Call to Liberty: Bridging the Divide Between Liberals and Conservatives

Rate this book
Anthony Signorelli’s Call to Liberty shows how extremists on both sides of the political divide have co-opted the words “liberal” and “conservative” for their own ends, creating a false split in the American electorate.

Bridging the divide means seeing the common values we share as Americans: our rights, our love of liberty and our commitment to great principles.

Signorelli, cofounder of the Center for Thoughtful Democracy, offers practical strategies for liberals and conservatives who want to come together and reclaim basic American principles. Call to Liberty shows how to maximize freedom with bold proposals that utilize both traditional and web-driven media and organizing methods.

Specific proposals include a Free and Fair Elections Amendment to the Constitution, a focused fight on al Qaeda and renewed civic self-education. Written by a concerned citizen, small businessman and family man, Call to Liberty asks hard questions about the direction of our democracy.

Very interesting look into the way that "liberalism" and "conservatism" have changed over time. Makes me wonder what our founding fathers would think!
