Learn how to create wearable works of art! Beaded Bracelets will show you how to make 25 original woven beaded bracelets that are contemporary and sure to make a statement.
Every bracelet design is unique and has been created by author Claudine McCormack Jalajas to help you master the four main basic beadweaving peyote, crossweave, right angle weave, and herringbone. Each design comes with a complete and detailed material list, and clear step-by-step instructions and illustrations. And all the projects will show you how beads are gently woven together to create bracelets that are lacy, chunky, sleek, fringed, delicate, and most of all beautiful. Also included are tips for purchasing the right tools and beads and resources that will guide your buying decisions.
I have mixed feelings about this book. Beautifully presented, the projects look do-able and lovely. But the diagrams are not easy to follow (I'm not a beginner having owned a bead shop and sell my jewellery), and the pieces she makes look like they will fall apart in a minute - huge amounts of thread showing and loose. She states most beaders use only single thread, and she finishes with a single half hitch and glue - asking for trouble. I always double the thread and knot/thread/knot every end.
Never really done with a pattern book but have read through all the tips and successfully executed more than one of the patterns. The directions are very clear. In a couple of cases I needed more of a bead than the pattern called for but it wasn't an issue. The pictures are very nice and I thought the patterns chosen were simple but elegant. I purchased this as a kindle book and am happy I did. Overall a nice book.
I originally gave this book 4 stars, but have revised it to 5. The original 4 star rating was because none of the designs called out to me personally. On reflections, I've upgraded it to a 5 because the instructions are rock solid, written in a very clear and concise manner. Lots of good pictures and simple designs (which look more complex than they are).
A good solid book with nice designs which (in my opinion) will 'age' well.
Cute projects. There's no pictures of the steps but there are small diagrams so you need to be able to visualize as you go. Not the greatest directions but you can figure it out by the diagrams. And she doesn't explain how to make each project the length you need so you'll need to understand how to do that.
Not looking for patterns or instructions (this book has both, and good ones too) but inspiration for ideas to use the abundant (I was a pack rat/magpie in past lives, I'm sure) materials I already have on hand. I found two inspired ideas.
