Okay, I'm a late bloomer who's a big DC comics fan and spent my childhood summers on the Jersey shore but I was born under a wandering star and have lived in different parts of America ever since. That's enough about me. Need to feel inspired today? Looking for something to make you root for an ordinary hero? I'm all about that in everything I write.
I love a good tale that makes me wonder about things and I love a story even more that leaves me feeling inspired or like I'm capable of doing more than I realized. That's my goal with everything I've ever written. Some of the stories I tell involve twisting, turning thrillers and others have a lot of magic.
There's something to be said for getting lost in another world and coming out the other side feeling a little better about yourself or the possibilities in front of you. That's basically the best part of life in a nutshell, no matter what kind of story I'm setting out to tell.
WILD roller coaster ride buckeroos! So strap in and hunker downnnnn for the adrenaline junkies who will totally love this thrill ride serie.
The main character, Idina Moorfield, is struggling to fit herself into the financial planner family dynamic. She is miserable and clearly unhappy since she is a remarkable artist and had a scholarship to fabulous Dartmouth college, but that is completely, shocking unacceptable to her uptight family who forces their family to fit into their rigid Stepford work wife template and nothing else.
When Idina asks the family to go to Dartmouth instead of Harvard they melt down. So Idina presents an alternative. She will go into the military…and she is stunned when they say yes!
Turns out the kid was bluffing and the family called her bluff…so off to the military Idina goes…all kinds of strange things begin to happen since she goes off the bizarre meds the family has forced her on since childhood to control her hidden gifts, which suddenly become fully active and uncontrolled. Once she is off the controlling meds! Yikes!
Suddenly wild visions with strange voices, the green mist that showed up when she was upset or emotional and frightening entities that scare her that are uncontrollable, but she has no one to ask or talk to since her uncle Richard was banished since she was nine - he was the only one she might have asked who saw things…so unfortunately things worsen and Idina ends up AWOL for a few hours and in a psych program evaluation and eventually in a new program with a new troop (almost like she is being lead through a series of steps through a progression and conclusion to a SHOCKING finish).
This is full of more twists and turns than a Greek labyrinth and the finish leading to the end is sooooo twisty it is WILD! Excellent series, a wondrous writing team whom I adore, fabulous feisty characters and an absolutely worthwhile read
I loved the first two books as we have a new lead character and an unusual beginning with sparkle stuff and an army life with adventures and trials. Book 3 has the Triple S unit... ugh! I also had a 24 hour bug and needed a distraction ....but not Triple S! I was unhappy and this definitely affected my response to these weird people. Then a new turn with green sparkle Warrior magic and the Triple S unit I grew to love is gone. The story continues, but I hate liking people and then they vanish. I feel cheated that way. It is a fast ride and interesting but I will think before starting the next as I pout about the loss of Moss's teams. I really liked the paratrooper training! Fun!
I purchased these book sets without question because I love Michael's style of writing. This is the first I have read with co author Martha. To say I was expecting Michael's usual high standards was a given. Sadly this book set was incredibly slow going, to the point that watching paint dry whilst at the dentist, would have been more exciting and less painful. Nothing of interest happens until chapter 23 of the second book and that sets the drawn out pace until the last book of the set. I purchased both box sets but won't be wasting my time reading it. If you like military stories with a few sparkles thrown in, then follow the 5 star ratings. I won't be reading any of Martha's books if this is her standard, even her notes were long winded.
Born into a family of investment analysis, but never fit in. After graduation expected to go to business college, instead of art school as she wants. With an ability to see solutions through green lights. Unable to figure out her powers, drugged to mask them. Giving family choice since she's only 17 parents have to sign off. They chose to sign enlistment papers. So she goes now off drugs things start happening. Good read.
The book starts like a biography with incredibly detailed descriptions of the characters presented. Than the story starts and you just can't stop reading about the trials, tests and " family ties" the heroine has to endure. The storyline pulls you right into this series which comes progressively more alive page after page. Very well written and fascinating detailed adventures ready to be immersed into. Absolutely for everyone who loves to read.
Her bloodline gave her powers that she didn't know she had and couldn't control. This warrior to be joined the army at 18 running away from her family. She encounters other soldiers and grew and again and then met the missing connection to train her powers. Michael and Martha created a wonderful tale I found difficult to put down! The characters our hero encountered along the way up just grew on me and I still wanted more!!!!! Thanks
I'd in a is a girl who loves art. Her family is pushing her into the family business Fiance. So she applies to Dartmouth and gets a full scholarship. The whole family is against her. So she threatens to join the army if sign her. Papers which they do. She asks for her medicine but it turns who be a poison. Then her green magic is coming through. Hang on for the adventures and magic that follows.
Reading about the military is always interesting when you have had no personal contact without. It could just as easily be any fiction genre that features other worlds. Throw in a few mysteries and some supernatural twists and you have a pretty cool story. Looking forward to the ret of the series.
Congratulations to Martha Carr and Michael Anderle for this amazing series. It’s extremely hard to find such intexresting and exciting authors who not only write intelligently but also provide top rated plots, characters and excitement in the stories.
I’ve been reading this series from the beginning. It took a bit to really get into it but I’m not at all disappointed. I’m hoping there’s more because this last left off without a real conclusion. So now I’m off to look for the actual conclusion.
Great quote, but it took too damn long to tell the reader anything about green lights. I’m enjoying the series and have already downloaded the next 6-12 books. But something good needs to happen. At least give the poor girl a love interests. 😁
This was a good read. The characters were interesting and there was a storyline throughout. There was plenty of suspense and twist and turns in the story to keep your interest. It was enjoyable and makes you want to read the follow up.
Sooo, the writing is good as always, buuut... The bulk of this set is about our heroine leaving home, going through Basic and Jump school and then several missions. Magic doesn't make a significant showing until nearly the end of book 6. If it's magic you came for, go ahead and start book 7
This was a totally different book than I used to reading. The fun of reading about a teenage girl in her first year as an Army soldier. It was refreshing, fun and quite!
