So many names, yet none of them fit me. No one knows who or what I am–and neither do I. But with far more going on in Silver City than I ever imagined, now is the time to figure it out.
Angels are fickle creatures, though, so finding the missing pieces to this puzzle is proving to be more difficult than I thought.
With a holiday on the horizon and the enemy making unexpected moves, can Raphael, Theo, Zeke, and I work together to discover the truth?
Or will the secrets we unearth only wind up torturing us instead?

Please Note: Wings of Torment is book two in the Silver City University series and ends on a cliffhanger. Recommended for readers 18+
The ending in the 1st book made you wonder and want to come back to read this book here... now that I am fully invested in this series, I have to read book 3 .. which let's be honest.. is no hardship because this book is amazing. It's a slow-burn book, but there is so much action that it's not fully about the romance... but believe me, when Victoria adds some of those smutty romance details in,.. it's great!!
Finally, book two is here! And while I have been waiting patiently for this, I devoured this and more. The author then decides to leave us with a cliffhanger that might possibly change everything.
Book two starts right where book one ended! Hayliel has gold wings and killed off the rest of the demons in the area. What!?
With Ezekiel, Theo and Raphael all having her back, they are determined to find answers for what gold wings mean. Unfortunately, they keep coming up empty handed. But what prompted the demon attack in the first place? It seems there is an uprising happening both with Angels and Demons, but what is it for? And what is Hayliel?
The author did a marvelous job at expanding on the characters growth and promoting this awkward love affair they have going on (which was slow, steamy and delicious), but we are still nowhere further than we were after book one. I need answers. This book only brings more questions and while I loved everything about it, I want more. I have a feeling the Guild may even be keeping them in the dark with more than they think. And still, what is happening to Hayliel, is it good or bad or something remarkable?
And then that ending. That ending!!! I cannot wait to see how Hayliel comes back and shows everyone how strong she is and what she is capable of. I do love how the author is bringing her character along and really showing us all the depth, she can entwine. I am looking forward to more everything in book three! I can't wait.
"Dead little angels don't have power. do they?"
*Overall 4/5 *Heat? 4/5 *Med/Slow Burn *Multiple first person POV *Ends on cliffhanger
This book definitely had a lot of world building and character development. I loved how pieces fit together that I didn't see coming and even though the cliffhanger has me dangling I can't wait to see where book 3 takes the story!
Wings of Torment is finally here! I've been looking forward to the Wings of Deception's follow-up since its dramatic ending.
This book was freaking awesome! Things between Hayles and the guys are steaming up, even Zeke has stopped frustrating me (although that took way too long), and Hayles's friendship with Dina is still going strong, I love that she has that support outside the guys. There was more character development, and I loved getting to know more about the guys and getting a look at Hayles's home life.
There was also more world-building, I enjoyed seeing the group out of a school setting. There were cute dates, festivals, and lots of trips to a few other places. The group kinda felt like a mix of Scooby-Doo and Supernatural, with the investigations due to the demon attacks and researching the mystery of Hayles's wings. Something shady is most definitely going on, I have theories but so far they haven't panned out. However, towards the end of the book, there was one heck of a plot twist and a few scenes that got my heart pumping.
Wings of Torment was worth the wait, the story was a perfect mix of friendship, mystery, and romance. Victoria Pauley did me dirty though. She ended the story with a cliffhanger that knocked me right out of my seat. I need the next book to come soon rather than later.
Victoria Pauley has once again created a masterpiece with Wings of Torment, which follows Hayliel and the gang as they navigate rising tensions among the angels. We also can’t forget about the not-so-little threat of an all-out war with the demons. This book has everything I love in my stories: action, chemistry between the characters, and steam that makes me melt into a puddle. I loved the continuing relationship development between Hayliel and her guys as they navigate the attraction burning through them. The character development was also amazing to read as well, specifically Hayliel’s character as well as Zeke’s.
I loved this book so much, and I highly recommend this series to anyone looking for another paranormal romance to dive into! I cannot wait for the next installment.
So, once again I’ve read an absolute masterpiece, the author did it again, this book had me in a chokehold and I LOVED IT, so let’s get right on to the review
First off, the characters in this book are incredibly well-developed. They feel so real and relatable, like friends you've known for years. Each character has their own unique personality, struggles, and growth throughout the story. You'll find yourself rooting for them, empathizing with their challenges, and celebrating their triumphs. I love the guys so much, they’re all so sweet and you can really see how much they care for Hayliel, who is my favourite again, of course.
The world-building in "Wings of Torment" is truly captivating. The author creates a vivid and immersive setting that transports you into the story. Whether it's a dark forest or a the university you'll feel like you're right there alongside the characters, experiencing every moment with them, the descriptions are truly amazing.
One of the things I appreciate most about this book is its exploration of complex themes. It delves into topics like love, loss, identity, and the power of friendship. The author handles these themes with sensitivity and depth, offering thought-provoking insights that will stay with you long after you've finished reading. It also shows how deceitful and two-faced people can be, how they can easily change up when it benefits them, there’s also some mysterious characters that leave you wanting to know more about them.
But now, I have to wait until the third book comes out, which is 2025 by the way and that’s TORTURE! I need to know what happens, and yes it’s a NEED not a want. Like I’d sell my soul to find out what happens.
Overall, Wings of Torment is a book that will touch your heart and ignite your imagination. It's a story that reminds us of the power of hope, resilience, and the strength of the angel spirit. So, grab a cozy blanket, a cup of your favorite beverage, and get ready to be swept away into this enchanting world on release day! It’s 1000% worth it, I promise you.

After reaching the end of Wings of Deception I've been counting down the days until I could have more of these characters and their story in my life! This second installment became one of my anticipated reads and I've been so excited for it. I dived right in and devoured it in one sitting! I absolutely loved this second book!
Hayliel, Ezekiel, Raphael, and Theo's journey continues! After facing so much in the last installment, these four are dealing with the aftermath of it all at Silver City University. Hayliel is trying her best to find out more about her wings. Can Raphael, Theo, and Ezekiel help Hayliel? And what about how these two Pure Angels and Fallen Angel make Hayliel feel? So many questions that need answers and truths of hearts feelings, indeed.
Gah! It felt like no time had passed at all as I reunited with Hayliel and her men! I was so quickly hooked once again by these four and the SCU world. After everything that happened, I didn't know how they'd tackle everything that's happened with the demons, others at SCU, finding answers, and their feelings which all had me on edge and 100% invested. I was glued to Hayliel, Raphael, Theo, and Ezekiel throughout waiting to see what all would unfold and what could be uncovered. These four had me feeling it all with them!
I truly felt for Hayliel when it came to seeking answers and dealing with others. Once again she had such strength and realness that makes for one kick-butt character. I loved getting to see some of her finding herself. Raphael had me swooning again, grinning wide, especially when it came to how he was with Hayliel and this mans mouth, i swear. 🔥 Theo had me falling even harder for him with his care towards Hayliel, wanting to hug him, and my full adoration. 🥰 Ezekiel brought out my emotions again, cheering him on to help our girl, and going heart eyes from how Hayliel ignited so much within him. 😍 I thoroughly enjoyed getting to dig deeper not only into this world but with each character and peeling back their layers.
The protectiveness and caring sides of these characters showed throughout. From the chemistry between Hayliel and her men to the intensity of her connections with each one, it all lit up my kindle! I swear I turned all kinds of red at certain unforgettable moments and blushworthy doesn't even begin to cover it! 🥵🔥 Seriously, where can I find some Angels of my own?!
Just like the delicious food these angels love, I devoured this book and oh what a treat of a reading experience it was! Being reunited with Hayliel, Raphael, Theo, and Ezekiel thrilled me to no end!
It's so special when you find yourself so immersed in a story that it utterly consumes your mind and heart and the Silver City University Series continues to do that for me in spades! This series, it's characters, and the SCU world all soar high and shine bright!
With Wings of Torment, Ms.Pauley has created an unputdownable, utterly unique, and truly noteworthy continuation! She brought the fiery heat, the realness that wrapped it's way around my heart, so many emotions under the sun, and the unexpected that kept me on the edge of my seat. This is one of my favorite reads of the year!
This author's writing paints such a vivid picture for the mind, brings us such incredible characters, evoke all kinds of emotions from this heart of mine, reminds us we aren't alone and takes us on a journey we'll never forget! OMG! That Cliffhanger has left me in the best kind of bookhangover and I NEED more of these characters and their story in my life so badly! I'm already counting down the days until I can read book three, Wings of Strife! 💜
If you haven't dived into the Silver City University Series yet, you need to ASAP!
*I volunteered to read and review a copy of this book from the author / Completely Booked PR*
This series has snuck up on me; I haven't read a good "chosen one-ish" story for a while and I was completely sucked into this one straight away. I love the idea of the wings being completely arbitrary and it having nothing to do with your parentage or your personality and how the society of this world works with the Pure and the Fallen. I want to know more about the mythology of this world and although this builds on book one I hope some more mysteries are unraveled as clearly there are parts of the angel's history someone is going to great lengths to hide.
Zeke is my favourite; the whole fake dating piece was so bittersweet (I absolutely love Hayliel's parents - they are couple goals) as they both try and figure out how to tell the other what they really want; their slow burn is on point and the leather jacket reveal was perfectly timed! Raph has his own thing going on with his brother and Seraphina not taking the hint but Theo probably shows the most development in this book. Theo taking Zeke to task on how he was treating Hayliel was such a highlight for him as a character and showed how far he has come from book one. I also liked seeing the different pairings of characters as well as Dina still being involved in the plans while they try and figure out what Hayliel's role is in all this as well as the possibility of a mole in their midst. Dina is an absolute hoot. I love her.
Book three can't come soon enough - I need to know how on earth we are coming back from that cliffhanger as it was pretty brutal!
My interpretation of the star system; 3 stars - I enjoyed it; would read the author again 4 stars - I really liked it; I am invested and definitely want more from this author/series 5 stars - I loved it; I engaged with this book completely until I finished it and it is one I will re-read
Tropes: RH, why choose, tortured FMC, feisty heroine, angels/demons, hidden identity, found family, dark academy romance, PNR, fantasy romance
Review: Wings of Torment takes us back to SCU in this thrilling second book in Hayliel’s story! Victoria did a great job with developing the plot in this book and setting up each character for a lot of growth. While I loved Hayliel and her fierceness in book 1, she truly began to mature in this book and proved how strong she was up until the end!
While each male fits into the group well, Ezekiel was my favorite it in this book. We get to learn more about his story and see how hard the “Pures” affected him and his feelings for Hayliel. Seeing him soften towards Theo and then Raph was really the best part of the book. Victoria did a phenomenal job with creating the tension and moral dilemma he had with befriending the two and also with dealing with his tumultuous relationship with Hayliel.
The ending was not anything I could have predicted. I loved how Victoria kept me guessing about what would happen and took twists and turns with her story. I cannot wait to learn more about her wings and to see how the events ending this book affect the next one!
Rating: 5/5, an epic installment to Hayliel’s romance!
Thank you Completely Booked PR & Victoria Pauley for the ARC!
Victoria Pauley sure knows how to pack a punch with the second book of the Silver City University series. Wings of Torment plunges right back in from where book one ended and yes I am completely here for all the angels and demons oh my. These characters are definitely a group I would love to be friends with, never giving Hayliel any grief about her new wings and even accepting Zeke into the mix, recognizing that he's more an asset than an ass. I truly loved all the suspenseful investigations, knowing the only way to get real answers is to figure things out themselves.
Wings of Toment is truly a fitting title because the group really was tormented by not one so called expert or professor being able to share knowledge of golden wings or why demons are coming around more. I definitely felt all the emotions as if I really was right there in the story. I also loved the progression of Hayliel, Theo, and Raph's relationship. They just click and just goes to show you have a good time without there being sexual tension. At the same time though, I really need more Zeke, he is absolutely my favorite, and I been missing how he is with Hayliel. Overall I can easily say this is a must read series, Wings of Torment was a thrilling story, and after that ending I'm more than excited for book three.
Book two in this series uses its character-driven plot to offer readers a deeper dive into its characters and their relationships together. There’s still a hint of action and the usual intrigue readers have come to expect, but the character-focused lore takes up the main bulk of the story. Because of this, the pacing of the overarching plot is slower than the first; the author choosing to showcase the strengthening bonds between the MCs and setting up plot points for later in the series instead of progressing things too quickly. Once the pacing gets going, however, the story rapidly advances until another nail-biting cliffhanger.
This book acts as a sort of building block, as far as the series-wide plot goes. Is it important? A percentage of it is. But the many relationship-building side-quests that make up the bulk of it could’ve been condensed or altogether removed to move the plot along. Most of them only had the purpose of furthering the MCs’ bond, and while that in itself has its own purpose within the book, having too many of those scenes without any real plot points to go along with them was, in my opinion, a repetitive and unnecessary choice for the author to make.
Having said that, the book as a whole was entertaining enough to make up for any personal gripes I had with the pacing. The curiosity of figuring out the FMC’s place in the world has me hooked and ready to read the next book, ASAP.
"Wings of Torment" is the second book in the "Silver City University" series, and one I've been really looking forward to. Even though this is a fantasy series that involves angels and demons, there are some themes getting close to home, and I'm fascinated with the worldbuilding and the place all of these characters hold in it. Add a girl in that world with powers she doesn't understand, a bunch of questions and mysteries, and you get an interesting and fascinating storyline.
With this being a second book, it suffers a little from a slower development the first part of the book. There's focus on relationship building in this part of the book, adding a bit of spice to the storyline, and all the questions I had at the end of the first book keep on simmering for a pretty long time. I have to admit I had to put in the effort to pull through that part of the storyline, but once I got halfway I really started to enjoy the story again. We get introduced to a new part of the world, characters grow closer, the action and suspense ramps up and we end with a fascinating cliffhanger to mull over the next months...
I'll admit, I'm having a favorite in Hayliel's harem. Ezekiel has touched a part of my heart, and I can't wait to see him becoming a true part of the family.
From grey to golden ashes to light After the demon attack on the Silver City University is over, Hayliel is standing surrounded by the ashes of the demons she obliterated. So not only does she have to deal with the taunting her grey wings brings now unexpectedly her wings have transformed into a beautifully golden color. The attack wasn’t like others because the demons seemed to just be playing with the students and the guild who is sworn to protect the angels is no where to be found. She’s trying to navigate her feelings for Theo ,Raphael, and Ezekiel all while trying to figure out what the change in her wings means. Despite all of their research nothing makes sense. Her wings, her strength, the demons attacking nothing is what it seems. This book was so good it was over before I realized and ends on a cliff hanger. So that part kind of sucks a little because I’m desperate to know what happens next. There is a little more back story for each character and that really helps to understand their dynamic. Zeke can’t really hate hayliel as much as he wants to and the relationship between Theo, raph, and hayliel is getting stronger. I love the world created within the pages and can’t wait to read the next one!
In this gripping sequel, we delve deeper into Hayliel's world, where tensions among the angels reach a boiling point, threatening to ignite a war with the demons. The action-packed plot, simmering chemistry, and steamy romance kept me glued to the pages from start to finish. Pauley's masterful character development shines through, particularly in the evolution of Hayliel and Zeke.
While the slow burn of the romance adds depth, the narrative doesn't shy away from adrenaline-pumping action and suspense. The intricate world-building and mysteries surrounding Hayliel's powers and the dynamics between angels and demons add layers of intrigue.
Although the initial pacing may feel sluggish, the story picks up momentum midway, leading to a gripping climax that leaves readers on the edge of their seats. The bond between Hayliel and her companions deepens, offering heartwarming moments amidst the looming threat of deception and betrayal.
'Wings of Torment' delivers a captivating blend of fantasy, romance, and suspense, leaving readers eagerly anticipating the next installment. For fans of paranormal romance with rich world-building and complex character dynamics, this book is an absolute gem. Don't miss out on this mesmerizing journey into the supernatural realm!"
Wings of Torment is a mesmerizing continuation of the series, seamlessly picking up where it left off. The author's adept world-building and character development make for a captivating read. Hayliel's transformation with golden wings adds layers of intrigue, leaving readers craving answers to the mysteries surrounding her. Amidst the slow burn, the fiery chemistry between Hayliel, Theo, and Raphael ignites the pages, while Zeke's evolving character adds depth to the narrative. The exploration of themes like love, loss, and friendship is handled with sensitivity, offering profound reflections. Yet, amidst the warmth of camaraderie, the narrative also exposes the cold reality of deceit and hidden motives, keeping readers on the edge. And oh, that ending! Prepare for a rollercoaster of emotions that will leave you reeling and yearning for more. For aficionados of paranormal tales with rich world-building and intricate character dynamics, Wings of Torment is a must-read.
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Burn:🔥🔥🔥 Spice:🌶️🌶️🌶️ Darkness: 🖤 POV: Multi Ending: Cliffhanger
I have anticipated this book since the ending of book one. Victoria did it again, she had me wrapped up in this world never wanting to leave. Her writing is phenomenal and it leaves you begging for more.
Demons, Angels, and a slow burn why choose?! Yes please!
This book starts exactly where the cliff hanger left us and buckle up because the suspense just gets building throughout the entire book! The questions just keep piling up and I feel like there are so many people behind what is happening. BUT WHO?! 😂 The last 25% I was on the edge of my seat and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. THAT ENDING….it’s a doozy! I will be counting down the days for book 3!
The character development and growth is fantastic. Ezekiel..🫠 he definitely gets his ass told what is up and truth be told, he needed it 😂 he’s coming around and I love it!! Theo and Raph, I love how much they love Hayliel and just want her happy. They’ll do whatever to make that happen. 🥹🖤
Seriously, start with book one and devour these two books like I did! You won’t be disappointed 😉
After the cliffhanger in Wings of Deception I just had to know what happened. Reading Wings of Torment was great! I love the progression in the story and the action/mystery aspect to it. Gray areas and everything in between. I enjoy all the relationship progression as well. Between Hayliel and the boys and the boys with each other. Shows that maturing and working together works when you put your mind/heart to it. Also, those boys, woo lol👀🥵 And while it is a short read, it still covers everything you may need in this book regarding the storyline. May not answer your questions completely but it gets you closer to the answers, just like the characters! We are learning more as they learn more.
I would recommend this series, especially if you like the fantasy reads! ⚠️ fair warning, this one also ends on a cliffhanger, so go read Wings of Strife! 💙🪽
I was counting down the days for the release of this and did not disappoint. It was everything I was hoping for and more! I completely devoured this in one sitting.
This one continues with a lot more world building and slow burn which is absolute perfection. It flows seamlessly making sure we get to know more about the world the author created and the characters. I enjoy how it isn’t rushing things. The chemistry between Hayliel and her men leaves me wanting more because I can’t get enough of these characters.
Since the attack on SCU we begin to learn more in this one but are also left with so many questions and suspicions. I am so ready for book 3 after that cliffhanger the author left us with. For anyone looking for a fantasy/angel/paranormal romance this one is must read.
Woooooow!!! Take me now!!! Pick me, pick me!!!! Because who wouldn’t want to be young, have ‘shiny’ 😉 wings and have angels vying for her attention? But for Hayliel, getting to enjoy her harem isn’t the only thing she needs to deal with. Suddenly going from being an outcast to the most popular angel is not all its cracked up to be. In fact, its dangerous!
Victoria Pauley has written an amazing sequel to Wings of Deception which ended in a huge cliffhanger! And in her brilliant style of cliffhangers, Pauley has done it again in this second book! Easy to read, great world building, slow burn and a great development of the characters from book 1. Definitely deserving of 5 stars, and definitely looking out for book 3!!
Book Review of ‘Wings of Torment’ by Victoria Pauley.
Ohhh Myyy Goshh! Seriously loving this series! Finished this book so quick! We continue where book 1 left off, and more mysteries and twists and turns come their way. While still trying to figure out how she went from grey to gold. What IS she??! Is there a mole among the angels? Im also still trying to figure out ‘who dunnit’, but so far the storyline is so good in keeping it hidden! Multiple options for sure, how thrilling! What are the demons really after? The 🌶️ is sizzling! When will Zeke finally come and join the fun🤣 And that final chapter🤯 A big big 5/5⭐️ for this book. Off to book 3 we go❤️ #bookreview #bookrecs #bookgram #booktok #instagram #silvercityuniversity #wingsoftorment #victoriapauley @Author Victoria Pauley
“Wings of Torment” picks up where Wings of Deception left off, and honey… buckle up. Hayliel’s back at Silver City University, juggling angel drama, demon chaos, and more secrets than a small-town beauty salon. Zeke is still hot, still broody, and still making questionable decisions that make you want to shake him and then… maybe kiss him. The mystery? Thick. The romance? Slow burn with enough tension to toast marshmallows over. And that ending? Oh, she did us dirty—Victoria Pauley threw us off a cliff without so much as a parachute. This isn’t just supernatural romance—it’s Scooby-Doo meets Supernatural, with a side of “Why do I love this emotional torture so much?” If you don’t read it, your TBR pile is lying to you.
What the heck?! That cliffhanger has me on the edge of my seat needing answers asap. Hayliel seems to be bringing raph, Theo and zeke closer than she even realizes. Although he's hesitant at first, zeke seems to be coming to his senses. They're still trying to find out why hayliels wings have turned gold and what is going on with the demon attacks. They don't know who they can trust, all they know is there's supposed allies working with the enemy, but the question is just who are they up against? While this was low on spice, it had plenty of action and character building that I absolutely loved. I need more!
This book picked up right where Wings of Deception left in the end with SCU being attacked and Hayliel’s wings changing.
This book was such a good read and gave more information to Hayliel and her men. After the attack on SCU, the group had more questions than answers and with events in this book becoming odd they are sticking together to get more information.
The chemistry between Hayliel and her men kept you wanting more. Even with this being a slower-paced book with action the chemistry made this book hot.
I’m ready for book three after the cliffhanger that Victoria Pauley leaves you with. This series is a must-read for anyone who loves fantasy/paranormal romance.
Took me a while but only because I have a new job that keeps me super busy. Otherwise I would have devoured this book in a few days. I would suggest reading the first book in the series to understand Hayliel’s relationship with Zeke, Theo and Raphael, but anyways this book had action, love triangle but maybe not love triangle and a cliffhanger that you wish you could read the next book already.
Angel students that discover their enemy, demons, have gotten help and stolen the only weapons that could kill an angel. But why and who is helping. This has been an amazing romance action paranormal story and I can’t wait to continue the series.
WOW!! Ok so first off we pick up exactly where we left off in the first book. Hayliel has always been different being an Angel with grey wings…but now her wings are gold and no one knows what that means. But what transpires throughout this second book makes you see that there is so much more going on. Theo, Ralph and Zeke join together along with Hayliel to figure out exactly what that is. Coming up with more questions than answers. This cliffhanger will gut you so be ready! I need Wings of Strife like I need my next breath because that ending was just so shocking.
This book was a little slow due to it being centred around character and relationship growth with a dash of action at the end. As a result it became tedious for me to read at some points so I often ended up skimming pages rather than reading fully. I think part of this for me though is linked to the disconnect I had from the first book which continues in part to this book. That being said it was a good story, although raised more questions than answered regarding wings and angel history.
This book was over way too quick. It was a fantastic read . It had a gripping storyline filled with action and an egsexcruciating slow burn.
The characters in this book are amazing and very relatable, and i loved how they progressed throughout the book.
The world building was enchanting, transporting you straight into the pages. I'm looking forward to book 3, especially after this one ended on a cliffhanger.
Fantasy is not a typical trope for me, but the blurb caught me for the first book, and I had to read! So glad I did.
Book two develops the world and the characters so much so, that I want to continue the journey!
The Reverse Harem trope is no hardship, believe me when I say, I don't want to have to choose between the guys as my newest book boyfriend either! YUM!
Fabulous! After finishing Wings of Deception I was waiting my time for this to come out and it was worth it every minute. Character building is so well done! I love Hayliel and her guys and now they deal with their journey and Hayliel also with her feelings for the guys. Can things get more complicated? The answer is yes of course now that there's more involved. Now I need angels like these guys. Great book I highly recommend.
While I still love the unique storyline and the amazing characters such as the strong female lead and the males in her circle, this book definitely falls into 2nd book syndrome. It's alot of story without any real answers given to the readers and ends in a cliffhanger but having said this I can't wait for the next book cause I'm sure we are going to get the alot more of the history and adventure to come.
