Lina Gardiner was born and raised in New Brunswick. She has a deep appreciation of the beauty and the special attributes of her province. As a test to see if she could make it as a writer, she wrote an article on the Fundy Trail Parkway and got the cover story in the magazine We're Home New Brunswick.

That was her sign to dive into her lifelong dream of writing. After that, she wrote a short story for an anthology entitled New Brunswick Short Stories by Dorothy Dearborn. It took six years of serious writing to finally sell her first novel. Her editor liked the characters so much she offered Lina a series before the novel even hit the shelves. Lina continues to write every day and appreciates every chance she gets to make her writing stronger and better.

Clever complexity and breathtakingly in-depth world building, creates a compelling post-apocalyptic masterwork.

This riveting read fuses together an eclectic mix of advanced technology and remarkable creatures, within a distopian setting that’s utterly extraordinary and breathtaking! The terrifying, chilling nuance to the narrative keeps you intently on edge as the sweeping saga pulls you into the delicately woven plot. The highly engaging and dramatic storyline is full of otherworldly goodness, and out-of-this-world innovative concepts like nothing I have encountered before. The deliciously detailed, metaphorical prose gave such realistic depth to the writing; so that you are able to clearly envisage the horror, bloodthirsty gore and dark sinister edge. The substantial storyline contains sci-fi/ futuristic elements with a sprinkling of romance and a dash of idiosyncrasy for an astonishing outcome.

Gift of Prophecy is set within Nevermore; a world of deadly danger hidden in the shadows which sends shivers down the spine. Darla Rune a psychic reverse-engineer is set on tracking down a purely evil dictator, who is intent on crushing all hope left in humanity upon the Earth. If she fails in the consequential task laid out before her, she will lose everything that she holds most dear – including the love of a man whom she never expected to love.

Lina Gardiner’s explosive novel is wrought with intensity so contagious; you are instantly sucked into an addictive story of mind-blowing, epic proportions and great premise. The entire concept of the distopian/ post-apocalyptic world is sheer brilliance as too are the vibrant characters that are equally unforgettable. I loved the likable, gutsy main protagonist whose strength and determination was commendable. The fated, star-crossed lovers caught me entangled within a web of profound poignancy and emotive bliss that was so heartrending I felt intimately attached to their personal story. Whilst reading this novel I experienced a wave of divergent sensations; from nail-biting suspense, to heartbreak and wonder…

The Prophecy is an intriguing concept that ensnares the senses and bewitches the mind! I was so impressed by such an ambitious work of all encompassing fantastical innovation and truth-drawing sincerity. Gift of Prophecy will appeal to fans of “I am number four” and those seeking a sensational, atypical novel which blends a variety of genre for a truly original tale.

An Electro Magnetic Pulse nearly wiped out civilization and technology; books and tinkering are strictly forbidden. Darla was forced to live apart from her family and spends her days visiting the forbidden Boneyards. She makes things and trades them to survive. When she has an altercation with a Yardmen, (a genetic deviant who almost kills her) she is aided by the brother of their new ruler. She soon learns of prophecies that have been foretold and entrusted to these brothers. Prophecies that reveal she will save them all. The tale that unfolds was fascinating and filled with danger.

Gardiner presented us with likable and noble characters. Darla is one tough cookie, fearless and brave she has had to overcome and fight for the simplest of necessities. I immediately liked her and as Gardiner peeled back her layers I was even more impressed. Rud, is the younger brother of Oberon the new ruler and, like most younger brothers living in his brother’s shadow. His intentions however misguided are good. Rud is a strong solider, smart, but young, and we see growth in him throughout. Oberon as the oldest has been handed the prophecies and is visited upon by these spirit guides. He holds the weight of the world and its people on his shoulders. His love of family and the people made him swoon-worthy. Vestro is the evil dictator who Oberon and his men have overthrown. He and his mutant army have secured themselves in the Nevermore. (Wilds) An obsessed addict the man made me cringe. Secondary characters added to the tale, including a few genetically altered mutants. I became quite fond of one in particular. He reminded me of Dobby from Harry Potter.

Gift of Prophecy was an engaging tale and I found the world to be both simplistic and complex. Gardiner did a wonderful job of bringing the world to life from the Boneyards to the Nevermore. Her descriptions of the mutated soldiers gave me shivers. There is a romantic thread and between moments of battle we see it develop. It was not insta-love, but fated. The banter between them was fun, and I enjoyed watching it unfold. The prophecy was interesting, and watching Darla come into herself and accept her gifts was enjoyable. The pacing was well done and grew in intensity as the tale progressed. There were a few details that I wanted more information about but Gift of Prophecy wrapped up nicely. Gardiner answered questions and gave us a satisfactory conclusion.

I really enjoyed the world-building in this book, from the boneyards with the mountains of discarded, useless technology and the Yardmen who guarded them, the terrifying creatures of the Nevermore, the complexity of the post-apocalyptic society. I'm hoping this is just the first book in a series so I can go back to that world.

I enjoyed this book, it had a good story line, and I loved that it brought two young people back together that had been torn apart. She had bespelled so she didn't remember him.
