Stephen and Victoria are your average fraternal twins who have been sent to their Great Aunt Belinda's home for a few months while their parents are on a business trip. As any adventurous teen would do they explore the woods behind the farmhouse and soon stumble into a world unlike ours where they find themselves a part of a prophecy to help a chosen one from that world save it from an unknown evil. When they learn of the chosen one's reluctance to act the twins decide to rely on their own unique skills and try to save the day on their own, only to find that what they thought would be an epic adventure, is much more dangerous than anyone could have expected.
This is the first book in the Empty Sword Saga. It is a new Faith-based series that aims to provide a fun, yet serious, story for teens on up to read. It's been a blast to write this story as well as the sequels that will be on the way soon.
The Empty Sword was a very good book with a well thought out plot. The characters were very relatable (many young men could relate to Stephen with his Swiss Army knife) and the story contained some real surprises leading up to the exciting climax. It is very interesting and sucks you in and makes you want to read more when you should be doing your chores. It also contained a lot of fast paced action/fighting, which could be a little too descriptive for a younger audience so I would not recommend for those under 13. The fantasy world Luladal itself was very well created with it's many different "species"; Blakimans, Kittrians and Trodontians just to name a few. I also found the pronunciation guide very helpful, otherwise I would have had no idea how to say everything right. Overall The Empty Sword was a great book and a must-read for teens/adults.
This book is fun, fast-paced, and unique! Perfect for fantasy lovers fifteen years old and up.
This book follows Steve and Tori, teenaged twins, as they walk into a fantastical new land filled with magic and a wide variety of creatures. They are quickly recruited to help the people of this land fight the Shadowed One who is a mysterious figure who wishes to come out of his banishment to rule the land.
This book is really engaging! The reader is swept up into the plot. The world and plot and unique and interesting. The one thing to be aware of is that there is quite a few descriptive fighting scenes so younger readers may struggle with it. Overall this is a great read for older teens and young adults!
