A great cover!

”Missed Connections” starts with Robin falling on his keister.

Then we cut to Dick Grayson on a date at an Italian restaurant with a beautiful dark brunette.

But Dick checks the time and sees that he must go to meet his ‘buddy’. She’s not pleased.

Nightwing is next gliding over the city when he sees a truck with the back door open. Going inside he finds a guy about to grab a girl. He goes for the rescue and in the truck, a trap door drops him down a shaft and into a room. With Robin.

Batman and Batgirl are rescuing people in yet another car right on the edge of a bridge about to go over the side.

People can’t drive in Gotham either.

But the car teeters over! Batgirl performs an incredible save of the kid in the back seat!

”This isn’t what you do every Saturday night is it?”

Alfred calls and tells them Nightwing and Robin cannot be reached. They were supposed to rendezvous near Johnson Avenue an hour ago.

Art by Tim Levins and Beatty is very good here. Levins is a new name to me. Still Bruce Timm like, but new angles, expressions, and styles are noticeable.

In the brick room Nightwing and Robin talk about dating. Then Killer Croc drops in!

They tell Croc that the doors are electronically locked and they can’t get out. Croc says he heard the sounds of someone in trouble. Robin asks if he was going to help?

”No, I was gonna see if they had any money I could take. ”

Due to a misunderstanding about the woman who lured them into this trap they fight.

Batgirl and Batman find the truck and go to inspect it. Batman is suspicious and triggers the trap door but doesn’t fall in.

Catwoman shows up and bolo’s Batgirl. She says she’s been waiting for Batman and went to a lot of trouble to set this trap up and he just rendered it moot. She leaves.

Batman tells Batgirl to find Nightwing and Robin while he goes after Catwoman. There is a good chase across the rooftops. When he catches her he asks what this is about. She said she just wanted to talk. It’s been months since they’ve seen each other.

”You not only have nothing to say to me, you don’t even know what I’m talking about. ”

Batman (channeling Adam West) says he’s going to take her in. She’s not ready for that and escapes.

Getting to Nightwing and Robin Batgirl asks Batman:

”So… did you guys finally talk?”

That was weird, cute and funny and great artwork and a blast! Highly recommended.

This was probably my favorite issue of the ones that I have read recently. There’s a trap that people keep on falling into because they were clueless of what’s happening inside a truck. But Batman doesn’t fall for it! Robin, Nightwing and Croc fell for it and even Batgirl comes close to falling for it if it wasn’t for Batman intervening. Yet as the second half of the issue reveals Batman is clueless in other ways. Rather funny and light hearted but good.
