Some attractions are too strong to resist. I know it's wrong... The way he looks at me. The way he makes me feel. The things he does to me... all in the name of teaching me consequences
I loved the idea of this book, and so I went in without much thought. It was good, okay. Just felt like a little monotone story. No flair, a story being told, but not creating much emotion. I will read book 2 to see if it hopefully gets better.
In Short - I wanted more from the characters. - This book has left me with mixed feelings. - I want to see where things go next.
In Long
I really like Golden Angel so I was looking forward to this. I am all for taboo books, in fact I love the challenge of them and them pushing my boundaries and feelings. However I am really unsure about how I feel about this, mainly because I wanted more from the characters.
This is a really short book, around 50 pages I believe. This meant there wasn't much time to get to know the characters on a more 'personal' level or for their characters to become developed. I think I really missed this, especially as I am very unsure about 'Uncle'. I wanted to know him more so I can make my mind up.
I am just so unsure about what happens in this book, it left me feeling really strange and uncomfortable at times.
Final Thoughts
I want to read part 2 to see where things go next.
Well, this story left me ALL KINDS of tingly ;) LOL
There's nothing I like more than a disciplinary age gap story and this one had delivered in spades so far! I especially liked that Janie's character. Max was expected but she surprised me. Before I started reading this I had preconceived notions on how she would behave etc etc etc. I'd read enough of these stories to form a vague opinion, but when the story started unfolding, I was surprised. Janie didn't behave in certain ways on purpose to get Max riled up and it was refreshing! It gave the story a lot more depth for me.
I'm not going to give you a play by play of what happens. That would just take the fun out of it for you ;) But trust me that this is delicious and very well thought out. I honestly cannot wait to get my hands on the second chapter of Uncle Max and Janie. I hope it is just as delicious ;)
This book is supposed to be a little taboo because it is about a niece and her uncle but Janie was adopted so that kind of takes away the taboo part.
Although the writing was good the story just wasn't where her other books are. I was disappointed. I never got to know the characters. The uncle I know is supposed to be a mystery but I didn't get to know Janie at all. Yes she is a good girl, a virgin and grew up with her Grandma but that is all I know. This is a short story so there wasn't much time but I feel that things were repeated and I normally don't get this from the author.
Don’t get me wrong. I love a good well written taboo-romance. The content of this book isn’t the issue. It’s the fact that it lacks any substance outside of “Niece wants to b@ng controlling uncle” there isn’t anything driving the story. There isn’t any character development, there’s no over arching plot line, heck there is barely anything to the story outside of the spicy scenes.
I wanted more out of this book and it just didn’t deliver. It was a very short read so it’s not to big of a loss but I’ve read books of this length before and didn’t have this issue of feeling like I didn’t get a true story. I’m going to pass on reading the next book in this duet.
I loved this book, it’s short excellent storyline forbidden desires, taboo and most importantly keep you sucked in til the end. I loved that Janie is curious about her Uncle Max. She heard stories but never known him until tragedy happens. I must say Janie is learning that her actions have consequences that she is willing to explore. I’m looking forward to seeing Janie’s trip down the rabbits hole.
Dark Angel writes really hot stories that both satisfy me and leave me wanting more. How she does it, I don't know, but she does and I'm not complaining at all. This one was no different, I can't wait to find out what our naughty niece and her naughtier uncle get up to next.
Filthy fun. Although she's nineteen, Janie ends up under the guardianship of her Uncle Max after her adopted grandmother falls ill. The circumstances aren't really important. What happens from there is. Uncle Max is not a good man. He sets out to ruin sweet, virginal Janie, and he does just that, introducing her step by step into a very kinky adult world. As other reviewers have noted, there isn't a ton of character development, but I didn't feel there needed to be. I wasn't overly concerned about what mad Max a sadist. This is a fetish fantasy and very enjoyable exactly for that. Great fun.
Janie was adopted as an infant and her adoptive parents died when she was five. She was raised by her adoptive grandma and is now 19. When grandma is hospitalized, Uncle Max moves in to watch over her. He's 34 and has ideas about rules and discipline that turn her on.
While this is definitely not a trope I'm usually into, the writing is so well done, and the vulnerability of the characters draws you in. I remember how it felt to have your hormones raging (though mine started much younger than Janie). Great way to dip your toes into a kink you might not have originally been interested in.
So naughty, so s*xy, and yep totally inappropriate. Not quite my cup of tea, but I did enjoy the story so far. Will definitely read part 2 as soon as it is available in KU.
Steamy, taboo step family story. Janie and her ‘Uncle’ cross some lines that probably shouldn’t have been crossed. Uncle Max is definitely the Black Sheep of the family.
An erotic story of 'forbidden' attraction but the characters are not related by blood, so it's a girl with a crush on her uncle after she sees him as a Dom and gets very Sub feelings of attraction. The attraction grows until the somewhat of a cliffhanger ending, the action is sure to get even hotter in Book 2.
