He is a dutiful crown prince in love with his betrothed's cousin.
Red Maximoff is a girl born with supernatural powers, living hidden from the public upon being told her powers are dangerous to the world. She's forbidden to fall in love, to prevent the chance of another supernatural being born... until her cousin's betrothed falls in love with her.
Erwien Stexford is the crown prince of Ordelia. When their kingdom faced financial crises, Erwien's father arranges his marriage to the daughter of their richest businessman, Robert Maximoff. But when Erwien lays his eyes on Robert's mysterious neice, he realizes what his heart truly desires lies in her.
I finished reading Red Rose of Ordelia under a few hours and, my God! It was totally enchanting. The author did a wonderful job nailing the fantasy romance trope in a beautiful way. I loved the story. The descriptions were very vivid and I could literally feel every single emotion of love, pain, despair, fear... The story had a beautiful way of pulling one in and bringing the characters to life. The unusual supernatural ability of the main character that initially felt like a curse she had to keep secret was well balanced by her child-like faith. The twist at the climax of the story had my stomach in knots. The ending was fantastic. Oh, did I mention that the book cover is absolutely fantastic? So enchanting indeed. I liked the natural way the author brought in Jesus into the story. It was splendid. I give this story a four star rating not because it falls short in any way but because of personal reservations I have about the kissing scenes. They weren't explicit, but I personally think for a Christian romance, it should be minimal.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review. This is the first book of the author's that I've read and I won't mind reading more from her. The book's blurb gives you a good idea of what to expect, though do be aware that the story includes toxic family members, suicidal thoughts, and lightly mentions an abortion though it doesn't happen. It's a good story about Red discovering the truth behind her powers.
While this is a Christian fantasy and faith elements play an important role in the story, as long as you don't have a negative opinion about God, then you can still enjoy it. Also, the world building isn't heavy because the focus of the story is more about Red learning to trust God. Because of her powers, she's been isolated and feeling as if she needs to keep her distance from others. However, her heart still longs for love so she tries to get along with her family members who aren't always so kind to her. When she meets Prince Erwien, there is instant attraction between them and her heavily guarded walls come down.
Because of Red's identity and the fact that Erwien is her cousin's fiancé, their romance is clean and forbidden. Don't worry, there's no love triangle or cheating involved. It's love at first sight between them and I would've liked it if we got Erwien's pov to give their relationship more depth but they were sweet together. I like how dedicated and sure he was of his feelings for her and gave her the peace and love that she needed. As for the conflict, it wasn't difficult to follow and there were a few twists readers won't expect. I didn't mind that Red was forgiving but I think it would've felt more satisfying if those she forgave weren't prompted to feel bad only because they learned the truth about her. There were some things about the plot that felt vague or could've been further developed but, overall, this story kept me interested in reading.
Absolutely loved reading Red Rose of Ordelia! Red and Erwien's story is so so sweet. This story has the perfect blend of love, forgiveness, and finding hope in the midst of despair. There were many moments where I connected with Red and her walk through guilt and shame and through it all trusting the Lord. Her journey was very encouraging. Erwien's smile shined through the pages and I LOVED his pursuit of Red! Clean contemporary christian fantasy says it all! For those looking for romance content warnings - absolutely clean and perfect for young adult readers.
I have read half of this book at the end of last year, now I finally had time to finish it.
The simple idea that the author created into this novel is perfection. I loved every single scene where Erwien showed support to Red and how their love didn't fall because of difficulties. My favorite part of the book was when Erwien was meeting Red and even showed up at her grandparent's house, how he didn't care about his engagement with Celeste. He was to me so funny because of that.

The author needs to seriously go back and take Freshman Comp 100. The grammar and spelling errors… I really dislike self published, non edited texts like this. The only reason I didn’t give it a 1 star was because it was a bit of a different story line than what I’m used to but character development was weak as well.
The book is an amazing work. The author has shown a deep immersion of the book. The blend of Romance and Christianity has been my go to get these past periods of my life and stumbling on this book was certainly not an error. I love it and will be looking forward to more Christian Romance novels.😘😘😘😘
