Time of death at 54%

The narration was not good at all. I switched to reading it did not get any better.

The writing was weird, i believe maybe because this was published a while back, still there are some books that came out in the 80s and are magnificent.

I just couldn't feel the MCs, and when one of the MCs freaked out because the other guy opened a door for him and that is considered guy stuff, so that means he must be the girl.. I was out, done and done!

But when he opened the car door for me I almost bolted. The only thing I could think was that if he’s doing the guy stuff, that means he expects me to do the girl stuff…

I thought this was going to be a cute little story, i thought wrong. Onto the next.

NOTE
My review of the whole series of audiobooks is up on the blog. Here's the link if you want to check it out: http://www.kimmerseroticbookbanter.co...

If you're an audiobook fan, I highly recommend doing the series this way - it was an incredible experience going through one of my all-time favorite series this way.

My Original Review of Book 1

This is my favorite of the series. I really think Shane and Alex work beautifully together, I love the way they meet and their relationship grows so perfectly - it's very well done. The story behind the baby is creative and unique, and the sex is Aria Grace hot as always! Bravo.

Also, I did the audio edition and this narrator (Jason P. Hilton) was new to me but I really liked him. He has a nice, deep voice and did a great job distinguishing the characters. I'll definitely look for more by him.

A sweet story with great characters. I'm not a fan of present tense, and there were a few awkward sentences in the beginning, but then the story took off and I didn't even notice the tense anymore. I enjoyed watching the MCs get to know each other, especially in the more humorous scenes. The end felt a little rushed, but overall I really liked this story.

Loved this! Sexy and sweet with the right amount of angst. Plus, a cowboy, dog and a baby--how can you beat that?

When It’s Right is the first book in the ‘Mile High Romance’ series. The three books in this series was gifted to me by the author for honest reviews. This first story was written for the M/M Romance Group’s ‘Love Has No Boundaries’ DRitC event. The MCs are Shane Greenly who left Wyoming because of his family’s homophobia. He’s moved to Colorado with the dream of starting his own dog training ranch. Alex is the other MC and the two men meet because of Alex’s dog Stormy. The story is told in first person through both MCs povs.

3.5 Stars

Additional note 2/4/18: This book should not be considered a HEA, rather a HFN. I have no intention of reading Book 10 because I believe it is a terrible thing to do to the established couple whether for emotional impact or to introduce a new couple. Therefore for me, this series will end at Book 9. If you don't like being devastated by MCs torn apart, I'd suggest either skipping the last book in the series, or skipping this book so that what happens to the MCs doesn't hurt. But I would not consider this book a HEA because of what happens in Book 10.

While it started out cute, sweet and pretty strong it was quickly dragged down by subpar narration and a completely unnecessary miscommunication plot that ruined any good feelings I had for the story.

There were so many ways that and that whole situation could have been introduced and entwined organically into the story.

Instead it felt clunky and forced.

As for the narration, Jason P. Hilton does have nice inflection and adequate character voices, but, unfortunately, those are his only two positives.

Hilton has a slight nasal quality to his voice through much of the story like he had allergies or a cold while having to record.

Hilton pauses too often, with every comma or period and speaks in a slow tone that made me want to speed up the audio.

Finally, there were a couple of sound issues and I could hear Hilton audibly swallowing several times.

Despite these complaints it's still not the worst audio I've heard, and like I said Hilton does a good job with inflection and character voices, so it wasn't a terrible listen...but I cannot really recommend it either.

This is more proceed with caution.

This story is the product of the prompt I submitted for the "Love Has No Boundaries" writing event and I couldn't be happier with the result! Aria Grace brought my idea to life perfectly. There was just the right amount of angst mixed in to a wonderful love story. I've said it before and I'll say it again, adding a cute dog to the mix always makes things better, and Stormy, with her happy disposition and endless amounts of love, is no exception. The MCs, Shane and Alex, were great characters who were more than just pretty faces, and I appreciate that.

Thanks again, Aria, for giving all of us such a sweet story to enjoy!

What do you expect from a book with roundabout 70 pages? When reading novellas people are usually complaining that it was too short to get to know the MC's. This is often true and it can also be said about "When it's right". But the most important question is, if a book has an interesting story to tell and that has nothing to do with its length.
The story here is about Alex who meets Shane, when he brings his dog to the vet where Shane works. Shane just moved and is not out yet but he definitely is attracted to Alex and they start dating.
This was a nice read and it kept me entertained but you already get the idea that it is not really remarkable.
You know there are 2 ways to look how many pages in a book are left, you either think - only 30 pages more then I'm done, or you think - oh no only 30 pages left, please give me more.
This is one of the first kind. It's nice while it lasts but you don't miss it when it ends.
The story is okay, the writing is good, still it's a little hard to find a reason to recommend it.
So for me it was a 3 star read but if you ask again in a week I will probably have forgotten what it was about...

Shane's journey in this story is what really drew me in! His journey of self-discovery and acceptance is what I really loved about this story and Shane was definitely a stand out character to me!

I also love Stormy the dog as a character and I think the two MCs are well developed and this story had me smiling and laughing while also tugging on my heartstrings.

I am so glad that I had the opportunity to read it!

I love all of Aria Grace's story and this one surely will not disappoint! Happy reading everyone!

When It’s Right by Aria Grace isn’t a great book, I’d be reluctant to call it good. But I somehow don’t hate it. It was underdeveloped without being grating and while that isn’t really a compliment I had a decently okay time reading it.

When It’s Right follows the dual perspectives of Shane and Alex. Shane has recently moved to Denver as an assistant veterinarian from Wyoming to escape the conservative small town and their bigoted attitudes. Alex meets Shane after his dog Stormy breaks his leg and they hit it off from there.

I was surprised by how engaging I found this story. The plot was interesting once it gets started and I did find Shane to be an interesting if underwritten character. His stuggles with being recently out were the most interesting parts of the story. There was some potential for this story to be good but it did fall flat in some areas.

The sentence by sentance prose was a bit too unpolished for my liking. I found there to be plenty of telling instead of showing and clunky dialogue. I had no problems with the grammar or word usage but it did feel very basic.

The plot of the story wasn’t very well paced. What should’ve been the main plot point of the novel was introduced halfway through the story (which is why I’m being very vague about it cause it could be considered a spoiler). I would have much less of a problem with this if Grace introduced this idea much earlier on in the story and developed the conflict that arose from it more.

This book really didn’t have much conflict. While stuff did happen every problem our characters faced seemed resolved way too quickly and neatly.

While I liked Shane as a character well enough Alex was underwhelming in comparison. He had nothing really going on in his life outside of his relationship with Shane and didn’t have many defining characteristics for me to latch onto him.

The romance also felt rushed in some ways. while Grace establishes Shane and Alex’s sexual attraction she never builds an emotional chemistry between the two characters well enough for me to believe they’re as in love as they say they are. I think there should have been more time establishing these two’s personalities and why they mesh well together so I could be invested in weather or not they would end up together.

Finally I found the ending to be very jarring. There wasn’t enough rising action or conflict to feel as if the story was building to anything so when the story ended I was caught off guard. It also doesn’t help that the last quarter of the book was an excerpt to another book by Grace so I had an expectation for more plot given the page count.

This book wasn’t bad, it’s main crime was just being underdeveloped. I think there was an interesting story in this book it just needed more work to get it there. So, while I wouldn’t recommend it (if you want to give it a go it’s free on iBooks) I don’t have ay ill will towards it

once again Aria has blown me away with another great book! I am so glad that i have read all of her books..

i got this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Alex had a great job and a best friend. Well, it so happened that his best friend was a dog. One day Alex took a run with his dog when the dog ran off and got caught in a fence. He felt like he had failed as a parent. When he took his dog to the hospital he saw him. the only problem was that he was gay. Alex didn't want to scare the guy and was to embarrassed to ask it he was gay.

Shane was working at the vet hospital with his aunt. he needed a fresh start. where he lived he couldn't live the way he wanted to. He was gay. No one could know that. it would ruin the family business. He saw Alex and found him attractive. It when then when Alex needed a baby sitter for his dog that he would easily signed up for.

this book goes back between both of there views. Shane found out that Alex is gay and things started to turn around. Shane had to figure out if he wanted a relationship with Alex. Alex thinks he is falling in love with Shane and doesn't understand why he is feeling the way he does.

Shane gets some horrible news back home and had to leave. Alex starts to get worried because he hasn't heard anything form Shane in weeks. When Alex finally goes out to Shane's old house to see what was going on. What he finds out will change his life forever! Shane has a child

now adjusting to the fact that Shane has a child he has to decide what he is going to do. His father just found out he was gay and said there was no way Shane was going to raise that baby. Shane is starting to bond with the baby and now has to choose what he wants to do with his life.

The first word that comes to mind when I think about this book is “sweet”. But don’t let that fool you into thinking there’s no drama or steam, because you’ll find both in this story as well. You’re also going to find two main characters that are easy to like and care about and a storyline that is easygoing with a bit of a twist thrown in.

I really liked both Shane and Alex. They work really well together as a couple, and it’s very obvious that they belong together. There’s some interesting supporting characters, but the story mostly concentrates on Shane and Alex together until the drama starts toward the end. I was a bit disappointed in Shane when the drama first started, but that smoothed out once Alex got involved.

Even though the book is not long (my reader had it at 142 pages), the pacing was good and it didn’t feel rushed at all. It easily kept my attention, and I was able to read through it in just a few hours. This was a 4-star read for me, and the author has my interest piqued for the rest of the series.

A cute story. Really, but I was hoping for more depth. The story had great promise, but I would have liked more intensity.
Alex and Shane meet when Alex brings his dog to the vet where Shane works. They hit it off almost immediately. It feels like a sloppy insta love story, because the third date we get to read about is actually one month into their relationship and the “I love U’s” are raining down left and right. I would have loved some building of the relationship and more about Shane acclimatizing as an out and proud man. . We get a few mentions, but that is all. Not a lot of showing how they actually fall in love. Then there is Shane’s dark secret he’s sure Alex will never be able to forgive. He was a big coward about it and sort of just disappeared on Alex.
The ending came too fast for me, and was a bit too sweet and perfect for my taste. I was anticipating a big drama, but no. No real drama. Everything was just nicely put together and resolved.
I guess I had my mind set on a bit more angst and drama, but didn’t get that.

Alex wants more out of life than just casual encounters so when his dog is injured and the new Vet Tech Shane enters the exam room he is floored by the man and unable to deny the attraction he is feeling. Shane agrees to dog sit for him while he attends an out of town meeting, and things escalate from there.

Shane is just coming out after leaving his parents home and wants to have more than just a casual sex partner when he enters the exam room and sees Alex. Dog sitting for Alex is terrifying for him until it becomes clear that Alex wants him too.

Accidents lead to further revelations, and the reality of family. His, theirs, and ours suddenly change their lives from single guys to a real family.

A rather nice read. Love and family can be interesting and frustrating, but that too is life.

Many things to enjoy about this story – especially the adorable dog! Alex seemed like a wonderful guy who deserved to find someone special. Shane was shy and very conservative – just starting to venture out of the closet. They made a good pair, but wow, Shane was holding back one heck of a secret. I hated that he never talked with Alex about it, but love how Alex responded once he found out. The background around how the secret came to be was a bit disturbing and questionable for me and I wish there had been a bit more of the story reserved for the post secret reveal. Regardless, I liked this one and found it to be a great fit to the original picture prompt. Thank you for this contribution to the LHNB event!

I don't mind a story told in first person. I don't mind a story that switches POVs in first person. (I've done it myself.) What I do mind is present tense. And the repetition of each chapter with not much added in addition.

Having said that, I did like Alex and Shane, and I was glad Shane's mother was a decent person, unlike his father. And there was one other person, who shall be nameless, who screamed witch from the moment she appeared. I really would have liked to see her get her comeuppance.

I liked this story. It was a bit rushed though. I felt like the author was trying to hurry and tell the story by shortening sentences and skimming certain situations. It probably could have been a much better written story if she had made it into a full novel. I saw potential for a REALLY great read instead of just a great read.
Loved the characters and the story and the attention to the love scenes. Really well written. Will definitely read more of her stuff.

This was a cute story of one person getting away from his conservative homophobic upbringing and meeting the man of his dreams. There is a LOT of internalizing that, if they would just open their mouths, would avoid a LOT of the angst and conflict in the story. Overall it was a nice love story with a little twist.

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were cute and sexy. Shane was just so adorable! I just wanted to cuddle him. The development of characters and the relationship was awesome, especially for such a short book. The twist was pretty good too. I can honestly say I didn't see THAT coming :)

When It's Right is an adorable story of finding love, happiness, and who you are.

This was a great story overall. Shane and Alex were so cute together. Only major drawback for me was Shane being a coward and not telling Alex what was going on once he made his decision. Loved the epilogue though. =D

I listened to the audiobook version of this. I thought the narrator did a really good job.

This was very sweet! I liked the characters, and always love a story with an adorable puppy dog in it! Cute! Still not a fan of present tense writing, and a few times the switching POVs did trip me up for a moment, but this was a very sweet story and I enjoyed it.

Shane is ready to be real and live his life. Alex is tied of the way he's been and ready to look for more so the timing seems perfect. But a little monkey wrench could be a game changer. Love the way this one works out.

Sweet story that is probably the best I've read from Aria Grace. Loved the guys and their whirlwind romance. I'd love a sequel that is set a few years down the road... Recommend if you like the 'insta-family' stories.
