FROM POPULAR AUTHOR OF LGBTQIA+ ROMANCE M.C. ROTH An All Hallows’ Harem story.
Sweeter than candy—hotter than magic.
Crean is trying to leave it all behind—the closet, his overbearing family and, of course, his magic. In a world where vampires and shifters are hidden among humans, Crean is the odd one out. Born as a human to a family of shifters, he’s been hiding his orientation and his magic for his entire life.
In search of a new start, he sets out on a journey to a different province. The only condition is he has to live with his brother and his three roommates.
Living with a vampire, a werewolf and a faerie is bound to be a disaster, and Crean does his best to avoid the strangers. But everything he’s been told about others is wrong, and his life is about to change forever.
M.C. Roth lives in Canada and loves every season, even the dreaded Canadian winter. She graduated with honours from the Associate Diploma Program in Veterinary Technology at the University of Guelph before choosing a different career path.
Between caring for her young son, spending time with her husband, and feeding treats to her menagerie of animals, she still spends every spare second devoted to her passion for writing.
She loves growing peppers that are hot enough to make grown men cry, but she doesn’t like spicy food herself. Her favourite thing, other than writing of course, is to find a quiet place in the wilderness and listen to the birds while dreaming about the gorgeous men in her head.
This was different than I thought it was going to be, but I still enjoyed it.
This story definitely delivered on the MMM elements, which were quite HOT, especially the first scene with Crean, Nate and Connor.
That being said I did feel like the cover and title were a bit misleading, as it’s not really focused on Halloween. And while magic is discussed, it kind of takes more of a back seat and candy is totally irrelevant to the story.
I wish Crean's magic had been more flushed out and discussed with the others. I feel like a lot of this story was underdeveloped.
*** I received an ARC of this book and this is my honest opinion. ***
4.5 stars. Crean is an odd one. He’s human coming from a shifter family. His mum pushed, more than once, shifter girls his way. He doesn’t want a girl, he wants a guy, but no way he can come out.
Finally, he got the green light to move to his brother. After days of traveling, he arrives. His brother Rian is a panther shifter and lives with three other guys, his best friends. They are all huge, like buildings. A faerie, a wolf shifter, and a vampire, and here we got Crean… a little human.
Better to say a little horny human. The roommates are all very attractive.
“mo chuisle.” lol
His brother can never know, it’s risky because Crean and his roommates can’t keep their hands off each other.
The buildup was fantastically done, I love it all, the secrecy, the sexy gatherings, oh boy it was so yummy. It was a VERY sexy, horny, lighthearted read, with lovable characters, I loved everything about this story.
Crean meets his brother's mates Nate a vampire, Connor a werewolf, plus Tristan who is a faerie As Crean comes from a Panther shifter family he feels it is important to keep who he is to himself whether it is right or wrong! A story that drew me into the pages and kept me there seeing how Crean was going to cope living socially with these guys? No one knows that he is gay but that secret didn't stay quiet for long as Crean enjoyed the attention that Nate gave him which made them ravenous for each other then came Connor plus Tristan. Everyone was extremely happy and fulfilled! A good and very interesting storyline that is full of enchantment and leaves you wanting more!
What would you do in order to be free? To stop having to hide all that you are? For Crean, that means leaving home and moving in with his younger brother, Rian, and his roommates. What starts out as a risky and possibly disastrous situation turns into more than any of them could have ever imagined.
Crean is a fun character. I enjoyed watching him grow into his sexuality and really own it. His interactions with his brother are fun and very realistic. He also has very different relationships with the other roommates, too, which I appreciated.
Rian’s roommates were a crazy bunch. A vampire, a wolf shifter, and a faery. Even more amusing is that Rian’s a panther shifter himself, so a dog, a cat, a biter, and a fae all in the same house. This diversity of paranormals makes for an enjoyable bit of banter throughout the story, as well as different experiences for Crean as he bonds with each man. It’s hard to choose a favorite, too, because each had a fun or quirky personality trait that endeared them to me.
One small thing that bothered me with the story is that Crean’s magic wasn’t really addressed. He hid it from everyone, but even his lovers don’t know about it. While reading, I assumed that the reason why Nate could feed off him and be sated for a long period of time was due to the magic. The same goes for what transpired with Tristan as well. But it’s a small thing and didn’t really detract from my enjoyment of the story overall.
Candy Magic is a super steamy, funny, and magical romance. Mixing an awkward, inexperienced ‘human’ in with a house full of more experienced paranormal beings is indeed a recipe for disaster, but it can also be a recipe for love, passion, and joy. I’d love to know more about their lives after this story ends, I just couldn’t get enough of Crean and his boys.
This book had such an interesting blurb that I went into it with high hopes. Unfortunately, for me, this book simply didn’t follow through.
There were so many titbits thrown at us – from Crean’s magic and what happened when he used it; Tristan and his wings; Nate and his general dislike of humans – and yet none of them went anywhere. They felt thrown into the air and just left there. Not such a big deal until you realise that the whole thing about Crean and his magic is part of why he left home, but we are never told just what happened.
The relationships between all of the characters were murky and shallow – these guys were meant to be Crean’s brother’s best friends and yet not one of them seriously considered how their friend might feel about their four-some relationship with Crean. Hardly loyalty.
We don’t really learn anything about how the supernatural came to be known – or why – and there seems to be no lingering issues with prejudice or fear. Crean being desperate to escape from his smothering family yet we don’t witness one single instance of them being that way or hindering him. The whole story was incredibly shallow and we were told so much was happening and yet didn’t witness any of it.
The sex scenes were perfunctory and felt passionless, and even though the idea of asexuality was sort of thrown out there with regard to Tristan, it wasn’t explored at all. I guess what I’m saying is that if this was meant to be a sex-fest harem read, it failed in that perspective; as an examination of prejudice between species, it failed; to be completely honest, the whole book just failed for me.
I can’t see me reaching for any other books by this author, which is a shame as a quick flick through it looks like they really have some interesting ideas.
Based on the blurb, I thought this book would have played out a bit differently, but it was still a great one!
We meet Crean when he is on his way to his brother's house to move in after leaving home to get away from his overbearing Panther-shifter family. They don't know that he's gay and has magic powers that he can summon at a drop of a hat due to the face that magic has become forbidden in the world (or so he was told.)
When Crean meets his brother's three roommates, he is instantly aware of the wolf Connor, vampire Nate and fae Tristan and is getting weird vibes from all of them after he tells them that he is just human and nothing else. After slightly hurting himself in front of Connor, their attraction comes crashing together when Connor insists on helping him relax to ease the pain ;)
Crean believes that Nate hates him based on all of their interactions but in fact, it's just the opposite. When Crean gives him the OK to quench his thirst, Nate doesn't hesitate.
Tristan's story made me so sad. Him wearing his fae glamour so the other's don't see his pain or scars was what really got me. I'm glad that Crean stepped up and helped him ease his pain. Also, it seems that Tristan is possibly Ace? Based on other MM books I've read, there are a few out there but it seems like it doesn't get mentioned enough so we could see more LGBT+ orientation reps.
This book was a short one, but was great all around for me.

Candy Magic by MC Roth is a standalone romantic, erotica about one man who did not inherit any paranormal ability, as he finds happiness with three men - a vampire, a werewolf and a faerie.
Crean is considered human. He did not inherit any his family's shape shifting abilities. He's got a well meaning family, but he needs to get out on his own. The deal is, though, he moves in with his brother and his brother's mysterious house mates.
What ensues is a very erotic story as Crean discovers himself as he finds out his needs with three very different men, who all have different craving. Rather than being a menage, I consider this more of a polyamorous arrangement. It's fun and sexy. I like how the different each man is and has a different dynamic with Crean. Because this is more in the realm of erotica, I found it difficult to connect to the book fully, while at the same time I enjoyed and appreciated Crean's encounters with his men and working out what he wants.

4.5 stars This is a story of overcoming difficulties and accepting differences. Crean feels apart from his shifter family as he’s human and not a shifter, but he has magical abilities, which he hides, as, while society tolerates shifters, werewolves, vampires and faeries they are against magic. He’s also gay but hasn’t told his family, so, needing to be away from them to live his truth, he finds work across the country and moves temporarily to live with his younger brother and his roommates until he can find his own apartment. As he learns that the prejudices he’s been taught towards the other species are unfounded he also becomes attracted to each of his brother’s friends and develops relationships with each of them. I loved how they all accepted each other and worked out their own unique but together relationships. I really enjoyed this low-angst, Paranormal harem story, which had fun, steam and a great ending. “Even if it’s just for right now, you’re mine. You’re going to remember this moment for the rest of time, and everything else will pale in comparison.”
I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. The story was interesting from the start and hooked me in almost immediately. I really liked Crean. His brother's friends and roommates, werewolf Connor, vampire Nate, and faerie Tristan, all had differing personalities. And while Crean's family- including his younger brother, whom he went to live with- are all panther shifters, Crean was human, but secretly had magic that he kept hidden because it was all but extinct. I really enjoyed getting to know each of them and seeing the relationship form between Crean, Nate, Connor, and Tristan. I also loved the aspect of the story that was Crean seeing past misconceptions of other species. A fun, and at times very sexy read! 5 stars.
There's a lot of potential here, and I would love to see more from this world. The relationships are a bit odd in how they develop; and I don't understand really how they anticipated they'd keep things from Rian, or even why they are ALL interested in Crean but never have been, and are still not remotely interested in each other... but everyone is on the same page, so there's that. Basically, Crean gets a harem, which is right there in the description, but this story has so much more to offer; it's not overly "hot" or super steamy, but it's erotic, and it's actually pretty sweet in a lot of places--particularly Crean's relationship with Tristan, but it feels like there's a lot missing, too. It's erotic, but not overly so. I'd read more from this author, but would have loved to see more from this particular story as well.

Candy Magic by M.C. Roth is the most organic harem story I think I’ve ever read. Crean moves away from his family in search of a new start and moves in with his brother and his three roommates. The author did a good job of distinguishing the different characteristics of Connor the werewolf, Nate the vampire, and Tristan the fairie. Part of what made the connection among the three and Crean seem natural was Crean had to lose his false beliefs about the three paranormals, all while trying to keep his own magic abilities hidden from everyone. I also liked the pacing of the creation of the harem. I honestly did not expect to like the book as much as I did. I would certainly read another book by M.C. Roth. I received a free ARC of the book from Totally Entwined Group and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I think what I actually enjoyed most about this novella was the world building - the tidbits of information we got about the different species and how they interacted in the world. I also thought the love interests had solid characterisations and overall, I enjoyed the sex scenes.
What I enjoyed less was actually the main character. Despite it being from his POV, I don’t feel u really understand who he is, his personality. His personality sometimes shifts quite dramatically. I do also hope there will be a sequel because the element of his magic is made quite a big deal but in this book, there is no payoff.
I give this book 3.5 stars rounded up to 4.

Crean has a new job and temporarily moves in with his brother and three roommates. Crean is the only human born to a family of panther shifters. The other three roommates? A wolf, a vampire, and a faerie. Crean must learn to overcome his learned biases to live with other supernaturals. Oh yeah, Crean is gay and has not come out to his family, including his brother. Seriously, what's a guy to do living with three wickedly hot roommates? Get to know them...well.
This is a quick, fun novella. Look for more spice than substance. There is a little character building but it's rushed, as is the drawback of a novella with four main characters. Overall, it would be a great palate cleanser when you're looking for a short, sweet read with a bit of spice.
I love the premise here, and there’s certainly chemistry and heat between Crean and the guys he meets. Were there world enough and time, I would have liked to see more explication of the world these characters inhabit— there are enough hints to make things interesting, but not to get a full picture of how things (magic, supernatural society, etc) work. It’d also be cool to see more of the nuances of the characters’ personalities, beyond vampire/werewolf/faeire/odd one out from a family of panther shifters. Barring that, however, this is overall an enjoyable read that moves fairly quickly.

I really enjoyed the writing style and the group of different types of supernatural creatures. It was a good story even though it wasn't quite the story I expected from the blurb or the cover. I think the magic part of Crean was underdeveloped, I could understand the reasons he kept it secret but surely his partners should know something, or it could have been added more to the plot somewhere. This is a well written book with a cast of strong characters and an interesting storyline. The author does a great job developing the story and takes you into the lives of Cream and his three mates with a different type of relationships with each of them. She brings the story to life with her perfectly painted and erotic scenes, moves the story quickly and smoothly and delivers an entertaining and fun story.

Candy Magic is a well written story with great word building. MC Roth has written a great erotic standalone romantic story. Crean did not inherit any shape shifting abilities and wants to go out on his own but his family say only if he stays with his brother and then meets his brother's mysterious house mates a vampire, a werewolf and a faerie. Crean discovers his needs with these three men who all have different cravings which leads into a fun, sexy and erotic poly storyline.

M. C. Roth has given us a fun gay harem story about a guy called Crean who appears to be a human born into a family of shifters. He moves in with his brother to get away from his family and has fun collecting a harem of magical men. There isn’t a whole lot of plot aside from this getting to know each other. Although there are things I would have liked to know more about in the story it feels complete in itself.

Ummm this book didn’t do what I thought it would do. Like Crean buddy you got magic and we hardly see it or talk about it it’s like a past tense in this book. I didn’t care the way Nate was going about his whole not liking humans things meh. Conner was my favorite! He was so cute and sweet loved him and Tristan was ok this book was just that ok!.

I loved it. I hope there’s a sequel or long bonus chapter or something because things feel a bit… unfinished. Plus I need more of them, like another book, yep, they need a sequel. Please. I have unanswered questions about Tristan and about Crean.
Highly recommend.

I liked the story, a bit different than I expected. I tought they all woud be togheter. But the MC Crean was chared between them. Nice, fun and fluffy reading.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I enjoyed this book, I am really hoping it is the start of a duet, trilogy, or series, though. There was a major unresolved issue, we didn’t really learn much about Crean’s love interests, and it just felt unfinished, there is however, a Happy For Now ending and no cliffhanger.

"His bucket list was going to end up the shortest in history at the rate he was going"
This book is part of a multi-authored series called All Hallows' Harem. This book was fairly short at 150 pages.
The story has some light world building but not enough to understand each of the character's backgrounds. This would be a great prequel to a new series, hint hint. It definitely left me wanting more. I have so many questions with no answers in sight.
This was a harem style relationship. I've never read this type of relationship before in the MM romance genre. These 3 guys are only interested in being with Crean while he has a relationship with all 3... this is definitely different from other multi-partner stories I've read where they are all involved with each other.
I feel like there was so much that could be done with this story. I would definitely be interested in a series surrounding this story, to find out more about this world and these guys.
I picked this story up, on Booksprout, because I loved Feral Woods. When I like an author I'm always excited to read any ARCs they have available that interest me.
Opposites attract, brothers best friends, coming out of the closet with a big bang, lots of steam
