Pinocchio 1 b I spoke to a boy. But the kid ... U… ? B A normal high school girl Choi Haram. I am going to school with excited heart for the new semester. Then I see a peer boy who keeps talking to himself with a dull look. Poor heart is handing one candy, and the child says gladly. "Please play with me." Haram thinks that he is a pervert, but he escapes, and again he appears before Haram. Unbelievably he was a ghost that only appeared in the Haram Eye! He introduces himself as Yu-on. It is a wonderful situation in a comic book. what can I do! I think my life is twisted!
For now this review is just for Pinocchio's prequel, One Winter (I'll update after reading the main story)
English title: One Winter Original title: 겨울하나 Chapters: 8 Author: Maru (마루) Artist: Maru (마루) Genre: Mystery , Supernatural, Drama, Shoujo, Webtoon Prequel to: Pinocchio
Rating 3.5 (for now)
A Jung Eden is stranded in a hospital after a motorcycle accident (he and two of his friend have took a short joyride to the nearest street pole) . He is bored, and takes it out on the nurses and his mom. One day he finds a necklace, and soon meets ... a ghost. Lovely colors and drawings as usually with webtoons. Simple story. The first seven chapters were nice on the eyes, but nothing worth writing home about.
The last chapter though stomped my heart down, albeit leaving a hopeful, open ending. I'll check on the main story.
Pinocchio is about a lonely ghost, Yu Ga On, with no memories of his past. He meets a girl, Choi Ha Ram, who has the ability to see him, the reason being she holds a special necklace which allows the wearer to see and touch him. Gaon and Haram become friends. Our ghost tries to help the girl in whatever way he can and make her life easier, but clumsy as he is, he ends up making things difficult for her. Over time, he starts wishing he were human. Hence, the title Pinocchio.
The side characters are interesting and quirky. My favourite is HanBit, HaRam's childhood friend and crush, who reminds me of Ouran's Tamaki for some reason.
There are some unexpected plot twists. The art is beautiful. There is comedy in unexpected places. The character development is quite good. Overall, this is a refreshing read. Highly recommended!
Note: The rating and review are for the whole series.
I had to drop this one sadly. The story was okay at first and the ghost boy was adorable. However, halfway through, I think that they lost their way. I got a bit confused with the addition of so many new characters. And the main story seemed like it was forgotten, as the manhwa showed only the ghost boy and not the girl. At least the art was fine and there were some funny moments.
