The Chewable Gospel: A Bite-Size Taste of God's Super-Size Story

Rate this book
The Gospel is the story of God reaching down to save humanity out of love, for His glory. It's often talked about, but not often enough understood. This is a short explanation of the Good News of Jesus Christ, presented in a fun, creative, and compelling way. The Chewable Gospel is short, and it's a quick and easy read. Each chapter is "easily chewed" and understood. It's written to be helpful to those who do not yet believe and those who have believed for years. The hope is that, as a result of The Chewable Gospel, God will draw some to faith Jesus.

Well worth a read. I read this in about an hour - and am a slow reader. It's writing style is probably aimed at young adults and is easy to read. Very clear explanation of the gospel not just in words but from the heart. Donovan clearly loves Jesus and trusts him with everything. The only criticism is at the end of chapter 5 when he talks of Jesus enduring crucifixion for the joy set before him I would like to have seen more about the affect or cost that sin had on Jesus and being separated from God.
Overall a great way to understand clearly and share the gospel. He ends with a chapter challenging us to choose and reminding people that whatever we believe nothing can change the truth. I liked this quote
"Peterpan-ism tells us that some things are only true if we believe. And if we don't then they cease to exist. But whether or not a person believes does not determine if it's real. God is not like Tinkerbell"
