Production assistant Shaun Doyle is thrilled when he's invited to work a week long film shoot in The Dominican Republic.
But he's baffled upon meeting Dylan, the handsome cameraman and co-owner of Vivid Productions. While breathtakingly hot physically, Dylan is overtly cold to Shaun.
Determined to get to the bottom of the crabby cameraman's aversion to him, Shaun pushes to break through the man's barriers, and discovers a scorching heat that overwhelms his body, along with an emotional roller coaster that threatens to break his heart.
Author Darien Cox lives in New England and enjoys using romantic fiction to explore the intensity, insanity, humor, and chaos that accompanies cupid’s arrow.
3.75 rounded up because I love how Darien makes me tingle with the ST.
Another cute hot read from Darien that I had fun reading. There's something about these stories that tickle my fancy. Love the will they/ won't they, love/hate situation and the ending might not come as a big surprise but its still nicely warm and fuzzy.
Okay there is a case of insta love between these two fellas and the odd eye rolley moment when the misunderstandings arrive but that's what this ones all about, and once again, I didnt give a hoot because it was fun, hot, sexy and easy to read. Like it!
Too short for the kind of insta love which developed. But, love the way Darien Cox writes so I don't care too much that this romance was all over the place!
He is fabulous at creating sexual chemistry and Shaun and Dylan had it even when they were bitching at each other.
I love a story story that ends with an "I love you" and a happily ever after as much as the next girl, but I didn't feel that the emotional connection (or lack thereof) warranted it this time. It felt phony.
Minus 10 stars for instalove!
Oh... I can't do that? Well... Then just use your imagination (you know... the way that I am in order to pretend that the author had just stuck with lust and genuine affection instead of this BS version of love).
I enjoyed this book. I sometimes don't like first person POV, especially in books like this, but the author did well with it. I liked Shaun's voice. My only complaint is that they fell in love too quickly, but in erotica/romance that tends to happen.
The fact that this was set in the Dominican republic gave me too much anxiety to be able to enjoy it fully Plus it felt like the author wanted it to be a much longer book. Some things were mentioned that to me at least were clearly fforeshadowing bigger plot points but in the end were left as nothing more than passing remarks. The scene with Michael, Dylan's ex, came out of nowhere simply, it seems, cause we needed a conflict in the end. Which we actually did not need, thank you very much. And don't even get me started on the whole insta love thing. I understand this is short but wow, just wow. And usually I don't give a fuck but this was way too cheesy and cringy so yeah... thanks but no thanks
This is a definite case of insta-love, as in the space of days, so if that is bothersome to you, this isn’t the book for you. Told in the first person POV of Shawn, a production assistant to Vivid Productions working a shoot in the Dominican Republic. He looks very young so has to always prove himself, but he’s professional and good at his job. He has a good reputation and so he is so confused and surprised to be treated with condescension, rudeness and disdain by one of the Dylan, one of the owners of Vivid.
There is a lot missing from the story that would have contributed to a better understanding of what was going on with Dylan (particularly since we only get Shaun’s POV). His explanation for his actions just make him seem unprofessional and juvenile, since he doesn’t take it out on Rooney (the other owner) who is actually the person who would have been to blame had Dylan’s assumptions actually been correct.
Then he is a see-saw of pull forward, push away, which may have been okay if they weren’t already professing love. Considering Dylan’s attitude about love due to his ex, this was too much. After five days, at least two of those spent with Dylan treating him like dirt, Shaun is in love and losing his mind when the ex, Michael, shows up. Dylan once again acts like an ass, ignoring Shaun as he goes to dinner with Michael.
Had the time line been spread out more to encompass a longer period and included some back history (what did Michael do? How were they together? What was Shaun’s life prior to this?) it would have been a much more fulfilling read for me.
Another great read from Darien Cox. The author has a great writing style which makes his books a pleasure to read. Since I read it immediately after Seducing Professor Coyle, I can see certain similarities between the characters. One of the heroes is always more emotional and maybe even somewhat needy, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. That just makes them more human and relatable. I definitely recommend taking a chance on this book, especially if you like insta-love.
Warning: major insta-love going on here. They had arguments a couple of times, maybe two conversations about why they didn't get along then they had sex twice and BOOM I love you.
It was kinda fun, but I really never get how a person can love another in 4 days, so that tickles me a little. Belonging to another person is something in my opinion that takes time. Nevertheless is was hot (though kinda short) and an easy read.
Well? FYI, I'm not an insta-love lovers and I think it way too soon for the "L" word to be said, BUT I found that I enjoy reading this story, both MC way too 'cute' together ! Awwwww ! ;)
