Not many people seem to know about this book, but the 'diabolical' deeds of Marmalade Atkins and her singing donkey Rufus provide great comedy and this is a particularly good book to read aloud. Marmalade lives the life that most children dream about - little to no parental supervision, a magical pet that talks and takes her on adventures and best of all, she does whatever she wants whenever she wants to. Every child's dream, this book is horribly under appreciated. A must read for all!

loved this book as a kid and I have to admit I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed the re-read as an adult

This was good when I was twelve and is still readable now I’m forty-two. It’s fast paced and Marmalade has an anarchic and amusing personality.
