January 9, 2014Poems in pencil photocopied and stapled into a faux composition book mailed from Oakland-- a friendly, floppy thingness to the object. The poems have a sneaky wisdom to them through the risk of childishness. There's a tradition to that. Yepez calls poets the "sacred clowns," the shortcoming of many poets being not realizing this. He was talking about Olson. Olson wasn't funny. Haber: "If I legitimize you, will you legitimize me? BUT WHAT IF I DON'T WANT TO BE LEGITIMATE!"
