Walter Elias “Walt” Disney (December 5, 1901 – December 15, 1966) was an American film producer, director, screenwriter, voice actor, animator, entrepreneur, entertainer, international icon, and philanthropist. Disney is famous for his influence in the field of entertainment during the 20th century. As the co-founder (with his brother Roy O. Disney) of Walt Disney Productions, Disney became one of the best-known motion picture producers in the world. The corporation he co-founded, now known as The Walt Disney Company, today has annual revenues of approximately U.S. $35 billion.
Disney is particularly noted for being a film producer and a popular showman, as well as an innovator in animation and theme park design. He and his staff created some of the world's most famous fictional characters including Mickey Mouse, a character for which Disney himself was the original voice. He has been awarded four honorary Academy Awards and has won twenty-two competitive Academy Awards out of fifty-nine nominations, including a record four in one year, giving him more awards and nominations than any other individual. He also won seven Emmy Awards. He is the namesake for Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resort theme parks in the United States, as well as the international resorts Tokyo Disney, Disneyland Paris, and Disneyland Hong Kong.
Disney died of lung cancer in Burbank, California, on December 15, 1966. The following year, construction began on Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. His brother Roy Disney inaugurated the Magic Kingdom on October 1, 1971.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) (commonly referred to as Disney) is the largest media and entertainment conglomerate in the world in terms of revenue. Founded on October 16, 1923, by brothers Walt Disney and Roy Disney as the Disney Brothers Cartoon Studio, the company was reincorporated as Walt Disney Productions in 1929. Walt Disney Productions established itself as a leader in the American animation industry before diversifying into live-action film production, television, and travel. Taking on its current name in 1986, The Walt Disney Company expanded its existing operations and also started divisions focused upon theatre, radio, publishing, and online media. In addition, it has created new divisions of the company in order to market more mature content than it typically associates with its flagship family-oriented brands.
The company is best known for the products of its film studio, the Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group, today one of the largest and best-known studios in Hollywood. Disney also owns and operates the ABC broadcast television network; cable television networks such as Disney Channel, ESPN, and ABC Family; publishing, merchandising, and theatre divisions; and owns and licenses 11 theme parks around the world. On January 23, 2006, it was announced that Disney would purchase Pixar in an all-stock transaction worth $7.4 billion. The deal was finalized on May 5. On December 31, 2009, Disney Company acquired the Marvel Entertainment, Inc. for $4.24 billion. The company has been a component of the Dow Jones Industrial Average since May 6, 1991. An early and well-known cartoon creation of the company, Mickey Mouse, is the official mascot of The Walt Disney Company.
Come on, it's Disney, it's the Aristocats, and what if it is just the summary of the movie? It was nice, heartwarming and so nostalgic! Now I wanna be a cat 🧡
Duchess has three kittens, Tu-Tu-, Marie and Berly and she brings them up in a proper way, particularly when it comes to holding their tails up the right way. However the butler, Edgar, a nasty looking piece of work, dislikes the kittens and wants all the cats out of the way.
To achieve his aim, Edgar devises a plan and very quickly the kittens and Duchess are removed from the house. They find themselves miles away from anywhere and don't know what to do when out of nowhere appears Tom O'Malley, the alley cat. When he finds out that the Duchess and her kittens are lost he devises a variety of ways to get them back to their home and an adventurous trip begins.
When they eventually arrive home the kittens in particular want to stay with O'Malley but they don't get a chance for Edgar reappears and kidnaps them once more so as to take them away again.
But this time he doesn't cater for Tom O'Malley and he does not achieve his end - not only that but he suffers the ultimate punishment for his treachery and Tom O'Malley becomes part of the Duchess's family.
A happy little tale, beautifully illustrated by the Walt Disney Studios.
‘Beautiful Duchess and her three kittens are lost! To find their way back to their beloved Madame Bonfamille, they ask for help from Abraham de Lacy Giuseppe Casey Thomas O’Malley, a resourceful alley cat. But Madame’s conniving butler, Edgar, tries to prevent them from coming home again. Will they ever make it back?’ I adored this book. I absolutely adored The Aristocats film, so as soon as I saw this book I knew I had to buy it. I am very happy to say that this book was everything I wanted it to be and so much more. Going into this book I knew the story would have to have been condensed from the film version, so I was a little worried as to what would be edited out and how this would affect the story, but it turns out I had nothing to worry about. The story flowed perfectly and even though I know the story has had elements removed I could off the top of my head tell you what was missing. Another worry that I had going into this book was that there obviously would be any of the musical elements that I adored so much in the film. Luckily for me, I have seen the film so many times that the soundtrack played in my mind; staying there for many days, as I was making my way through the story, so I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. This is one of those books that just oozes magic and joy. While I fully admit that I am not the target audience for this book, nor do I have any young readers in my life, but I am so glad that I now own this book, and I look forward to revisiting it many times in the future. Disney Movie Collection Storybook is a must-have for all young readers and their families.
- Too short to read even if the most important scenes are there. However, as I watched it a hundred times when I was younger, I remembered the missing pieces.
- Some of the images don't correspond to the text.
- A good nostalgia moment as while I was reading it, I was singing the songs.
Always loved the movie but never had the opportunity to read the book. I found it in a second hand story and I never looked back. It's funny, it's super cute, and adorable. O'Malley has my heart and I absolutely adore everything in this story 🩷
Dieses Buch erzählt die Geschichte des Disney Films und ist mit vielen bunten Bildern illustriert. Es eignet sich gut für diejenigen, die die Geschichte gerne noch einmal in Buchform erleben möchten.
