All the OG's remember the tragedy that was the Sookie Stackhouse series. Remember how the last book or so was obviously a contract obligation on the author's part and no longer a passion project?
I mean, Sam? WTF?
Well, this book struggled with the same problem. Everything that was great about the series died here. We should have a moment of silence for the humor, chemistry, and excitement first.
okay, a little dramatic, but I'll allow it.
David is a human sorcerer who has been in the book since the beginning. He had an elf fall in love with him at first sight for ... reasons...?
We are assured that David doesn't want to be thought of as the boring and predictable pencil pusher that he is and that the elf will bring him out of that role.
Um. No. The elf just tried to become more boring and predictable to match up with David. Plus, here's a big problem - not once in the book are we told what elf-dude looks like. I know he was described in the last book, but hey, I only have so many slots on my KU books. I have to delete a lot. Just tell me again, dammit!
Cuz, this is where my mind goes. A lot of things, but sexy ain't one of them.
Another huge missing element was the humor. Where did it go? David is so boring that humor just isn't a thing here? That is absolutely NOT acceptable in JillyLand.
The final nail in the coffin was how much of the action happened "off page". There were weird time jumps that would have explanations of what had happened in that time - but they were big events. We should have seen it, not read a recap about it. In this we get that rare first-person account of the guy who was at the wrong bank while the rest of his gang did the heist. Why?
I truly think this book was written just to wrap up the series and leave a trail for the next one. It never engaged me like the previous books did. It was just as exciting and fun as going to the wrong bank.

David and Caolan are so cuuuuuute.
I love how these two characters find each other in the midst of an epic crisis. Caolan was introduced at the end of the previous book, and I was totally smitten and couldn't dive into this story fast enough.
And yes, there's even a little battle at the end to finally put a stop to the bad guys. But don't expect too much. This series is primarily about fun, finding family, and playing pranks.
Or rather, dialogues that are completely ridiculous, but addictive, and you can't stop reading.
With that in mind, I'm diving right into the dragons in the spin-off. Actually, it's not so much a spin-off as it is this series simply going into overtime. I'm addicted, no, I don't need help, I just keep reading...
Lack of a schedule is the first step on the road descending into chaos and anarchy. What’s next, the world runs out of coffee? 😲

In the grand scheme of things does this break any new barriers? No. However, this series definitely got better with each book, tied together with a central story arc, and in the end what’s most important to me is that I had fun!
Where this shines is the various offbeat paranormal characters that got more and more entertaining as the reader gets into each POV, where the interactions and history between them all builds, adding more weight and depth, not only to the characters but to the entire story as a whole!
This last installment features OCD and uptight sorcerer David who falls for his complete opposite. Unbeknownst to David, elf Caolan is his perfect counterpart, a calming, caring, and carefree presence that is a balm to his soul. They must work together to bridge their worlds to save Caolan’s people from annihilation as well as the existence of magic as they know it.
Really great silly fun with a dash of romance and a seriously unsettling underlying plot thread that I thought was a well thought out creation! Good stuff!

Sorcerers Always Satisfy certainly left me one satisfied reader!
This fourth and final book in Masters’ fun and imaginative paranormal MM saga was everything I wanted out of this series finale.
The cross-series arc, focusing on the fight to stop Dr Tish and his evil elf counterpart from reining tyranny on Earth, reached its zenith and the bad guys (thankfully) got their due—but not without all the excitement and danger that came as our heroes and their friends scrambled to save the day while staying classy.
The humour was, once again, on point, but this time perhaps less in-your-face than the past three books, which I put down to the fact that the focus character (of David) was obviously always the saner and more level-headed of the sometimes-outrageously rowdy teammates that held the spotlight in past books.
It helped that I adored David’s love interest, Caolan, the emissary elf from another dimension, whose adoration of dear David was deliciously swoon-worthy. Caolan was wonderfully forthright and expressive, but I enjoyed the way he crafted his wooing of David to suit David’s needs and wants. It was positively romantic and probably my favourite couple of the series because of it.
As for the story itself, I was impressed by the way Masters built the larger plot across the full series, providing all the building blocks necessary in the first three stories to make this final book truly shine. The pacing in this one was hands-down the best of the lot, with a lot less magic exposition than the previous books and more fast-paced storytelling, that had me eager to move rapidly through the chapters in a way I can safely say I didn’t feel the need to do in the first three.
Beyond the satisfying conclusion and the lovely romantic pairing here, I think my absolute favourite thing about this one was the history we learned about David’s past (and subsequently many of the other characters pasts). I loved finally learning about the formation of Lucifer’s top team and how some of these characters first bonded centuries prior—it was something definitely missing from my experience in the earlier books, but I’m so grateful these details were provided here because they really helped to add some much-needed emotional oomph to the entire thing.
Did I mention there are raucous and randy dragon shifters in the mix now, too?! No?! Well, there are and they're awesome…
Overall, I had a fun time barrelling through this series and I have no qualms about carrying on in eager delight with the spin-off series and beyond.

I’ll always have a soft spot for characters who’re new to “our” world.
Here, we have Caolan, who’s an elf, part of the group who’s on Earth to organise the migration of the rest of their species (including dragons)- and ofc to hunt down Dr. Tish and his counterpart, the portal making, evil elf Eibhear. Together, they want to kill elemental magic and enslave humanity - so yeah, high stakes.
While in the previous books, I found that I enjoyed the “big street arch” more than the romance, it was the opposite here: David and Caolan are my favourite couple in this series, and I LOVED Caolan’s unabashed enthusiasm to all things human, especially phones and that app called “the Instant Gram”
Alistair plants himself on the other side of Caolan. Dustin is with him.
“Hey! So, this is probably a good time to practice selfies.”
Caolan blinks.
“Practice what?”
Oh crap. With all the chaos of leaving work and rushing over here before Alistair’s “screening time,” I forgot to mention my meeting with Rabhya. I give him a quick rundown. He nods slowly.
“So people put pictures of themselves on this Instant Gram—”
“Instagram,” Dustin corrects. “I have two hundred followers already!”
“—and other people look at them?”
😂 why yes. That’s exactly how it works.
So: David and Caolan: very cute together, and (like in the other books) very low on relationship drama.
“It’s official,” he declares. “We’re boyfriends. I’m halfway in love with you, and I want to celebrate this moment with a blowjob.”
The showdown? Nice, but not as good as it could have been. There are a few plot twists, setting the stage for spinoffs.I loved their merry band and I’m looking forward to the occasional cameo in upcoming books.
Not quite a 5 star read, but a solid 4* entertainment 🙂

A fabulous conclusion to this brilliant paranormal romance series
It's no secret that fantasy is my first love, so it should be no surprise that a well-written paranormal series is also going to be high on my happiness list.
The Hidden Species series from Louisa has been utterly brilliant from start to finish. The world-building is superb, the villains are satisfactorily evil and twisted and the good guys perform daring deeds while falling madly in love.
This final book wrapped up everything beautifully and gave me David's love story, which I've been waiting for.
With a lovely twist, his love interest is an elf from another dimension and he declared his love from the moment they met, leading to all kinds of hilarious commentary from the rest of the team.
What I love the most about these books though, are the unshakable friendships between the team, they're snarky, pull tricks on each other all the time, and would die for the rest.
It's a world which has such a warmth to it, even when they're in the depths of despair, and Louisa has created this overwhelming sense of found family.
As David realises that Caolan is perfect for him and gives in to the attraction between them, the tension builds up with Tish and his gang of bad guys raising the stakes and seeming to be on the brink of ending magic forever.
The adrenaline filled rush to save the magic - and the rest of Earth from subjugation - is a cracking good way to wrap up this series and lead into the set-up for the next.
I'll happily read more in this connected universe until the cows (or elves and dragons) come home 😁

I think each book in this series gets better. This is the final book with the fight against Tish and the crew he has built over the years. Tish has managed to bring elves from a different dimension into the fight. David and Caolan must work together to prevent Tish's master plan.
Overall I really enjoyed it. I love the cast of characters. The romance between David and Caolan was cute. Glad David "finally got his head out of his a**" and saw how great Caolan was for him. I did hope there would be at least one more book in this series with more Sam but there will not be 😭 I am glad to know there will at least be a spinoff with Percy. I definitely look forward to that!

This series is SO fun and this was no exception. The main characters balanced each other perfectly and the book struck a nice balance between save-the-world action and developing a new (and inconveniently timed) relationship. As always, lots of laughs when the gang gets together, especially when there are parties to plan. I highlighted and giggled and can't wait for everyone else to get to read this! Now to impatiently wait for the spin-off series!

definitely the best one in the series. i may be biased because, you know, simp elf and all that culture explained and whatever but who cares.
generally this series could use some work. i appreciate the lighthearted feeling and goofiness but sometimes it’s dumb.

My overall impression of this book is that it was hastily written. It reads more like a SuperSummary book recap than an actual book. There were tons of summarizations, tons of time jumps (i.e. "a week later and this happened," "two weeks later we were still..." and etc.). I'm not even going to mention the horrible instance at 30% where the author decided to break the fourth wall and have her first person narrator recap the entire plot of the series so far, because it was really and truly awful. I've been critical of the romance elements in these books all along, and this one hasn't changed my mind, but I've found the main plot in previous books to be excellent and compelling. Unfortunately, in this one for me, nothing worked. There was a rush to the end and I just feel disappointed.

Most of the time it's more about telling than showing and when finally to near to the end of the book the final battle is happening it was an anti-climatic event for me; too less, too late. At least the prolog was a nice one.

Balance
First, to Alistair, I think I would have gone for the shimmer and sparkle. Second, to all of the CSG cast, you’re absolutely phenomenal, a riot of laughs, a wonderful mix of unforgettable personalities and you forever have my devotion and love. “Love transcends societies. It spans cultures and dimensions.” No matter how crazy it got—and let’s be real at times it was topsy-turvy; no matter how dangerous—wow does this book have zingers; no matter how funny—don’t drink while reading, at the heart of this incredible series is family, friends and love that knows no bounds.
On to David and Caolan, the stars of the show. These two made me swoon and gave the most fuzzy of warmest fuzzies. They’re smart, powerful, sexy and balance each other beautifully. I adore Caolan, from the way he woos to the way he thinks. David’s life is richer with him in it. The thing I love most about David, and he’s so completely lovable it’s hard to choose, is not only does he shine bright in this book but he’s a hidden bada$s. The more I learned about him the deeper I fell. Who knows maybe our schedules will align someday. While I’m sad this amazing series is ending, I’m ecstatic about the next because… Well, read this fantastic book and you will be too.

On to David and Caolan, the stars of the show. These two made me swoon and gave the most fuzzy of warmest fuzzies. They’re smart, powerful, sexy and balance each other beautifully. I adore Caolan, from the way he woos to the way he thinks. David’s life is richer with him in it. The thing I love most about David, and he’s so completely lovable it’s hard to choose, is not only does he shine bright in this book but he’s a hidden bada$s. The more I learned about him the deeper I fell. Who knows maybe our schedules will align someday. While I’m sad this amazing series is ending, I’m ecstatic about the next because… Well, read this fantastic book and you will be too.

I’m saddened that this series has ended. Caolan, sweet sweet Caolan drove David absolutely nuts. From him never being able to show up on time, ever, to him telling David that he is in love with him, though they do not know each other. We all knew that David has a bit OCD, but never this bad. Everything has it's place & everything has to be orderly. Caolan is a free sprite, even though his world is dying, he has this carefree attitude. It broke my heart when Caolan showed David what was left of his world & David really felt the impact of the rest of their people having to relocate to somewhere they have never been before. The battle with Tish & Eibhear come to a head & it looked as if things were not going to work out for the good. A major change happened that I never say coming & it was both a happy thing & a sad thing. Caolan & David were perfect for each other. Caolan showed David that he could let go of things & enjoy life. David showed Caolan that some structure was not a bad thing. I can't wait to see where the spin-off takes us as I'm not ready to leave this world.

Sad 😞 this wonderful series came to an end, heard there is a side story about the dragons so that’s exciting!!!! I would highly recommend this series! 🤗 There is love, snark and let’s catch the bad guys, what’s not to LOVE?!?

I’m so conflicted right now. And I have sooo many feelings.
This is the last book in the series, meaning I have some grieving to get through.
But there’s also some what-the-eff-happeneds that I need to come to terms with. Fortunately, there will be a spin-off. Which is a good thing. Apart from Percy’s story, I need Dustin’s. So bad.
This series has been quite the ride. What I’ve enjoyed the most is Masters’ humour and just in general the Hidden Species universe.
And this last installment really killed it with the added elf and dragon experience.
However, the humour was more toned-down this time around. I guess there’s a reason for that, though.
David is ever the serious one. Always so conscientious and trying to counter-balance the rest of the (crazy) team. And Caolan is the most earnest of characters, without a drop of snark in his entire body. So yeah, there’s less sass between the two to of them than would fit into Sam’s pinkie nail.
I must confess. Up until this book, David was somewhat of a non-entity to me. He was there in the background, always dependable, but really quite… bland. So, getting to know him in this read, and see behind the facade was awesome. He was so much more than what I imagined. Badass and tortured soul combined. Caolan was mostly cool because of his alien-ness. And because he loved David so deeply.
So I loved him for David despite his personality not standing out that much.
As has been the case throughout the previous books, most action happens off-page (It’s a bit frustrating even if I’m sort of used to it by now. But it’s such a distinct feature of these books, it’s worth mentioning again). The focus is almost exclusively on personal interactions where the events propelling the plot forward are mostly re-tellings. However, there is a big show-down with Tish and Éibhear at the end of this book, which was great! I have waited forever so see our heroes in action. So I loved that.
But, there was more to the ending than a big fight. Way more. And now, a day after I finished the book, I’m still not entirely certain what to think about it. The wrap-up of the magic-killing plot was extremely neat and tidy (too tidy?), but I’m nowhere near done with this universe. I need so much more. I mean, there are dragons now! Dragons that seem like hellhounds times a thousand (Awesome!).
Obviously Masters owes it to all her readers to give us more of the dragons. Imagine a hell-hound and dragon pairing. Talk about a match made in heaven! So, I’ll just say it again; Thank God there will be a spin-off because I can hardly wait!
In short. Love the universe. Love the characters. Sorcerers Always Satisfy didn’t reach quite the laugh level of Sam’s or Alistair’s books (they are still my favourites) but I’m totally invested in this world now. And I can’t wait the get my hands on Percy's book.

Caolan kind of creeped me out, at first, with the professing of his undying love to David, like 30 seconds after they met, but thankfully he grew on me as we start to understand the paired soul thing. Also, it took me a bit to actually warm to David, who took a long time to get his head out of his ass and admit what he actually wanted. All in all, though, I enjoyed this series conclusion.

Despite only getting two stars again, I have to say that I really, really like David and Caolan. Their dynamic and their character traits just won me over and I find them really enjoyable and exciting together. (Especially as Caolan is still learning so much about our world and has this childlike joy and curiosity).
Unfortunately, I wasn’t impressed with everything else.
On the one hand, there’s the big main plot, which spans all four volumes and has developed into a totally strange conspiracy a la „We’ll take over the world after we’ve destroyed it first“.
This somehow has nothing to do with the antagonist’s initial goals and was simply treated too superficially. If they had gone into more depth with the plot (and not just the sex and romance - which always seems very unrealistic), it would have been totally ok. But our antagonists remain completely one-dimensional and we learn far too little about them.
Also, the fact that the plot (or let’s call it war!) is interrupted for birthday parties with dildo piñatas and all that other crap and the antagonists are probably just watching the Super Bowl or something is absolutely weird.
By the fourth volume, I was also just annoyed that EVERY PERSON in this universe seems to be hyper-sexual and always has sex and dating stuff on their mind.
Why are EVERYONE always horny for each other and thinking about big dicks? WHY?!
Two stars for David and Caolan → who in the end unfortunately also only think about dicks and are horny all the time. -.-

Das hat irgendwie so gar nichts mehr mit den anfänglichen Zielen des Antagonisten zu tun und wurde einfach zu oberflächlich behandelt. Wäre man mehr in die Tiefe gegangen, was den Plot (und nicht nur den Sex und die Romantik – die auch immer sehr unrealistisch wirkt) angeht, wäre das total ok gewesen. Aber unsere Antagonisten bleiben komplett eindimensional und wir lernen viel zu wenig über sie.
Auch das der Plot (oder nennen wir es mal Krieg!) einfach so für Geburtstagsparties mit Dildo-Piñatas und allem anderen Mist unterbrochen wurde und die Antagonisten wahrscheinlich einfach gerade den Super-Bowl verfolgen, oder so, ist absolut seltsam.
Im vierten Band war ich leider auch nur noch genervt davon, dass JEDE PERSON in diesem Universum scheinbar hyper-sexuell ist und immer nur so Sexkram und Datingkram im Kopf hat.

Finale
While I loved David and Caolan, I found the ending to be a little anticlimactic. There didn't seem to be any real danger for me and the battle itself was very short.
The pieces have all been put into place for the spin off which sounds great.
Overall the series has been fantastic and David's book didn't disappoint as such, it just tried to do too much and maybe needed a couple more chapters to do it real justice. The romance and connection was lovely. It didn't move too quickly and all of the characters from the other books were present.
The epilogue was a lovely touch

I’m so sad to leave this series behind, but what a way to end it! David and Caolan are so much fun to read about, especially with David’s ridiculously reasonable reasoning for.. well.. everything! Caolan is adorable in his enthusiasm and his genuine feelings for David all along, and when a David finally lets his guard down, they are SO HOT (daaaamn) and so sweet (eventually - David is a stubborn one!). I absolutely love anytime I get more Alastair or Andrew, and this book does a great job of giving us more of the fantastic core group.
And GUYYYYYS the ending! So surprised but happily so. If you haven’t read the rest of the series, I would really suggest starting with the first book as the overall series arc comes to a jaw-dropping conclusion in this book. I. Need. Percy. I can’t wait for his book!!!!!

Best of the Series!
First l need to say that Alistair throughout the series deserves another star as he made me LOL so many times I have lost count. Someone like him in real life would drive me bonkers, but reading about his bikinis wss pure gold. This final installment of the series is just true perfection! Paranormal Fantasy just does not get better than this!

David gets his story. First of all - I have to commend Joel Leslie on his ability to seamlessly switch between not just characters, but wholesale accent changes too! It is truly impressive. The story is good, with the big evil plot foiled. I didn’t really feel the chemistry between David and his Elven boyfriend, but that kinda isn’t the point of the story. (At least not to me.)

After the blip in the road that was the last book, I feel that this one managed to smooth out not just the general storyline that we'd beem following since book one, but the resolution of David and Caolan's relationship. It has that balance that was missing in hijinks with a hellhound, plus a more relaxed (yet stable) partner to balance David out. I really enjoyed it!

It felt like a distraction compared to the other books. Sam and Noah had a connection with Tish, Alister found out about the plans and then there was David and Caolan. Not much drama and most of the bad stuff happened whilst neither of them were there. These two were probably the sweetest and most straightforward. I loved how protective the inner circle was. The dragons are gonna be trouble and I’m so looking forward to Percy’s book. Favourite part was Percy proving he needed no ones protection.
