“Detoxify trauma” sums up the beginning of this book nicely. Seeking help seems important in a toxic relationship and is a necessity. Therapy is essential too. Giving yourself space to recover is important too. The cycle of abuse is looked at. Keeping records seems important. Finances are looked at. The importance of setting budgets is examined. Aspects to a break-up are looked at; staying single, looking after self, allowing nature in, keeping a pet, going out and volunteering. Don’t ignore art, spiritual matters and fitness, especially outdoor sports. Yoga and breathing can assist and have a part to play. Combatting flashbacks is to be avoided. Having a vision for moving forward can be important and having goals. Perhaps do a tree of life, each part of the tree representing something different. Tracking progress and seeing things through dominate. The author strives to empower other women having gone through difficulties herself and for that she has to be applauded.
