Lao She (Chinese: 老舍; pinyin: Lǎo Shě; Wade–Giles: Lao She; February 3, 1899 – August 24, 1966) was the pen name of Shu Qingchun (simplified Chinese: 舒庆春; traditional Chinese: 舒慶春; pinyin: Shū Qìngchūn; Manchu surname: Sumuru), a noted Chinese novelist and dramatist. He was one of the most significant figures of 20th-century Chinese literature, and best known for his novel Rickshaw Boy and the play Teahouse (茶館). He was of Manchu ethnicity. His works are known especially for their vivid use of the Beijing dialect.

This is one of the most attractive books to me since it is an excellent work wrote by Lao She. Through the book, I'm able to understand the society of the time very well. Just right after the Qing dynasty, there was the new republic of China that was built by Sun Yat-sen. Although it was a bright symbol of China's future, it was not stable enough since many people were living a hard life and needed to face many difficulties externally as well. The main character of the book is Xiangzi, he was a rickshaw driver. Together with his hard life, he also met three women in his life, which meant a lot to him. As the hard life, he had also gone through the inability of loving someone and also the forced love. He also had gone though many crimes accidentally. He sometimes would dig into doubts, why was he living here and what would he do????......
This book made me realized many things and also think about many things. readers' words can't even explain the book very well. I would always read the book over and over again.
