”Identity Theft” starts with Batman leaping through a graveyard in the rain. He grabs a shovel lying around and starts digging under a headstone. Robin is with him.

Great art here!

”What…what is that?”
”It’s a leg.”

At Arkham Asylum Batman talks to the Riddler about a poem he sent to Comissioner Gordon. The Riddler doesn’t seem to know anything about it. Apparently someone is copying Riddler’s schtick.

I think there might be a problem with the nurses at Arkham all being so cute…

It turns out that someone else just escaped from Arkham. Someone named Kim.

Cool! I think this might be a repeat villain from a previous book!

Later it seems that a reporter asking some rather rude questions of the Riddler about the copycat criminal gets herself kidnapped and the Riddler escapes.

Deciphering a clue, Batman & Robin go to a shut-down theater. Soon after they arrive the theater explodes.

Elsewhere the Riddler finds Kim in the exact same hide-out he had before.

”Dude, this place is rent-controlled. Do you know how hard it is to find a place this great in Gotham?”

Riddler attacks until he forces Kim to explain his riddle methodology. It’s artful, elaborate, complicated and it has no ending.

The two have a heated philosophical argument. In the middle of which, Batman & Robin show up.

”We’ve just been waiting for the two of you to finish.”

That was really fun. Kim is a fantastic villain that I hope we see again.

They also manage to do this ‘fake Bruce Timm’ art better than any of the other books in these types of comics. They just add great dynamics to it I really like. Levins and Beatty again.

5 stars, sure it’s a little bit self-reflective but laughed out loud.
