Anne Baker trained as a nurse in England, but after her marriage lived in Libya and Nigeria before returning to Birkenhead, where she worked as a health visitor. She now lives with her husband in Merseyside.

A good story but I have to admit I lost interest when the action moved to Lagos. I enjoy Anne Baker's saga's but have realised now that I've read several of them that the main characters are usually useless, lazy, drunken, abusive or mentally ill men and sensible, beautiful, intelligent, independent young women.

I enjoyed this book immensely, and would definitely recommend it! I don't like to give the story away other than what the author states, I am content that it has an ending, so you are not left with unanswered questions!😊

You write such a good story, Anne. Thank you. On to the next one. I usually don't read books by the same author or with the same characters, one after the other, but your stories are so diverse that doing so isn't a bad thing
