger. By the way, when is Jesse getting another book?

Got this on sale for .99 cents at Amazon. Grab the deal now before it goes back to $3.99.

This book is worth it. I wanna know what happens next! And I wanna know Luke's back story more and the cliff hangin he just drop at the end? Just drives me crazy if he is separated/married or what.

This is a great start of the series. And finish it in one setting. Once you read you can't stop.

Recommend it! And can't wait for the next book to be out. :D

Was the kid's name Michelle or Michele? Spellings seemed interchangeable.
Predictable plot, relationship moved too fast, events felt forced and the moves made by characters had little logic to them. Won't be continuing.

Not sure what the "hype" is about. This book read like a bad made for TV movie that not even Tara Reid would star in. Oooof. Waste of time.

My first book by Eve Carter but it won't be my last. Dani works at a sleazy hotel on the night shift and when a pay by the hour customer turns up dead she finds his briefcase full of money. She is usually a very honest person but is struggling to pay for college and help her ailing grandmother who raised her. So she thinks no one will know about the money and life will be easier. She quickly finds out it is tied to an underground fighting ring and gambling. She is on the run for her life and ends up in a tourist town where she meets John. Dani has to decide can she risk getting involved with someone or should she keep running to protect them. The story is about Dani and John's secrets and if they can build a relationship that will survive them.

This was a hot read with several twists and turns to keep you guessing. I liked the writing style and felt like the character were well developed. If you are looking for a sexy read with some suspense thrown in grab Pure Temptation.
