When a small wicker basket containing $10,000 appears on Suzie Q. Wall's front step in the middle of the night, and a second basket containing a diamond and emerald bracelet shows up next, the fledging P.I. finds herself in pursuit of an elusive client, a murderer, an aging Vegas showgirl and a baby-seller. Literally using her head, she saves her own life and cracks the case.
This fast-paced short story, in my opinion, is not long enough to get to know the protagonists who are likeable characters. If the book was say - ten thousand words - longer, there would be time to discover Suzie and her fathers' background stories.
The plot is good and well fleshed out for a short. A few typos and formatting problems, but these could well be the typical product of an e-book.
Good work on the whole and I would like to read more of Suzie and her dad. Hopefully the author is crafting a novella "as we speak."
