Braxton Carmichael might be unlucky in love, but he has plenty of other things going for him. He has a roof over his head, a career he loves, and a best friend who makes his life colorful. In fact, the only man he has the time or patience for is the hero of his new graphic novel.

That is, until he meets sexy firefighter and cursed shifter, Xander Brighton.

Between his job and his pack, Xander already has his hands full. As such, he’s never given much thought to the idea of having a mate, but when fate quite literally throws Braxton into his path, he doesn’t hesitate. One look, and he knows he’ll do whatever it takes to make the human his.

There’s just one little problem.

Braxton’s ex isn’t about to give him up without a fight—and a bloody one at that. But why? And more importantly, how do they stop him before someone ends up hurt…or worse?

I had an issue with Braxton, because I did't understand why he usually ran into the problem and ended up almost dying.

Anyway,Leap of faith is very sweet book with chemistry between Xander and Braxton. They're fated mate and sex scenes is very hot with alpha's possessiveness.they bit each other when they mated.

I daresay this book is spectacular compared with tons of books I've read in this week.

There are certain things that I like about this. No insta-love. I enjoyed the secondary characters (Keeton was great). The Curse was a nice touch and makes me interested in reading the next book in the series.

....but this did hit a couple of my pet peeves. The first is when it comes to domestic violence/stalking/abuse; I do not like it when what should be done is ignored. Even if you don't think getting a restraining order will help with stalking...you get it anyway. I could have overlooked the early part of the stalking because of that particular argument, but I couldn't ignore the violence. Braxton was pushed into traffic...not reported to the police...attacked and choked to passing out in his hospital room...not reported...had his phone, keys and wallet stolen...not reported...beat up to the point of passing out...not reported...arson...flakey/watered down because the said beating not reported...car explodes...reported by wrong people. Very aggravating to me and I realize that it works into the plot but maybe it was more of the characters ignoring the seriousness of the situation. I laughed when Braxton was surprised that Mason beat him. Mason did push him into traffic and then choke him to passing out earlier. Why was he surprised? People who deal with violence on a regular basis have a different reaction than someone who does not. The natural reactions of someone who has a violence free life was not there. No caution. No wariness. No respect for danger. It paints a poor picture of the characters nor does it fully engage the reader in the escalating danger.

The second issue is sex with people who are severely injured. I just can't find it to be a nice act regardless of how much love is involved.

A Leap of Faith is a m/m shifter story, with an interesting take on the old legend of shifters being tied to the moon.

Alexander Brighton (Xander) and his brothers, are a group of shifters, cursed and given up by their own families, because of the simple fact that they're all white animals. Their species vary, but the color remains the same. The white is a beacon, a telling sign that they are the cursed of their generation; for only white shifters are compelled beyond their control to shift every full moon. They don’t make many friends, they have a vast array of enemies and anyone who is unlucky enough to be in their presence when they change into their beast form goes mad. Some simply stop functioning normally and begin to slobber on themselves, while others go really mad, we’re talking the stark-raving Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson kind of crazy.

Braxton Carmichael is an author and orphan, who has a ex-boyfriend with a violent disposition who has been after Braxton since their break up months ago. One simple altercation between Braxton and said ex lands him right smack dab in the path of Xander Brighton. There is an instant attraction between the two men and Xander knows as soon as he smells Braxton, that he's his mate, but Braxton's psycho ex-boyfriend is still after him and finding out the gorgeous guy you just met turns into a white tiger and you're his chosen love, can be a bit much for anyone to handle.

Then, there is Braxton's best friend, Keeton, who answers his door in a section of this book, in nothing, but “a white t-shirt and Scooby-Doo bikini briefs” and who has settled himself very nicely into a slot on my very favorite characters list.

This was an excellent read and I loved every minute of it. Now, could March hurry up all ready? I'm ready for Keeton's story!

I really liked this first glimpse into a new series. The shifters are an interesting mix of different species, banding together for a reason that is fresh and slightly different (saying what that is would spoil the surprise). The focus is on the developing relationship between Braxton and Xander, with all its difficulties, including an interfering ex-lover.

Braxton hasn't had it easy. He fights hard to be independent, wants nothing more than to find 'his one true love', and is constantly harassed by his cheating ex-lover. I liked that he didn't completely roll over when he met Xander. Even though some of his antics felt a little childish, I could see where he was coming from.

Xander is a great alpha hero who fights hard to curb his macho instincts. He's understanding, wants nothing more than to protect Braxton from anything and everything that threatens him, and has a hard time accepting Braxton's need for independence. He also has the patience of a saint when his mate takes longer than hoped for to make up his mind.

I also loved the secondary characters, like Braxton's best friend, Keeton, and Xander's shifter friends. I can't wait for the next story!

4.5 stars (when compared to others of this type of story, a shifter romance series)

This book was a typical formulaic shifter romance but surprisingly much higher quality than most. It was funny in parts, dramatic in others. There was a lot of action and suspense and of course near-death and injury, my favorite. (I've never denied that I'm a sick woman.) Although it was predictable, I really liked the characters. The heroes that were key in this story, Keeton, Braxton, and Xander, were all individuals and each had a different voice.

I do love me some hospital scenes and the book delivers right from the beginning. Braxton's injury at the start is simply from fainting and I think the medical issues were a bit extreme for that but it was a refreshing change. The norm in action series is that when someone gets hit by a car, for example, is able to stand up and keep running. Yet later in the book .

Braxton doesn't automatically accept the shifter world and fated mates, either, which I really liked. "I mean, I don't even get a choice? Fate just decides that some random person is menat for me, and that's it?"

Another thing I really liked is that the shifters in the house (which I'm sure each book in the series will be about another one of them) are all bi. That stops the whole GFY issues which in books like this annoy me. I can handle it in a long, well plotted and thought out novel where it can be handled with sensitivity but these stories are just too short to make it believable for me at all. Plus, it's SO rare that people are bi. GFY people turn out to be either gay or it's GFY OFY.

I don't like when an adult partner is referred to as "being a handful" or told to behave or referred to as a brat. That's treating them like a child and it's always said by the big guy to the little guy. (Yes, as standard, all the main characters in the house are huge and the love interests are little.) There was some of that here and it bothered me but then came this passage which I really appreciated:
Okay so he needed to cut Xander some slack, but damnit, he wasn't a child, and he wasn't some damsel in diestress. He didn't need someone to swoop in and save the day, or spirit him away from the caslte undersiege, and he certianly didn't need soeone else to fight his battles for him.
He appreciated that Xander wanted to keep him safe, take care of him even. Braxton knew he was smaller, not as physically strong as most men. He had a tendency to be overly sensitive, and he wore his emotions on his sleeve. Did Xander see him as less of a man because of those things?

And this one:
"I told you to stay," Xander shot at him immediately.
"Actually, you told me to sit, but either way, like I said downstairs, I am not a dog. Nor am I a child." Braxton crossed his arms. "So, you can take your commands and go fuck yourself with them."

I even liked Xander's response to this:
"You are acting like a child, which is why I am treating you like a child."

(Braxton really was acting immature.) It showed that Xander didn't think of his mate as a child, he was just frustrated and angry because Braxton was being an idiot (which he was) and was just trying to keep him safe. Usually in these books when the little guy protests, the bigger guy and his friends say the guy is a little spitfire or a handful. This was an adult conversation.

Overall, I enjoyed this immensely and couldn't put it down for anything. My bladder was furious with me.

The next relationship is obvious because of course it's going to be the best friend with the one guy that was elsewhere when Keeton met the rest of the shifters in the house. I am looking forward to their story in the next book. This is a nice long series--ten books-- which is nice, but books four and five are both menage stories. I really dislike it when series I love branch off into that and two in a row is really frustrating. I have to read them to know what happens later in the series. Seriously, there are entire series devoted to menage couples. Why do I have to deal with them in my regular stories? It's as weird as if they suddenly put a BDSM story in the middle. (There is very light BDSM in this book done just in the bedroom.)

Compared with other books of this subgenre, this is a 4.5 and I'm rounding up because of the way the book handled the whole treating like a child thing.

"Oh, hell to the yes!" as it says in the book lol!
and I would have to agree. I love this book, it's funny, sexy, hot, a very enjoyable read.

Very good start to a new series by a new author! Braxton is adorable. Trying to get on with his life, but his ex won't leave him alone for some reason (find out later) and Xander is Mr. Tall, Dark, and Yummy, who wants to protect Braxton more than anything and claim him as his mate. They have a lot of things and problems to work thru.
Along with Xander's four very large, very muscled, and very gorgeous brothers and Braxton's very funny, kind, adorable and wildly flamboyant best friend Keeton makes's this is a wonderful read.

I can't wait until the next story in the series comes out in June
Which will be about Braxton's best friend Keeton's story. (can't wait)
"Keeton answered the door almost immediately after Braxton had knocked. He wore only a Superman thong, a pair of blue-and-yellow toe socks, and a gold tiara. He grinned devilishly at them."
lol! can't wait. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who likes shapeshifters.

I didn't really want to write a review, but all the others I've read about this book are positive and weren't really helpful when I was deciding if I should read it or not.

What I liked were those original bits and pieces. There is something in reading a shifter story which is exactly like all the others and then being surprised by unique details that make it special. I almost rated it with 4 stars because I liked some parts of the shifter history.

But the whole bad guy situation seriously got on my nerves. The story starts when Mason, Braxton's ex, pushes him in front of a car and almost kills him. Now, he could have said it was an accident or whatever, but there were witnesses and still nothing came of it. I kept expecting Braxton to press charges or something, but even when Mason almost strangles him in the hospital and Xander witnesses it, nothing happens. The story moves on and Xander and Braxton really hit it off, but Mason is still around, as is going to and out of Braxton's apartment as he pleases because he stole his keys, documents and cell phone. Even when the man beats Braxton and sets his place on fire, there is still not enough evidence to prove it was him. It was really annoying because I felt like an idiot who was expected to believe that story. The finalization was all but satisfying. No one would stalk a person for better part of the year just so that he could get a memory card.

The way the final fight played out didn't sit well with me either, so my rating for this kind of story is 3 stars.

If you like Stormy Glenn's shifter books you will probably like this one as well, because it's very similar and somewhat addicting. I'm very curious about the second book.

Love my shifters and having so many different kinds will make a great series. This was a really good start - Braxton and Xander are both adorable and beautiful together. I felt a little "oversexed" in this book but still really enjoyed it and look forward to the series.

This was exactly what I needed... Just a nice straight forward book with a little bit of action and a lot of hot naked man love. I could have done without the shampoo and body wash as lube though. :)

I loved Braxton and Xander. They fit so well together yet are very different. The fact that Braxton already knew about shifters actually helped in this book. It made it easier on him and his decisions. I have to say I was a little upset with how he handled things, but I could also see why he reacted that way. I found myself laughing out loud at times. I really enjoyed this read and it was a great start to the series.

What a solid beginning to a new series! Leap of Faith, the first in the Moonlight Breed series, is a m/m shifter love story bursting with love, humor and suspense. Using an old legend of shifters being tied to the phases of the moon, Gabrielle Evans puts her own twist to the phenomenon.
Leap of Faith is a great book. Read it. And then, like me, you’ll be waiting for the next book to be published

3.5 Stars ~ Oh am I glad I listened to my friend's advice and read Leap of Faith. What a wonderful, feel good brain candy story. I love the easiness about it with very little angst. It has totally hot shifters and really fun characters. I adored Braxton and Xander was just over the top with hotness.
It is a fun and relaxing read with a good story and I'm looking forward to reading some more in the series.

This one would be on the low end of 3 stars even though it was easy reading and I actually enjoyed it. Why? Because Braxton and Xander kept doing incredibly stupid crap....like the girl going into the dark basement to check out that weird sound in horror movies....yeah, like that! And their communication sucked on more than one occasion causing undue angst which seemed really silly. That aside, I'm going to continue with the series because it was a fun read.

I don't usually leave reviews but this is the first book I've read of Gabrielle Evans, so I thought I would comment. I loved Braxton and Xander if you like shifter stories this is a good read. I really liked Braxtons' friend Keeton so I was glad to see that his story is book 2 of this series (Moonlight Breed.

Sometimes you just need a story that makes you feel good. This is that story. I adore Braxton and his sweetness, and Xander and his overprotective side. They are two wonderful characters. This world that Evans has created is fun and imaginative. And the story is perfectly paced and exciting. It's relatively angst-free which, again, makes for a great light-hearted, feel good happily-ever-after.

Well it started out good. Had promise, but then again with the continuity problems, overly emotional girly men and a plot that doesn't add up. It's likable, but I suspect the author didn't read her story back or she would have noticed the errors.

Surprisingly fresh and non-tropey story, in spite of it using so many familiar shifter romance elements. I especially appreciated the equal footing and power balance between the MCs, and how dynamic their relationship was.

2.5 rounded up. This story, for the most part, did not work for me. There were just too many things that either didn’t make sense or felt wrong. I can’t even say I really liked the characters. I really really wanted to love Xander, but his constant flip-flopping from sweet and gentle to almost uncontrollable anger wore thin very quickly. Braxton, for all his smarts, was really kind of dense. While he should have been shocked about Xander being a shifter, he wasn’t, gecause his BFF, Keeton, comes from a shifter family. Yet, while there were things about shifters and mates he was trying to work through, there was never a conversation between Braxton and Keeton. Keeton and his family, who raised Braxton, should have been an obvious source for advice.
I didn’t care for this author’s take on shifters. The whole bit about the curse and the magic making people crazy if they see a cursed shifter shift, didn’t make sense to me and took away from the story.
And then there’s the crazy ex, Mason. There was just so much that was wrong with how this part of the plot was handled. It was clear early on that Mason was dangerous, yet Braxton always made excuses for not contacting the police. So it just build and builds, Braxton keeps getting hurt and nearly killed, and ultimately, Mason is dealt with, but because of the way the entire situation was handled, it doesn’t lead to any resolution to the horrible activities Mason was involved in.
I have not read anything else by this author and I wasn’t wowed by the writing at all. I think she could have made better use of pronouns or names instead of the overly repetitious “his mate.”

Let me start off by saying that I haven't read a "little red book" for years. For some strange reason, I find them comforting when I find a cause to read one. Maybe it comes from my "harlequin" days as a teenager first discovering romance novels. The formulas may change a bit from author to author, but the stories are always entertaining and give me my HEA!

Now let me say what I have said at least a thousand times when writing a review... COMMUNICATION! What a wonderful place this world would be if people would just get their heads out of their asses and talk to each other! I think most authors include this in the formula as a means of fiction reflecting reality.

As for Braxton and Xander? I knew they would eventually get things worked out (you remember the guaranteed HEA) but they sure did some stupid shit to get there! I was glad that Braxton had Keeton and that Xander has his "brothers". I noticed that Keeton's story is the next book and I look forward to reading it one of these days when I need a short, sweet comfort read... *grin*

Okay, typical fated mates (although Braxton despite being human apparently has some shifter blood in him). I liked that Braxton had an interesting job that actually made money given he sold his graphic novel to a gaming company. But he just kept saying he could handle his ex and despite the guy hurting him more than once, just kept on thinking it was fine and he could handle it. Duh.

I never REALLY understood why the ex wanted to kidnap Braxton (at the end, at the house he was willing to kill him). I got what the ex was looking for and why, but that was kind of tossed in and it was maybe covered in future volumes? Not sure that story line continues but I was left wanting it wrapped up a bit more clearly but

So it was fine. Again, kind of light read that didn't require a lot of brain-power and that suited me just fine. I got this as a give-away, I think "first in a series" so we'll see if I follow up. His friend Keeton is the kind of flamboyant character I like, so maybe. (Too many books already)

This review is for the updated version published in 2023 (approx 300 pages). 2.5 stars, rounded up because tiger shifter and protective, possessive alpha male ✅️. (Mostly because I'm feeling lenient as fuck.)

This book moves at lightspeed. Instalove, instalust, instamates, insta everything. It's cute in a way, and the sex is okay (not spectacular), but there isn't much substance to it. The plot is very simplistic, details are few and far between. It's an extremely light read. At least it's dual POV.

There are weird things, like why their group is called a "pack" when it seems they have a lot of big cats rather than wolves (why not a pride?).

It's not bad, but it's not memorable. I've read a lot worse (see my 1-star shitfest shelf 🤣).

A Leap

This book is about a tiger shifter, Xander, and a human, Braxton. Braxton’s ex is stalking him and that is how he and Xander meet. Braxton is trying to get away from the ex and steps in front of Xander’s truck. The two men are attracted to each other but Xander is nervous about telling Braxton the truth about him. The so men grow closer to each other as Xander helps Braxton deal with his ex. But the two men need to stop being so stubborn and learn how to better communicate with each other.
I did enjoy the book however the author needs to update or remove the use of the word “clean” for being disease free. The author wrote that they are still revising the book. I hope this is one of them.

Xander and Braxton meet when Braxton almost gets hit by Xander car after Braxton and his ex were fighting. They meet, and Xander immediately recognizes Braxton as his mate. The story is about them getting to know each other while dealing with Braxton's crazy ex. This story was cute but had a lot of miscommunication - not one of my favorite tropes - which was resolved fairly quickly. Spice level: 3

Not only is this book really badly written, but also it does not have trigger warnings that it DEFINITELY should have, including an abusive ex being abusive, physically assaulting the MC and also having taking pictures and videos of his without his consent and being part of a S*X TRAFFICKING NETWORK.

No thanks
