About the author

Annwyn Avalon is a Water Witch, Water Priestess, and the founder of Triskele Rose Witchcraft, an Avalonian witchcraft tradition. She has devoted her life to the study of art, witchcraft, and magic. She is an initiated Witch and Priestess, Reiki Master Teacher, award-winning Dancer, published author and has a BFA in sculpture, BA in Anthropology with emphasis on plant and human interactions, and has received an apprentice certificate in Herbalism. She writes for the Magical Times Magazine in the UK and has contributed to other published works such as The New Aradia a Witches handbook for resistance.

-hard to told and small text makes it not the easiest to read

- loved the concise history & explanation of how large & varied the Celtic lands & people were

- like that this is an introductory book to working with these goddesses and that further research into history and how they were worshipped is encouraged

- as with last book I wish the meditations were available online! Could easily be done and be a big help especially as these are very involved journeys

- loved the history into the goddesses they featured and the ways to work with each of them that are featured

- many of the exercises are accessible & wouldn't cost much money to do. Plus they give you different ways to connect with the different goddesses

- goddesses from all over the celtic region are featured not just Scotland and Ireland so cool and so accurate

- there is a mention of chronic pain in the conclusion which was so nice to see us considered

-the glossary contains more goddesses to research which is a great jumping off point

Un libro con una sfilza di divinità femminili provenienti dal mondo celtico (essenzialmente irlandese/gallese, pochissima roba sul mondo continentale). Purtroppo poco approfondito: per ogni dea viene riportato il suo mito (non nel dettaglio e, ovviamente, solo quando presente), qualche corrispondenza e infine alcuni riti che si possono fare con la divinità in questione.
Non mi ha entusiasmato per come l'autrice stessa si è posta (ricordo un passaggio in cui ha asserito di essere la reincarnazione di una persona vissuta al tempo di Cleopatra, cosa che, ogni volta, mi fa venire il latte alle ginocchia), e certe avvertenze mi hanno fatto sorridere ("non venerare la Morrigan a cuor leggero, perché è una divinità oscura!", salvo poi suggerire di invocare dee come Nicnevin e altre entità fatate a piacere. Meh.)
Insomma, se siete a digiuno di informazioni sulle divinità femminili celtiche, questo un'infarinatura la dà. Ma niente di più.

I really wanted to like this more than I did. It wasn't bad, I just don't really feel like I got a ton out of it. Most of the first paragraphs of each section felt like the same sentence written in different ways, like you're trying to up the page count on a research paper. It was very repetitive in small ways, and I started finding myself skimming a lot. Still, there was definitely some useful information in here, and I didn't dislike it--it was just very standard.
