If you've ever wondered whether faith makes a difference in the worst times; whether God is real; or how humor can find its way even into life's battlefields . . . this inspirational book will show you.
A wonderful collection of stories from a hospital and military chaplain. Burkes is one of my favorite columnists, and reading this book was like settling down with the weekend paper. Recommended.
I bought this book several months ago when the author spoke at my church. He was an excellent speaker...very down to earth, with humor and heart.
I started reading this book around Christmastime and just finished it. It was split into many bit-size stories, perfect for sampling one at a time. I appreciated the author's writing style. It was very down-to-earth and not preachy. He had a good balance of humor and hope along with the heartbreaking experiences he encountered.
This book came at a good time for me, when several friends have tragically lost loved ones. This book provided good inspiration for living in a world where life regularly takes sudden and unexpected turns.
As a Christian, I found a lot in this book that I could relate to. But, because of the author's approach, I believe this book can speak to a much wider audience (not just Christians).
