Four cosy nights, three awkward days, two mourning siblings and a Partridge on Pear Street. NEL Losing both Mum and Dad this year has been tough and as much as I’d love to sit and wallow in my misery this Christmas, my brother has invited me to spend the holiday with him and his in-laws…and his best friend. I have been crushing on Jake Partridge since I was old enough to notice boys. He is everything I am not and the only one I’ve ever really wanted. Now I have to navigate holiday socialising and my brother’s perfect family, as well as sharing space with Jake and trying not to be a giant Christmas bauble of awkwardness. JAKE Nel Forest has grown up. I’ve been following her on social media for years and know she is far from the shy and retiring schoolgirl I once knew. But seeing her now, surrounded by her brother and his family she seems to be back to the blushing beauty she was back then. I’m desperate to see the other side, the one she shows to the world, the one far more daring and seductive. My best friend’s little sister should be off limits, but spending so much time with her is making Nel the gift I want to unwrap this Christmas.
Got this book as an ARC and loved it. We meet Nel, a beautiful plus sized woman who has been learning to love herself and grow her confidence enough to try and help others to grow theirs too via her platforms. A talented photographer who catches people's beauty proving that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We then have the mmc Jake the teacher, the drop dead gorgeous man she's dreamed about through out her younger years and her brothers best friend. Won't lie, started reading this book at 10pm at night finished it at 2:30am as I couldn't put it down, absolutely loved it. Deffo one to read, has laughs, crying n heart warming bits.. I loved it.
Soooo I enjoyed this book so much I was able to read its entirety in just one day (: I love Christmas themed stories and this one made me laugh and smile quite a few times! I really identified with Nel and her self-conscious thoughts, and I think a lot of other readers will, too. And Jake is such a cutie! Definitely put this on your TBR!
I was lucky enough to get an ARC copy of this book and I absolutely devoured it! It was short and sweet with the right amount of spice. I read it on the rainiest weekend and we had the fire on so it felt like we’d skipped autumn and went straight to winter!
Nel is Harry’s little sister, Jake is Harry’s best friend. They both get invited to spend 4 days at Christmas at Harry and Lisa’s house but the hotel they’re both staying in mess up the reservations and they end up sharing a room. This book had me laughing as well as swooning and gave me allll the festive feels (even though it is only October). I would definitely recommend reading this book this winter!

I received an ARC of this book and had a fun time reading it.
The book centers on complicated Christmas holidays for our curvy MC. Nel is a woman who has lost both of her parents within the last twelve months and is journeying to her "perfect" older brother's home to spend the holidays with him, his perfect wife, her family, and unexpectedly, her brother's lifelong best friend and Nel's longtime crush, Jake Partridge.
The book is a fun romance with kind characters and a touch of Christmas spirit and hijinks. The plot moves smoothly forward, there's plenty of moments that made me laugh, and nice development of the MC.
I received this novella as an ARC a while back but have only just found the time to sit down to read it and I’m so mad that I didn’t read it sooner!
Nel is a beautiful, plus sized woman who has built up her own business and self confidence in every way. Now she’s an online Influencer with a huge following. Within her business, she helps people find their confidence and understand their beauty with boudoir shoots.
Jake is perfection in every sense of the word. He’s build like a god, is a schoolteacher and even volunteers as a fireman. And he’s Nel’s brother’s best friend.
Nel comes home for Christmas, after the loss of her parents and not spending as much time with her brother and his family as she maybe should have and she is nervous. She’s spending the holidays with her brother and his perfect family, as well as his extended family and you guessed it! Jake!

I can’t begin to tell you how often this novella had be laughing out loud! A beautiful written, cute and fun spicy little novella. Honestly, this book is hilarious, it’s so cosy, Christmassy and makes me feel all good inside. The characters are all so lovely and likeable, Nel is the sweetest, Jake is a dreamboat and the spice is surely SPICY!

Jake… 🤭 i know i say this about everyone but i needddd a jake in my life, like right now please 😭 the WAY he was with her like ughhh
Im 100% re-reading in December it was literally so perfect 🥹
Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this read. I personally felt so close to Nel, the things that shes been through and the way some people were with her, ive gone through similar things too and some scenes literally had my heart breakinggg for her.
This is an adorable Christmas novella that you ALL need to read asap or at LEAST buy it ready for the Christmas time 🤭🥹
Lastly, i wanted to say a massive thank you to the lovely @author_h.r.lloyd for giving me an arc copy of this wonderful book, you should be so so proud angel 🥹💗
Tropes: ~ Brothers best friend ~ Dual POV ~ Plus size FMC ~ One bed
Hannah… oh my… is there anything you can’t do?!?!! This story is so beautiful I love it!!!!!
“Because you’re Jake and I’m—” “Perfect,” I finish for her before planting a soft kiss on her lips. -Omg he’s so beautiful 😭I want myself a Jake!!!😭
This book is soooo saucy OBSESSED!!!
Jake is naughtyyyyyy. I absolutely adore how beautiful he makes Nel feel, any insecurities are not allowed to remain he proves to her how gorgeous she is, how much he loves her body and it’s so beautiful… he’s such a lovely person. Who goes above and beyond with worshipping her. “I want to worship every inch of you. The more inches, the more there is to fucking worship.”🥺
I absolutely adore them as a couple. They’re so beautiful for one another. So perfect. The happiness that the other has sought for so long.
The most beautiful Christmas romance highly recommend!!!!! ❤️❤️
If you read any spicy Christmas book this year - I strongly suggest you pick this one!
I read this book in the space of 2 hours and I was quite honestly obsessed 🥵
The story follows Nel, our FMC who's a plus sized babe working on loving herself for who she is after being ridiculed and picked on by her older brother Harry and his friends when she was younger, by working as a boudoir photographer and helping others love themselves in their own bodies too. Enter Jake, Harry's chiseled and drop dead gorgeous teacher best friend who comes to spend Christmas with Nel and her family and let's just say things get SPICY!
One bed, brothers best friend, forbidden romance, Christmas kisses under the mistletoe I mean could you ask for anything else?
Literally my only complaint is I wanted MORE and I could have read about their story for another 200 pages.
This is the first book of Hannah's I've read and I can't wait to read more of her work because it was 🤌
Yet again H R Lloyd has brought everything into this book.
Loved how warm and cozy this book made feel. Absolutely loved the characters.
Nel is a big girl who has over come many obstacles, one being her weight, and her brother Harry does not help with this even if it is unconsciously. And she has had a crush on her brothers best friend for like forever!
Harry is nels brother and does not approve of his sister career choice. And belittles her without realising. With losing both parents in a short space of time. He takes the role of a parent instead of been a brother.
Jake is a scrumptious man specimen and made me feel hot under the collar. He sees Nel for who she is and stalks her on her social media accounts and starts falling for Nel.
There is some smut in this book but it takes a while to get there but wow it is a little steamy!

I can’t tell you how many time this novella had me laughing out loud! A fabulously fun, Christmasy romcom from HR Lloyd that leaves you with all the feels for this adorable couple!
It’s a full house family Christmas, grief, brothers best friend MMC (yep, he’s the teenage crush!), some cyber stalking-ish, one bed, mistletoe, spice and a sexy Santa!
I absolutely loved the overall story. Nel is such a sweet character. She’s had an emotional time of it and is then presented with the gorgeous Jake. He in tern has noticed her from afar, as more than just his best mate’s baby sister. And so ensues the flirting and well, you can guess where that leads 🔥
I was very lucky to be given an arc copy of this book and oh boy, did it deliver ❤️ teenage crush 📚 brothers best friend ❤️ one bed 📚 spice 🌶️🌶️🌶 ❤️ mistletoe 😜
Nel is spending Christmas with her brother Harry and his wife Lisa, and of course Harry’s best friend Jake is there too, and Nel’s had a huge crush on him since she was younger, as they get to the hotel where they are both staying there’s been a mix up with the reservations and yes there’s only one room with one bed!!! 😜
This book is absolutely hilarious, the spice is on point and it’s such a feel good, easy read that gets you in the Christmas mood, I will definitely be rereading this, and I recommend it to everyone…… GO READ IT RIGHT NOW! 🎅🏼🎄🧑🏻🎄⛄️
This was such a fun read! I was laughing all the way through. I honestly do not read fluffy books enough. It did touch on some hard topics, being fatphobia and grief, but kept it pretty light overall.
I loved that there was no third act breakup as well. It is so refreshing to read romance books without unnecessary breakups. This was such a fluffy and funny read when I really needed one and I hope everyone picks it up when it comes out!
Also, loved hearing about Nel's job taking sexy photos of people. I didn't know anyone did that! I'm sure lots of couples would actually do that for one another.
Okay so I might be starting Christmas very early, reading this in September, but I was too excited and couldn't put it down. This story made me laugh, it made me mad (the fat 'jokes' felt so real - I was so mad for Nel), it made me cry and it made me fall in love. It's beautifully written and draws you into the world being created. I absolutely loved the FMC - I wish more books had a curvy female lead. A perfect Christmas short to get ready for the festive season.
This Christmas novella really got me in the mood for cosy season. A traditional British Christmas with Nel finding herself spending Christmas with her longtime crush who also happens to be her brother’s best friend. I really resonated with Nel and her fragile confidence. The characters are well written and there are some humorous elements of the novella which brought out a bit of festive pantomime type comedy. A great cosy read.
Cozy little Christmas romance. I really enjoyed this book, it was a perfect start to launch the festive spirit. The main character Nel was a lovable, plus sized queen and I loved seeing a main character with curves and a body we see in real life. She had a beautiful personality and I loved seeing it evolve, as well as how the relationships in the book grow and evolve. For a short read, the character development and growth was really good, the setting was lovely, had just enough spice, and just enough wanting to occasionally throttle a character. I still think about the main characters a couple of weeks later, so I was properly able to update my review after I've had time to let the story settle. I think it'll be an annual comfort read!
I absolutely loved A Partridge on Pear Street! Nel and Jake had fabulous character, the supporting characters were really fun too.
It made me laugh and cry and really connect to the characters with their grief and sibling relationships.
I'm sat here still smiling because of how much I enjoyed this story and especially enjoyed the epilogue! Hopefully we might see other characters in future books (novellas) or even revisiting.
This is my first official Christmas book I’ve ever read and I was NOT disappointed. It’s beautifully written and the story made me cry both happy and sad tears through out. Please read it, it’s such a fast read and it put me straight into the Christmas spirit. Plus who doesn’t like some good smut, it was the perfect amount for a book this size, I quite literally have no complaints which is why it’s a 5 star for me.
I love this book. The 2 main characters are believable, I especially like the FMC, she was real and relatable. We all have things we don't like about ourselves and this author wrote about them with empathy. A quick read and one I will read again at Christmas. This was the 1st book I've read from this author after following her on TikTok for her spicy book reviews😉 I'm now off to look at her books and download them.
This book was everything I didn’t know I needed. I simply could not put it down. I read it in one sitting.
Nel the FMC was written so well, I feel like she was very relatable, being very self-conscious especially stepping her family. Jake the cutest MMC ever, super protective and stands up for his woman, and helps to bring her out of her shell. Their banter, and chemistry was great.
I loved the characters in this book and cannot wait to read book 2.
I loved this book. Right from the start you get immersed into the story. Nel’s character is so relatable, you instantly feel all the emotions she is. Nel and Jakes story gives you all the feels, and it was laugh out loud funny, heartfelt, romantic and sexy. I would definitely recommend for any reader.
A Partridge on Pear Street by H.R.Llyod is the perfect holiday novella. You'll never hear the words 'little elf' again without curling your toes and thinking of Jake partridge.
Hilarous, sexy, emotional it is the perfect Christmas romcom.Move over Love Actually, I want to see a film adaptation of A Partridge on Pear Street!
This book was so sweet. I really enjoyed it, it was a great start to my holiday reads!
I really appreciated that there was no big break up scene, or misunderstanding, or some big problem near the end that seems needless at times. I loved that it was cheery, cozy, and heartwarming.
This book is most definitely a spicy adult book. 18+ readers. I recommend picking it up and reading it!
Lloyd has a way with words, that is for sure! This story is super cute and very relatable as far as the relationship goes. It brought up lots of feelings and reminders of the early days of dating. Very well written with a level of spice that is just right, I'd say! Wonderful work. Definitely would recommend to those looking for a quick cute spicy book!
This was a really cute and sweet Christmas read! I’m not a very festive person but this managed to warm my heart and absolutely get me in the mood for Christmas cheer!!
I loved the representation in this book and the growth that was shown in the main and side characters!
The best way to describe it: It’s like your drinking the yummiest warming hot chocolate whilst your out in on a winters night, with snow falling around you and warm around you keep you safe and warm 😊
ARC REVIEW! So I finished this book yesterday, and it is literally the cutest book. Slow burn, brother’s best friend, Christmas romance. The banter and chemistry between the FMC and MMC is just so fun. Loved it. Go read this if you want a cute, easy, Christmas read!
