Erich Honecker war 169 Tage in Berlin-Moabit inhaftiert, ehe er Anfang 1993 nach Chile ausreiste. Im Gepäck hatte er ein Tagebuch, etwa 400 handschriftlich gefüllte Seiten. "Für Margot" stand auf dem Deckblatt. Darin berichtet er über den Gefängnisalltag, sein Befinden, Gespräche und Eindrücke. Es sind vermutlich die einzigen persönlichen Notizen, die Erich Honecker je zu Papier brachte. Sie erscheinen im Jahr, in welchem er 100 geworden wäre.

About the author

Erich Honecker was a communist politician and the last state leader of the German Democratic Republic from 1971-1989.

After the fall of East Germany, he fled to the Soviet Union but was extradited to West Germany, were he was accused and sentenced for high treason, cause he ordered border guards to shot at illegal border crossers.

He was released from prison for health reasons and died in exile in Chili a few years later.

Erich Honecker, presidente de la RDA entre 1976 y 1989, analiza desde prisión, con visión justa y autocrítica, las causas de la caída de la Alemania socialista (y antifascista), y hace augurios bastante reveladores del mundo que dejó la desaparición del campo socialista europeo y que todavía hoy estamos pagando.

Muy buen libro. Una visión diferente de cómo cayó la RDA y el bloque soviético, y las consecuencias posteriores, a sólo 6 años después de los acontecimientos. Parece ser que no fue a causa de "la libertad"
