It’s us against the world, and I will forever protect him, just like he protects me.

I LOVE THEM SO MUCH.

this book is nowhere near perfect. i was surprised on the very little detail we got about how the band became famous so quick and it seemed a bit unrealistic. there was no in depth explaining on their song writing, performing, recording etc... which sucked bc that's what i love about reading rockstar romances. but i loved the characters so much and the message behind this book that it really didn't matter to me. i saw this book as a band of boys discovering their love for music, but more importantly i saw it as these characters finding their journey to freedom, to being who they truly are (especially harley 🥺). it's also about feeling true unconditional love for the first time and finding a found family.

it was very easy to ignore my niggles because this book had so many things i adored.

⇢ ezra is in a relationship with a girl in the beginning so i was a little nervous about how that was going to be dealt with. but everything ended on a great note, there was no cheating and they even remained really good friends afterwards, which was refreshing. she was also super supportive towards ezra/harley.

⇢ erza's sexual awakening. this man has the purest loving soul ever. he was so understanding, accepting, compassionate, considerate, so many things...😭 right away he started feeling something for harley, he had a little confusion at first but quickly accepted his attraction towards harley. he didn't really label himself, he just knew he loved harley and that's all that mattered to him. and i fucking loved that. 🩷

“This seems backwards. I’m the gay one, shouldn’t I be comforting you and helping you feel ready to come out?”
He laughs and shakes his head. “Maybe a little backwards in the traditional sense. But this is different. I recognize that I am fortunate enough to know what unconditional love and support is. And I’m going to help you see that you have it now too. I’m not naïve enough to think your past doesn’t continue to affect you, I know it takes time. And I’m here for the ride.”
Seriously. Is he real?
“Thank you,” I say quietly.

HARLEY. he was such a relatable character. he was so so broken and sad. i just wanted to wrap him into a big warm hug. he looks like a bad boy on the outside with his tattoos and the way he dresses but he's the furthest from it. his mom died when he was 7, and his dad is a homophobic asshole who abused him. so he saved up enough money so he could leave his dad, and now he's working at a guitar shop where he eventually finds his way to ezra, ollie, and callum. harley's first song is called Silhouette and it's about yearning for a love you can't have and how he finds that love with ezra? my heart could not take it. harley deserves the world. they have such a pure, innocent love. this book is far from innocent, there is some very steamy scenes but their love was so genuine and they are so in tune with each other that they could always tell when the other needed comforting. if that isn't love, idk what is.

He is everything I have always been searching for. I feel a sense of belonging with him, and he makes me feel like I matter more than anything else. It’s an unreal feeling, and I can’t believe he’s mine.

pls they made me weep. honourable mention here: harley wrote the pronouns in his song Silhouette as he/him and the whole band was okay with keeping them as that if harley wanted. 😭

⇢ i need to talk about the found family bc this:

Ezra stands and makes his way over to us. “I think us as a band, and a family, is what’s important. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t need to be signed to know we have that.”
“Exactly,” Callum agrees.
Ollie nods vigorously. “Absolutely.”

ollie and callum are the most supportive and accepting characters ever. they are about to be signed to a huge record label and make millions of dollars, but they would throw it away for each other if they had to. plus the other side characters, lulu, hannah, enza's family, and harley's coworkers from the guitar shop were amazing. found family is pretty much just as crucial to me as the romance in rockstar romances and this book had it in spades. plus the way ezra's parents took harley in as their own? i cried for him.

⇢ HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION HEALTHY COMMUNICATION. no stupid misunderstandings. enough said about that.

what to expect:
💙 rockstar x rockstar
🩵 found family
🤍 praise kink & "good boy"
💙 bi-awakening
🩵 soulmates
🤍 some angst
💙 hurt/comfort
🩵 soft boys
🤍 mental health

note: this does end on a cliffhanger but doesn't leave you on a horrible one. you'll definitely want to be reading the next one though. there is a tw for unprotected sex. they don't talk about condoms, sti/std testing or anything like that. i know that bothers some people so i thought i'd mention it. if you enjoy the tropes above and beware....there is some tell rather than show with regards to band's rise in fame (personally it was easy to ignore bc i loved everything else) so if you can get past that, you'll enjoy this!

⚡️ fav quotes/moments + major spoilers! ⚡️

“You are incredible, and I want the world to see just how amazing you are. And then I want to tell them you’re mine.”

I could never bring myself show to anyone. But this is Ezra. I love him. I trust him. I can be completely myself around him. I can expose even my deepest fears and he would never judge me.

He turns his head to look at me, and gives me a sad smile. “Hi, baby.” I wrap an arm around him and bury my face into his chest, breathing him in. “I love you.” He squeezes me tight. “I love you, too. More than anything.”

this moment, iykyk. okay i need to talk about the cliffhanger. i knew that was coming but it still broke me. my heart shattered for harley. him finally getting to express himself and be who he wanted but then it got ripped from him. i want to hunt down their record label fr. i am so mad. how could they do that to them??? that was so cruel. it wasn't a horrible cliffhanger bc harley and ezra are still together and they are stronger than ever imo. but i feel their love is def going to be tested in the next book bc they have to keep it as a secret or shit will go down. i'm really scared because i just love them so much and i want them together forever. if they ever consider breaking up i will not be able to handle that. 💔

“Because being with you is more important than anything else,” he says. “You are all that matters to me. This is a price I am willing to pay to have you.” I see the glimmer return to his eyes as he smiles at me. “You’re it, Harley. I’m in, one hundred percent. We can make this work. If for right now, we have to keep our love private, we will. You are not alone behind those doors anymore. But we will never stop working on being free. Together.” MY FUCKING HEART 😭

On Monday, we begin recording what we have written for the album so far. But right now, it’s Saturday morning and Ezra is sleeping in my arms in bed. There’s nowhere else I want to be. how harley would always pick ezra over anything >>>>

“This bad boy has found himself a good boy.” all the "good boy" and dirty talk really got me 🥵🥵

“First of all,” Ollie says, standing up and pointing a finger at me. “Fuck your dad.” He walks over to Callum and I, holding up a second finger. “Second of all, fuck anyone who doesn’t like who you are. We do, and that’s all that matters because we’re fucking awesome. Third of all, your dad can’t touch you. We got your back, he can’t do anything anymore.”

“What are you worried about?” he asks as he brings his hand softly down along my arm.
...

“How much I like you,” I say quietly.”

The blurb and cover of Silhouette were definitely two points that made me cautiously excited to give it a shot. The potential for it being a really interesting story was there - it just didn't deliver for me.

But, I think, what set off me right from the beginning was reading the Author's Note that was featured at the start of the book. It's ironic - just a few reads back, I complained that if the Author's Note had been included in the beginning, I could have appreciated the story more. In this case, however, I wish I had avoided it, because it just a unpleasant taste in my mind.

There also was a serious lack of detail towards their musical careers. We are just told in words about how Send Help's career is sky-rocketing, how their climb to fame is out-of-this world and their music is hitting the peak of all the charts. Yet, we don't get any details into their recording sessions, none whatsoever into their practices, no moments of simply sitting together and writing a potential song together! Nothing! This is a severe case of just telling rather than showing.

Not even any highlights to them on stage, taking in the thrill of the audience, the anticipating jitters before getting ready to perform, the heat of the stage lights - zilch! It's in and out. Just music labels being in awe of them and lining up to promote them, sign contracts and they're out the door! Uhh, aren't they still in college? Won't this affect their studies?? 😕 How did they already shoot up to such star level, when I'm not seeing anything remotely appealing about them as a group? We're just told that they are being rushed here and there - never being shown in detail what it takes to be the rising stars that they are. I kept waiting for some light to be shed on that part of their lives, but... 😔

Sadly, and this pains me to say, but the only part of the story that probably got the most attention were the sex scenes. And those even to me, didn't translate very well off page. There --- there was something about how they were written that felt too clinical, too surface-level, and described almost-like it was a step-by-step process. 😮‍💨😮‍💨 Maybe I'm being too critical, but if there isn't even any emotional reaction from the reader to the couple's apparent intimacy, then 'Houston, we have a problem'.

But, if we are to disregard that there is not going to be any focus on the musical input into the group, rather solely focusing on how the music industry is going to impact their personal lives, instead, then, fine - I'll bite. After all, it's only the first book, maybe the second one will surprise me. I appreciated that the hints to their relationship being an issue for their management were subtly laid out, but again. 💔💔 There's so many issues with how fast, Send Help is moving as a group, without any legitimate discussions beforehand, that it's gonna be a setup for potential problems.

anigif

And yet, you're probably thinking, 'Amina, you're being so harsh, isn't there anything nice you can say?' Oh, did I not cover that already?? 🙂

“A million thoughts are racing through my head. Yes,I’m ok, I’ve been wanting this ever since I first laid eyes on him. And no, I’m not ok, because I’ve never been with a guy before, and I have no idea what I am doing. Kissing is one thing, but I’m suddenly very aware that I am way out of my depth here.”

Harley and Ezra had an instant attraction to each other, but there was no instant action towards each other. 😆 Rather, in the slow process of getting to know one another, as Ezra steadily realized that despite being only attracted to girls all this time, he was feeling something a little more for Harley, they finally did act upon their feelings in a natural, very honest and open manner without any false pretenses.

And they were cute together - a little too perfect together, actually. But, I suppose, it works well that this first part was very low-angst, considering the storm that is brewing on the horizon at the end of this one. Harley comes from a really traumatized past - Ezra has the perfectly ideal one. They're the ideal match. Harley has the experience - Ezra has the desire to learn more. They bring out the best in each other. 🤍🤍🤍 Harley feels a lot - it's difficult for him to entirely forget how much hurt he has had to endure to get to where he is. There's a lot of pain in his heart, but Ezra - kind, understanding Ezra, who saw something special and different in this beautiful soft-spoken man - chose to be by his side to help in any way which way he could. 🥰

“Ezra has brought me more joy than I ever thought I could have in my life, and I am learning to accept love from others as well. It’s an overwhelming feeling, to be accepted and appreciated
for being exactly who I am.”

Ollie and Callum, the other two members of Send Help were also great - very supportive, accepting, and overall, such lovable guys with overwhelming bubbling energy that it made it nearly impossible not to like them! 😄 Especially, when there are people who are still out there who won't be as understanding and willing to acknowledge the two of them as a couple, especially when they're going to be in the spotlight for the next four years. Yes, four years...

“I look at each of them and feel an intense swell of pride. These guys are my family. And they accept me for everything that I am.”

In the end, it wasn't time badly spent, just my overall disregard for the writing style. I am cautiously hopeful, it can improve in the second book, but I shouldn't get my hopes up too much. 😞

“Apparently we’re just two clueless idiots.”

He smiles and wraps his arms around me. “At least we can be idiots together.”

Silhouette is the first entry in the Songs of Freedom Trilogy and follows the newly formed band, Send Help and the relationship between bandmates Harley and Ezra. I really loved the relationship between Harley and Ezra. Their initial attraction is so intimate, instant, and utterly sweet. They are both really surprised at their mutual attraction and its potential consequences.

Another winning aspect of their relationship is how different in life experiences and personalities Harley and Ezra are. Ezra is a friendly person who has a great family and circle of friends. Harley on the other hand had a heartbreaking upbringing filled with loss and abuse. Together they really allow the other to grow and learn from the other.

The musical and band aspect of this story is also very strong. I loved how well-formed the relationships between all the bandmates are. All members have such distinct personalities, making their chemistry truly feel real and collaborative. Also, Ollie is quite hilarious making for many ridiculous moments that help balance out the heavier moments in the story.

This was a great first entry in this series and a fantastic debut. The HFN ending was not a surprise given the nature of the music business, I hope Harley and Ezra, with the support of everyone, find a way to persevere regardless of the consequences.

Harley and Ezra are too cute!

I do feel like a lot of this book was quite far fetched, but I really like the relationships between the band members and also with Ezra's family.

I could see the villains and their fucked up ideology coming a mile off, but the story still drew me in and I really hope the fuckwits get their comeuppance.

I'm definitely excited to keep reading this series and finding out more about Harley and Ezra.

Second read through: wow!! I forgot how much I loved Ezra and Harley!! This story is so amazing, especially for a debut! If you’re a fan of hurt/comfort and rockstars (without the random sex, drugs and alcohol addictions) then I highly recommend!

This is another fantastic release from a new author! I don’t tend to read a lot of rockstar books but this one captured my interest from the blurb and held it through every single word! Harley and Ezra are the sweetest couple and were absolutely made for each other!

This book was fairly low-angst between the two MCs but does have angst outside of the relationship. I actually really enjoyed that as things went really well for them (for the most part) and it was wonderful to read so many happy scenes with them. Even though things mostly fell into place easily it was not the least bit boring, nor did I feel like anything was missing from the story.

Ezra starts off the book in a relationship with a woman and I was a bit worried about how it would play out for him to end up with Harley. I was extremely happy with the way the author handled this situation and it made perfect sense!

Almost every single side character in this book was amazing whether it was the other band mates, Harley’s best friend, Ezra’s family and the list just goes on. They were all such fun and well thought out side characters that they really added so much to the story.

Note this book does end on a cliffhanger. This is a trilogy following the same couple. Their story is not finished however, it’s a soft cliffhanger. There’s conflict and it’s not settled but it’s not a crazy “I can’t believe the book ended like that” cliffhanger. I am waiting oh so “patiently” for book 2 though because their story was amazing and I want to keep reading about them!

Make sure to check out this authors Instagram to download the bonus scenes. We get a fun scene from a side character and a bonus scene from the MCs that both had me cracking up.

I absolutely urge everyone to check this book out and hope you love it as much as I did!

I really enjoyed this book, even if the writing is maybe not the best, the story was so compelling that I couldn’t stop reading.

Harley was a very sad, lonely boy, and Ezra everything he didn’t know he needed. Together with Callum and Ollie they randomly form a band that changed everything for them.

I loved their friendship at the beginning as well as their relationship, it was just so lovely and cute. Callum and Ollie were also amazing friends and I loved their Burn Hot moto.

Also, props to the author for writing nice and friendly female characters!

ARC REVIEW:

For a first novel by this author I must say I really enjoyed it!

I really loved Harley and Ezra! 🥰

For Ezra, it's the first time he's felt attraction for a guy, and I have to say that his story was shown in a way that was both very realistic and completely charming.

Harley is a very sensitive and anxious person with a rough past and I totally appreciated the ease with which Ezra always managed to calm him down and make him feel safe…

I think we would all want to have an Ezra in our lives! 😊

And they were so sweet with each others… Really beautiful to see! 💜

Now I have to talk about something that disappointed me and that's the fact that they never talked about wearing a condom or even if they were clean before just deciding not to wear one. It surprised me because, apart from that, they've always communicated really well together.

And I mustn't forget to talk about the side characters because they were all wonderful… I could name my favourites but I'd end up naming almost all of them! 😅

But to sum up, I really liked it and can't wait to read more…

Favourite quotes:

"Maybe a little backwards in the traditional sense. But this is different. I recognize that I am fortunate enough to know what unconditional love and support is. And I'm going to help you see that you have it now too. I'm not naive enough to think your past doesn't continue to affect you, I know it takes time. And I'm here for the ride."

How is he mine? I am so grateful for him. I know I'm not easy to be with, and it means so much to me that he's patient and can see beyond the scars.

"That was for both of us." And he laughs his beautiful laugh. "But, this confidence and strength in you, that you show me when it's just the two of us? I'm going to to help you show that to the world, too. I want everyone to see how beautiful you are, inside and out."

This was a sweet and loving book. Harley and Ezra story gives you all the feels without a lot of drama. I love a rock star romance and I enjoyed the flow of this story and the additional characters really brought it all together.

A great story for any MM rock star romance lovers out there who also enjoy a bi awakening in the mix (which 8 always love) looking forward to more from this author.

To debiut. I to niestety widać.

Czytałam te sceny, miałam przed oczami te w następnej serii, pomimo tego, iż w MMA chłopaki zdecydowanie były bardziej szorstkie i ostre w stosunku do siebie

Silhouette is an MM Rockstar Romance and I was here for all of it. I absolutely loved every character in the story, the side characters were fab; especially Ollie 😂

Harley has been treated horribly & abused by his father. He's taught to hide who he is in all ways. That trauma leads to substantial anxiety, feelings of being unworthy, and unloved.
Trying to find himself, Harley has moved to a new area, got a new job, new friends, and now joined these friends in becoming a band. It hasn't been easy. The one friend and bandmate, Ezra is not only gorgeous in Harley's eyes, he's the only one who can calm him, ground him.

As Harley fights for freedom in many areas of his life, the band's fame is growing. The pressure is real and everything is happening so fast. Harley is taught that everything is a losing battle so what's going to be the price of fame?

Ezra & Harley's connection is so loving and sweet but steamy as hell. I love that Harley's dominance shines through in those smexy moments with Ez.

Silhouette is the first book in the series. It ends pretty satisfyingly with somewhat of an HFN. Some things were a bit repetitive but those kinks can be worked out. I'm definitely looking forward to Book 2!! I'm not sure if this is Eve Holmes' debut book, but regardless, Bravo! I'm hooked! 👏👏

Silhouette is the first book in the Songs of Freedom series by Eve Holmes. It is the author’s first book and I adored it!

Every main character were so endearing and I immediately connected with them. Harley is such a sweet guy who was dealt a bad hand since a very young age. He is trying to start over and chase his freedom in a new town where he meets this great group of friends who welcome him with open harms. I felt for him so much with his anxiety and insecurities. Even though physically he looks like your typical “bad boy”, he is everything but. He is kind, reserved and just wants acceptance. I’m sorry, I’m ranting about him, but I love him so much ☺️.

Ezra had never been attracted to a man in his life, so we navigated his bi-awakening with him in the beginning of the book. He was quite confused, but also didn’t want to miss out on a great relationship by letting his fears guide him. I loved how he was always by Harley’s corner, guiding him back when he was plagued by his anxiety. They truly made a sweet couple and I NEED the rest of the story. Please do not make me wait too long Eve 😩…

He always tells me I’m strong, but the strength I have been finding in myself is coming from him.

Ollie and Callum were GREAT! They were accepting, supportive and just great friends to Harley and Ezra. I hope we see a lot of them in the next books (and maybe they’ll even get their own stories 🤔🤞🏼). Ezra’s family, Lulu and Hannah were great characters as well!

I look at each of them and feel an intense swell of pride. These guys are my family. And they accept me for everything that I am.

Ezra was originally with a girlfriend of a year, and I have to say I loved how they ended their relationship on a very mature note. There was no unnecessary drama and it was refreshing.

On a little side note, I think the author should have discussed protection during Ezra and Harley’s first time together. It wasn’t mentioned at all and I think it’s an important subject in these books.

**I received an advanced copy of this book and these are my honest thoughts**

Silhouette by Eve Holmes is book 1 in the Song of Freedom series.

When I saw Silhouette's blurb and tropes, I was irresistibly drawn in, as it was exactly what I was in the mood for (rockstar, bi-awakening). However, I was wondering if it would be a worthwhile gamble to take a chance on the debut novel of Eve Holmes. The answer is yes, it was a risk more than worth taking.

I loved Eve Holmes' writing and literally fell in love with her characters. The dynamic between Ollie, Callum, Ezra and Harley was perfect. I loved seeing them become friends and always being able to rely on each other. Ezra and Harley...these two guys together made me melt. They took me back to my early twenties when I had a crush and I was totally consumed by it. There was something really nostalgic for me about the way their infatuation for each other evolved.

Harley, our poor broken boy. He's been through so much and seeing him so scarred by what he experienced broke my heart. Ezra was exactly what he needed to calm and anchor him. He was the one who stole my heart with his confidence and kind nature. They were truly perfect for each other and my heart squeezed more than once at their display of affection. They were so sweet.

The only little thing that bothered me slightly was the fact that they didn't use condoms and no safe sex discussion took place. This would have made so much more sense, since the communication between the two MCs was excellent. Sometimes I can overlooked something like that when the setting is darker, but in Silhouette, it just felt out of place.

The author mentions that the book ends on a cliffhanger in her author's note at the beginning. Personally, I didn't mind, since it doesn't end on anything shocking, but the story is definitely not over and will continue in book 2, due out in summer 2023. Thank goodness we won't have to wait too long for that!

Really liked this one😭 they had just great chemistry and it was perfectly in between cute and spicy. I found description of a person living with anxiety really realistic and it kind of got to me. Ezra is an angel person, who somehow knows how to be with someone with anxiety perfectly. This initial phase of the them being young college kids to being famous was very fun to read.

Silhouette is the first book in Songs of Freedom trilogy. It's the journey of Ezra and Harley and their newly formed band Send Help.

I am so invested in Ezra and Harley and my heart breaks for what Harley has been through. Just when he starts living his best life and all his dreams come true......... (not going to spoil it)

Callum and Ollie, the other band members, were great side characters. Very supportive and overall loveable!! I quite often wonder if they will get a story too.

"What am I doing? Am I seriously sitting here checking this dude out? It’s like I’m attracted to him. …Am I? I mean, there’s nothing wrong with appreciating the beauty of another person. I’m not into guys, so I guess it’s harmless. Right? I shake off these questions rattling about in my head, not wanting to go there right now."

Silhouette is the cracking debut novel by new author Eve Holmes. It's the first in a trilogy, so be warned from the get-go that this one does end on a cliffhanger. This is a love story between Harley and Ezra, who meet whilst at college and are founders members of a new rockband with two friends Ollie and Callum, called Send Help.

Harley has had trauma in his early life and has made a new start in a new town. He's gay, but not out. Ezra has a long-term girlfriend and a feeling of restlessness but has never looked at another guy romantically - until Harley. Their slow burn romance is gorgeous.

"A million thoughts are racing through my head. Yes, I’m ok, I’ve been wanting this ever since I first laid eyes on him. And no, I’m not ok, because I’ve never been with a guy before, and I have no idea what I am doing. Kissing is one thing, but I’m suddenly very aware that I am way out of my depth here."

Once Send Help hits the big time, things start to change in all their lives and the boys' story will continue in Songs of Freedom book 2, due out summer 2023.

I love Ezra and Harley and how their relationship developed. While this book had a slight cliffhanger, it was a hopeful cliffhanger. And let me just say I hate William, he’s the worst. I can’t wait for to see how Harley, Ezra, Ollie and Callum handle the events that took place at the end of this book in book 2!

4.25 You guys, we’re starting a band! Squee! We’re starting from scratch here folks, four guys meeting in a garage and forming a band. We typically see the aging rock star or the already internationally famous band, so this is a lovely treat to start the story from the inception.

College aged characters with everyone “vibing”, “sick” and “legit”. Made me laugh.

I read a review and I was immediately on board when it said “us-against-the-world”, which is my absolutely favorite trope of all time.

When we meet Harley, he’s separating from a small town mentality and getting the opportunity to be his true self in a bigger city, vulnerable and uncertain as he tries to find his way in the world. When we meet Ezra, he’s dating a girl. Ugh.

Three book series. In the forward, the author warns of cliffhangers, but all three books in the series are already out. Lots of my favorite things, lovely supportive gal pal, supportive friends/co-workers, drama outside of the relationship.

First person, dual POV with the chapters labeled (love that!).

College aged, music, contemporary, series, m/m, cliffhanger, HFN, bi-awakening, high spice.

I do have a small quibble with the dialogue, it’s a me-thing. There is quite a bit of inner thought and dialogue between a question and an answer. To the point where an answer is given and I had completely forgotten what the question even was. I so wish someone would do a quick edit on this lovely story, there are so many missing words, how does that even happen?

I am always craving a good rockstar romance and this one was really good.

I liked that we follow the four bandmates as they start their road to fame. I liked to see the huge change in their life and how they became famous.

The love story was really cute.
It was a really good book and I immediatly bought the other two books to continue the series.

Thank you Eve for sending me the eARC

5🌟 3🌶️

I absolutely loved this book! This is a debut novel and it did not disappoint. This follows Harley and Ezra who are band mates. I really loved that this book follows the band as they are just beginning.

Harley and Ezra both as characters and their relationship are so wholesome. This book had the perfect about of plot, romance, and spice. It had me smiling and swooning the entire time. The side characters, Ollie, Callum, Hannah, LuLu, and Ezra’s parents were so amazing and supportive. This is book 1 of a trilogy that follows Ez and Harley, so it does leave off on a small cliffhanger. i’m so excited for the next book because I need more of Ezra and Harley 🫶🏼

'Why was I so into him? I’m not just drawn to anyone the way I am to him. It’s deeper than just attraction, it’s an intense pull. I want to know everything about him. I feel excitement when his eyes land on me, and fireworks when he smiles in my direction.'

I was lucky enough to recently read an ARC of Silhouette, the upcoming debut release from Eve Holmes, and I'm so pleased I did because it was truly wonderful.

The MM rockstar romance is book one in the Songs of Freedom series and I'm already impatiently waiting for the next instalment!

We have Harley Scott, a beautiful soul, who is so talented and a really great guy, but who has been emotionally and physically beaten down by his father (discussed, but events are off-page), so much so that he suffers from severe anxiety.

When Harley moves to Ithaca for a new life, he meets Callum, Ollie and Ezra, and their love of music sees them form a band, Send Help, which quickly blows up.

From the beginning, Harley and Ezra share a spark. This is a bi-awakening for Ezra, who begins the book with a girlfriend, though there's no cheating. I loved Ezra's easy acceptance of his feelings for Harley. They are drawn to each other right from their first meeting.

'My heart skips when I see him looking back at me. There’s something in his eyes that I can’t place, and I want to lose myself in the depths of his gaze.'

Ezra and Harley are everything together! I love how a goofy smile or thumbs up, or a knee touch from Ezra can ease Harley's anxiety. The mental health struggles were well dealt with here.

Ezra is loving and caring, and Harley meanwhile is a mini Dom, with his 'Good boys' and sexy orders, which make these two turn up the heat! 🥵🔥

“Such a good boy,” I say in a low voice, knowing it will drive him wild. And it does. His body shudders beneath my touch and he groans loudly, keeping his pace as he rides closer and closer towards the edge.

These two guys have my heart. Beware, because this is a trilogy for them, so I'm crossing my fingers that their road ahead isn't too bumpy. Book one ends on a HFN, but with an impending sense of unease, as a long, difficult journey lies ahead for them.

Honestly, without spoilers, I raged at the people involved in certain circumstances for these two precious boys at the end of the book. Ugh, I was ready to go to war for them, whilst also wrapping them up in a hug and protecting them both 🥺😍🥰❤️

Callum is the father of the band. He's the responsible one, the organiser and observer.

And Ollie? OMG, what can I say about Ollie? I freaking LOVE him!!! He's so funny and adorable... He's a puppy on steroids! He gets the freaking zoomies!! 🤣🤣

'“Sometimes I run too fast when I’m excited.” Oh my god. He gets the zoomies.'

But when all is said and done, each guy in Send Help is 100% there for each other. Callum and Ollie are so supportive of Harley and Ezra, and they are prepared to do anything to help them.

I'm so ready for more! 🎸🎵💜

Thank you so much. Eve, for the opportunity to ARC read Silhouette.

Silhouette is a wonderful debut novel by Eve Holmes and an amazing start to Songs of Freedom books. All three books will follow Harley and Ezra during their musical journey and relationship. I fell in love with this whole cast of characters from the guys in the band Harley, Ezra, Callum, and Ollie to the friends and family who support them. Eve did an amazing job navigating the path to Harley and Ezra getting together. The found family vibes are definitely strong, and I absolutely loved how the guys become friends, then band but end up being family. The love and support they have for each other is so sweet and strong, which definitely makes a big difference in how these guys are able to deal with everything that comes along with becoming rising rockstars. Ezra and Harley have amazing chemistry together, and it also comes through while their writing songs. I just want to wrap Harley up and give him all the hugs because he doesn't have the best home life. But Ezra is perfect for him and shows him that he deserves to be loved.

This book does end with a little of a cliffhanger, but it didn't make me want to throw my Kindle, so that's a good sign, right? I will be patiently waiting for the next book. Or I will try. I can't wait to see what is next for Harley, Ezra, and the rest of the band.

I received an advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I fell in love with Harley and Ezra as soon as these 2 met! The sexual tension was off the charts! The glances, the eyes traveling over the others body. Yes, I was hooked.

With all that said these two are so much more. Ezra's acceptance of his sexuality, which did come as surprise, showed Harley it's ok put yourself out there and be proud of who are you are no matter what others think.

From the outside of their relationship Ezra appears to be the in control, knows what he's doing, strong one. The reality is behind closed doors Harley's strong, take charge, confidence, which rarely shows shines bright.

Harley's anxiety and life trauma rears it's ugly head throughout this story but the found family in this book is off the charts and his support throughout just gives you all the feels. This book is about living your truth and when you have the right support people, that found family, you are truly allowed breath in their acceptance and be yourself.

Also the chemistry these two have on page

I’ve read a LOT of MM romance books.
I loved a lot of them. And i really loved a few of them.

But this series had me consumed from the first chapter.
If i could give 10 stars. I would!

Eve’s writing style is so good, the characters are well developed..
you get sucked in from page one, and don’t want to put it down.

This Lovestory is so beautifully written.
It has you wanting to know what’s gonna happen next, you feel for Harley and Ezra. The way their relationship develops into something so strong in a short period of time.

The friendship and support those 4 friends have for eachother.

The ending is a bit of a cliffhanger but Eve Promised us an HEA..

So i started ‘Details’ whitin a minute after finishing this one.

I would, and i will, recommend this books to everyone who wants to hear ( and who doesn’t want to hear) I don’t care.. more people need to read this masterpiece!!

**3.5-4 stars** Already like this book more than the second (which I’m currently reading). A bit more angst and understanding of the characters in this one

Although I was skeptical how the dynamic between Harley and Ezra was going, I started loving it. Ezra being that rock for Harley in front the world but letting Harley be that for him indoors is HOT

I love rock star stories that let you be there right from the start, watching various band members try to gel, their struggle to get gigs, and hopefully their eventual rise to stardom. But here I found it hard to suspend disbelief that a band who barely knew each other and literally practiced together for only 3 weeks was signed to one of the biggest record labels in the country. And like a week later after their first single was released it almost immediately hit number 1 on the charts, prompting an international tour. With deluxe accommodations and a security detail to protect them from their hoards of fans.

I loved all of the characters. They were loving and supportive and had great personalities. But I didn't appreciate knowing ahead of time about the author's plan for some of the side characters to have m/f and reverse harem stories. We didn't even know the characters at that point and it detracted from my enjoyment of what I thought would be an m/m series.

Ezra and Harley were a great couple but everything was a little too perfect in how they came together. From day 1 they were smitten and there was absolutely zero conflict with the ex-girlfriend or any family members. I guess I prefer a little more angst in my stories. It was also disappointing that there was so much telling going on and very little showing. Their internal monologues were basically narrating their feelings without showing how they got there and recapping activities that should have been shared instead.

I also felt like the sex scenes were too plentiful, long and a little repetitive in the descriptions. It was almost like we were reading step-by-step instructions from a gay sex manual. I didn't see the point of adding them after every band meeting or activity except to show Ezra's progress in trying new things in his sex life.

Finally, I think the book needed another go around with a good editor. There were a lot of grammatical errors that took me out of the story and some of the internal repetitive ramblings by Harley of why he thought he didn't deserve to be loved could have possibly been cut out.

I do like these characters and am interested to see if there will be any true conflict in book 2 with the record label over Harley and Ezra’s relationship so I'll probably give it a try :)
