This is one of the better commentaries on the entire Bible. The authors are experts in Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic. You will have to open a Bible or digital Bible to follow along, as the authors do not write the verse, only a long commentary on each verse.

Additionally, there is a long forward to each book that identifies the write of the Bible books, date written, the themes and motifs, etc.

The only drawback, if any, is the fact that the print is small and can be difficult to read for extended periods of time. Other than that, it is definitely worth a look if you're looking for assistance interpreting difficult texts, chapters, or are proving to someone that there are no contradictions in the Bible, only difficulties in proper hermeneutical interpretation.

All Christians should own a copy of this. It's short commentary on every verse in the Bible. It's concise and handy when you need help or want to get a different perspective. It's age is a feature, not a bug, as it can often take you out of your own historical context.

This is a very good commentary of the bible. It is concise and readable, with good introductions on each book, cross references, and notations on source content and translation. Some may find it bit choppy but it packs an enormous amount of information in a relatively small package. I believe it does a better job on the Old Testament, but only by a coat of paint. One quibble maybe that in an attempt to be efficient any parallel passages will send you to one place, so there is a bit of page flipping at times. But one commentary I regularly look to for a quick, insightful look at a difficult passage.

My absolute favorite out of several dozen commentaries on the Bible. Excellent research, theology, and usefulness of what is provided. I trust this commentary more than any other. <3
